Chapter 1595: All Out

Chapter 1595: All Out

The potent pressures storming down from the skies – from the great void – were quite distinct. Everyone with the capacity to sense them despite the distance immediately deduced that indeed, the source belonged to the main fighting forces of the realm of the Undead.

They were Liches, and they were trouble.

Skullius narrowed his eyes.

The enemies were riding vessels he couldn’t yet identify with his Divine senses, but a rustic guess told him that the Liches had armies with them.

’So, this bastard was serious earlier?’ he thought and turned to the artefact SoSei. At once, Doom Factor 2 was triggered and Somanda’s presence shuddered through Camilla’s likeness.

Weaver – while dodging the blotches of grey in the Territory – had been keeping a watchful eye on the artefact while also channelling his Null Life Essences into Skullius. Red Rage, who had just allowed Araeyn into the world hidden within his cape, was hardly paying attention to anything outside of what he figured his master needed him and the Authority of Dimensions to do.

This meant that SoSei was free to do as it pleased. Somanda churned and grinned within the artefact’s body. Camilla’s face melted like wax, chunks of it falling to the ground.

Somanda looked up and laughed.

"Ah, the aesthetics’ here have changed. No matter. I hope you don’t mind, Skullius," he said to the Nullinity’s Herald after noting the revolving blotches of grey and white. "We Liches never give up on the chance to earn favours from our neighbours with barters of this nature. Even a world with its anchor gone has its uses. Perhaps we will harvest the Deities here."

Skullius was unfazed.

"I already told you I’d take you on. Nothing’s changed," he said. "I’ll even give your friends an invitation into Aigas."

And indeed, Skullius did. With Aigas currently being his Territory, he could fix the Rules and bar the Liches from entering entirely.

But who would that benefit?

If Divine enemies were willingly entering his domain to be slaughtered, that could only be a plus for him, and in more ways than one.

While Somanda chortled at Skullius’ response, Quintess wore an unsightly face. Listafelle beside him gave an exasperated sigh.

In their service under the Aspire to Divine, they had battled more than their fair share of these terrifying Undeath practitioners.

<Parrhaya...> Listafelle said. <We really don’t have time for this. You have indulged Boron enough.>

Quintess expelled a torrential breath. <I know.>

Amras began brewing in the Deity’s body, churning out of his outline like a sea current. His vessel was not only good at regenerating limbs, but also Amras because of the high-quality Immortal Physique built into it.

Slowly, but sharply, the 40% Amras Skullius had stolen from him started getting restored. The same went for Listafelle.

The two would go all out.

Boron watched this... silently; and did nothing.

"Hmph."

Fulgardt had also faced his fair share of Liches in the past. Naturally, none of them scared him, but given his current predicament, he needed to play his trump cards to ensure a higher rate of success. He too, would go all out.

"I did end up wasting time as well. Now I have to compete for Deity corpses with Liches," he said before meeting eyes with Skullius. "I’ve seen all I needed to see from you. It was almost worth it."

Well... he thought it was.

The Immoral’s eyes, staring into the great void, were suddenly devoured by darkness and disintegrated. In the empty sockets left behind, Fulgardt slotted in the two strange eyeballs he had extracted from an unknown spatial storage and connected them to the necessary innards within his skull with a precise regeneration technique.

Skullius noted those eyes.

’Why do them seem like... Yuyui’s?’ he thought... but the next thing Fulgardt pulled out stole his attention.

An odd card glowing with a purple hue was suddenly in the Immoral’s grip. He immediately chomped into it, swallowed, and sucked in a deep breath as... Voided Death Essence streamed through his blood vessels and seeped from his skin like vapour.

Skullius scowled at this.

’That’s your trump card, huh?’

He would have attacked the Immoral right then, but was it the wisest move – especially when a single lethal blow wouldn’t even kill the Immoral?

Quintess and Listafelle were powering up as well, getting ready to take the battle to the next level. They would likely attack him in order to get rid of the Imperial Territory.

The Liches were breaching the weakened Rules of Aigas, all two of them and their powerful armies.

Who warranted the most attention from the Sovereign of Refined Anarchy?

The answer was simple.

Everyone.

Right then, Deific Usurper’s Secondary automatic and manual attack functions fully charged, ready to be unleashed.

Better yet...

’My liege, I have finished processing the node for Focused Null Life Ota inside your body,’ Weaver said through the connection he had with his master. ’Araeyn and the First have also finished analysing the body for your next Apostle. The former is rather intrigued in the initiative you proposed: merging several extinct species into the one body.’

’I see...’ thought Skullius.

The Apostle route was almost complete. Almost.

Indeed, he wanted to merge at least three of the species he’d been offered for his next Apostle together but taming them was no easy feat. They were all stubborn forces of nature that wouldn’t bend the knee to the current him.

To force them into submission, Skullius needed the full, unrelenting might of the War Body. That power, he was sure, was enough to make his next Apostle obey him.

Glancing at Kenno’s body and noting that the Unlimited Star was doing his best to exceed expectations, Skullius sprang up into action.

Outrageous volumes of Benighted and Enlighted Ju`wtte sprang forth from the four black and white Ju`wtta around his wrists.

Before his timer was up, he would unleash the true power of his Territory and Ju`wtte on all his enemies.

His eyes had turned back to the Immoral when two things happened in rapid succession.

First

, a rift opened over Edagon, and a feminine Fruit Bearer emerged, possessed by Suzamete.

Second...

...!!!!!

Skullius, Quintess, Listafelle and even Suzamete gaped in shock.

But perhaps the most surprised one among them all... was Fulgardt.

He had not, after all, expected a large halberd to suddenly pierce him through from behind.

A confused and furious look washed over his face as he turned behind him at the giant culprit responsible. The blow ripping through his flesh was no ordinary one. One simply had to see how it was quickly turning Fulgardt into white stone to realise it.

"What is the meaning of this?!" the Immoral cried.

Boron had bided his time and chosen this precise moment to strike. Any later, and he knew it would be too difficult to fulfil the task Void had asked of him in return for the Void rank halberd he received.

<You’ve overestimated your freedom of expression. Someone else is not entirely happy about that, Fulgardt.> the Deity said coldly. <Someone you know very well.>

[Author’s Note]

Aaaaaand we’ll be switching perspectives once more. I know there’s a lot of stuff going on, but trust me, it’s all leading to something. Changing perspectives like this is my way to try and make this whole saga digestible. After all, the two battles happening at once are actually connected with several layers of tissue. You’ll see it in these next few Chapters. Trust.

Now, do tell me what you thought about this section. We are about halfway through this Saga. It won’t overstay its welcome. I’m not sure ya’ll would appreciate another The One Left Standing run.
