The voice in his head made Julian pause for a moment. Looking at the newly appeared main quest, his expression turned somewhat peculiar.
This main quest was called "Champion's Path." Shouldn’t this have been issued before he became a Champion?
Now that he was already a Champion, releasing it only now felt a bit… late.
Julian seriously suspected that the system had simply forgotten to issue this quest earlier.
Since Metagross was already at the Champion level, Julian had effectively completed the first stage of the quest, and the 50,000 points had already been credited to him.
The remaining rewards would only be granted once he possessed a second, third, or even more Champion-level Pokémon.
What really made Julian’s eyes light up was the reward of 16 Mewtwo Fragments for possessing three Champion-level Pokémon. If he obtained those Fragments, he could finally summon Mewtwo.
However to train six Champion-level Pokémon… that was still a long road ahead.
At present, Julian only had four Pokémon at the Pseudo-Champion tier:
- Melmetal at level 81
- Aggron at level 86
- Kartana at level 82
- Moltres at level 86
Two at the early-stage Pseudo-Champion level and two at the mid-stage Pseudo-Champion Level—not even at the late-stage.
Without some sort of extraordinary opportunity, both Moltres and Aggron would need at least two years to break through to Champion tier.
Alternatively, Julian could take a shortcut by directly capturing existing Champion-level Pokémon in Secret Realms or Ruins.
"That might actually work."
Julian thought, stroking his chin. As long as he completed the quest and obtained the rewards, he could always release the captured Pokémon afterward.
"Ding."
[Cheating is prohibited.]
Well, it seemed that path was blocked. He would just have to progress step by step honestly.
Still, the appearance of this new main quest gave Julian a renewed sense of purpose—though to be fair, that had been his goal all along.
But if he could get rewards while achieving his goals—wasn’t that doubling the happiness?
Buzz—buzz—buzz—
Julian's phone rang. He glanced at it and saw it was his secretary, Ella.
"Ella, what's up?"
Under normal circumstances, Ella wouldn’t contact him unless it was something important or urgent. As he picked up, Julian wondered—'Could it be that they already need me, the Elite Commander, to step in?'
For some reason, his heart beat a little faster with excitement.
"Commander, the Elder Council hopes you can agree to a national television interview," Ella replied.
And it turned out to be about an interview.
As the youngest Champion in history, Julian had become an idol and a role model for young people across Drakoria and even the world.
Yet, there had never been a formal interview with him after becoming a Champion.
Many citizens wanted him to accept one, to get to know him more personally. Sure, most of Julian’s achievements were already documented on the Trainer Association’s official website, but people wanted to know the things that weren’t listed there—like his relationships, or other more gossipy details.
The Drakorian government also intended to position Julian as the nation’s global ambassador and its biggest celebrity Trainer. Thus, even the Elder Council hoped Julian would accept the interview to appear on National Television.
Of course, the final decision rested with Julian himself.
"Alright," Julian agreed after thinking for a moment.
He didn’t really have much going on recently anyway, so doing an interview wasn’t a big deal.
"Schedule it for tomorrow at 3 p.m.," Julian said.
"Yes, Commander," Ella’s voice from the other end of the line.
Julian then asked her about work-related matters, and she assured him that everything had been handled. At the moment, there was nothing that required him to personally take action—the other Elites were more than enough.
This made Julian quite satisfied. 'As expected, let the secretary handle the work while I go out and have fun.'
After he hung up, Celebi, who had been lying on Julian’s head and overheard the conversation, asked curiously, "So you’re doing an interview tomorrow?"
"Mm."
"One that the whole country will see?"
"You could say the whole world will see it."
"Then take me with you!"
As soon as Celebi heard that Julian would be appearing in front of the entire world, it immediately insisted on joining.
It was determined to bring glory to the Celebi family and become the very first Celebi ever to appear on television.
"What, you think I don’t already have enough haters and you want to help me gain some international ones too?"
Those haters were always criticizing him for letting Celebi eat fried chicken, french fries, and drink ice-cold soda—Julian had long since stopped bothering to argue with them.
Anyway, they were all just keyboard warriors—with a single keystroke they thought they could roast gods in heaven.
"Anyway, it’s not like a few more haters will make any difference to you."
That line left Julian completely speechless. What did it mean by "it’s not like you mind a few more haters"?
Damn it, he was supposed to be going for the idol route! Having that many haters would just ruin his public image!
Seeing that Julian didn’t reply, Celebi flew down from his head and put on a cutesy voice: "Big bro~ big bro~ just say yes—"
Bang!
The next second, it was sent flying by Julian’s punch.
Julian scowled with a dark expression, "Speak properly, MF! Don’t ever use that tone with me again. You think you’re a Gardevoir? You don’t even have a gender!"
That had genuinely creeped him out.
"From now on, I’m putting your phone on child mode with time limits. No more spending all day scrolling through shorts or playing games."
Celebi flew back, completely unharmed—with its physique, Julian couldn’t hurt it even if he tried. It crossed its little arms and said defiantly, "You watch TikTok and play games too."
Julian said righteously: "I’m an adult."
Celebi: "I’m hundreds of years old."
Julian: (?`ω´?)
'Damnit… when it came to age, there was just no beating this centuries-old "little monster."'
"Enough nonsense. You eat my food, drink my drinks, use my stuff—and you still have the nerve to argue?"
But instead of backing down, Celebi puffed up proudly. "Hmph! A while ago, I made a TikTok account and posted a selfie. I already have over a million followers!"
As it spoke, it pulled out its phone and showed Julian its profile.
Julian took a look—'damn, it really does have millions of followers.'
Celebi: "I’ve even been contacted by advertisers. I can support myself from now on."
It looked utterly pleased with itself, its tiny nose practically pointing to the sky.
