Chapter 888: Chapter 863: The Siege of Luoyang Mansion
Brooke stood up, and as he was leaving, he looked at Yao Yue and said regretfully: “It’s such a pity that there are people as beautiful as you in this world. A blooming flower is about to wither. I really hope to hear from you in three days!”
After saying that, Brooke got into a black Buick and quickly left the Luoyang Prefecture. Watching Brooke’s car speeding away, Yao Yue showed a hint of confusion in her eyes. She didn’t understand why Brooke would say something like that.
Beside her, Ah Ping frowned and said, “What kind of talk is that? Isn’t he just cursing someone to die?”
“No, I think he means to let people live!” Yao Yue, with her cleverness, brightened up and immediately understood the implication in Brooke’s words. Within three days, someone was sure to attack Luoyang City, it must be so. Her mind was quickly processing; within the entire Golden Triangle, only the Wa State Tribe could be hostile to the Luoyang Prefecture. Brooke had been staying with the Wa State Tribe recently, so his words accidentally revealed some secrets of the Wa State Tribe.
“Leader, what do you mean?” Ah Ping asked in confusion.
“Hmph, within three days, the Wa State Tribe will definitely launch a surprise attack!” Yao Yue gritted her teeth and said.
“Impossible, right?” Ah Ping was taken aback, looking at Yao Yue with suspicion. “Leader, recently the soldiers of the Wa State Tribe have been busy with training exercises, because the US has given them a lot of support and even sent two instructor companies to train their soldiers, providing them with a large number of advanced weapons and ammunition!”
“Damn it, how come I didn’t know about this intel?!” Yao Yue was startled.
“The intelligence department has long collected this information, but you didn’t pay attention!” Ah Ping looked at Yao Yue. Recently, Yao Yue had been so busy training her own soldiers that she forgot to eat and rest. If it weren’t for the fact that she helped organize Yao Yue’s desk, she wouldn’t have known any of this.
“Immediately deploy the soldiers from the mountains!” Yao Yue instantly started arranging defenses, rushing out while shouting, “Signal the beacons, have the left and right wings gather immediately, and also assemble the city’s guard team!”
Soon, the entire Luoyang Prefecture was bustling. Two hours later, a large number of soldiers marched out of the valley in an organized manner, over three thousand in total. These men were all the soldiers of Luoyang Prefecture, with over five hundred in the city guard team. Including Yao Yue’s Women’s Army of more than two hundred, the city forces alone totaled over eight hundred. In total, there were more than four thousand, all neatly standing outside Luoyang Prefecture.
Outside the Luoyang Prefecture was a large square, which was the training ground for the Luoyang Prefecture guard team and Women’s Army, a kilometer away from the true gate of the Luoyang Prefecture. This kilometer served as a buffer zone.
Standing at the top of the Luoyang Prefecture, Yao Yue, equipped with a headset and microphone, shouted to the more than four thousand elite soldiers below: “Mighty soldiers of the Luoyang Prefecture, a thousand days of nurturing soldiers for a moment of use. Today may not be our moment, but starting today, the alert level of Luoyang Prefecture is raised to the highest level. From today, you will be stationed in the camps outside the city until the alert level drops before you can return to the training grounds!”
“Yes!” The voices of over four thousand people were indeed imposing, prompting some residents inside Luoyang City to peek out from their homes, even though they couldn’t see the situation inside Luoyang Prefecture.
The situation within Luoyang Prefecture was passed on to the Wa State Tribe by spies and internal operatives. Knowing that Luoyang Prefecture’s alert level had been raised, the leader of the Wa State Tribe felt very surprised. Although Luoyang Prefecture’s alert levels changed frequently, this change left him slightly uneasy. The plan was to launch a surprise attack on Luoyang Prefecture at eleven o’clock the night after tomorrow, but if their alert level was raised, wouldn’t the surprise attack be very dangerous?
“Damn it, has our information been leaked?” The number one leader of the Wa State Tribe angrily said.
“Impossible!” The second leader immediately refuted, saying, “Brother, only you and I, and the US Secretary of State who has already left, know this information. Aside from that, there’s hardly anyone else!”
“Then… could it be you?” The number one leader looked at his second brother in astonishment.
“Brother, what are you saying?” Lao Er said in frustration, “I’ve been with you for so many years, don’t you know me?”
“Of course I know. You spill everything after you’ve been drinking!” The number one leader glared at Lao Er and said, “Have you been drinking too much lately?”
“No… I haven’t!” Lao Er quickly shook his head to deny it. In fact, he had drunk many times, though he wasn’t sure if he had drunk too much. He was aware he had been unconscious several times, not knowing if he had leaked the information then. To avoid being scolded by his brother, he could only deny it.
“Bullshit, you said you didn’t drink, but yesterday when I went to see you, you were dead drunk!” The First Leader glared at Lao Er. He knew his second brother well; there’s no need to doubt Lao Er’s loyalty, but aside from drinking, everything else about him makes one raise a thumb in approval. The First Leader both loved and hated Lao Er, loved him for his ability to lead troops in battle, and hated his dependence on alcohol, as if he couldn’t live without it.
“Yes, big brother, I was wrong, I only drank yesterday, but I swear to heaven I didn’t say anything to anyone!” Lao Er looked pleadingly at his big brother.
“Alright, let’s not talk about this!” The First Leader waved his hand and said, “Maybe they’re just increasing the Luoyang City’s alertness as a routine exercise, so there’s nothing to worry about. We’ll proceed with the plan the night after tomorrow!”
“Mm!” Lao Er nodded, grinning, “Big brother, there’s really no reason to worry about this. We have the Americans’ advanced weapons, we shouldn’t be afraid of their primitive cannons. With these, even if their defenses are high, I’m confident that if I personally lead the attack, we can utterly defeat them and show them the strength of our Wa State Tribe!”
“Alright!” The First Leader looked solemnly at his second brother and said, “The task the day after tomorrow is on you, second brother. I hope you understand the importance of this operation; you must succeed, no room for failure. After a successful mission, I will reward you greatly. You understand the significance of Luoyang Prefecture!”
“Yes!” Lao Er quickly nodded, saying, “If we can’t take down Luoyang City, I’ll bring my head to you!”
The walls of Luoyang City stood five meters tall, and Yao Yue had crafted a pure steel gate weighing several tons; without more than a dozen people, it couldn’t be moved. With such high walls and a sturdy gate, Luoyang Prefecture was nearly impregnable. Hardly anyone could conquer this place, and Yao Yue was very satisfied with the strength of Luoyang City and its gate, having personally designed and reinforced it herself, not only thickening the walls but also strengthening the gate.
Two days passed swiftly, with Luoyang Prefecture’s defenses intensified. The walls had guards every five steps, sentries every ten, securing the entire Prefecture tightly. Not a single opportunity for anyone to exploit was allowed. Yao Yue walked out from within the Prefecture and inspected the walls; her sharp eyes scanned the surroundings, looking at the night outside illuminated brightly.
“Remember to strengthen defenses!” Yao Yue glanced at the guards on the walls.
“Yes, Leader!” The guards nodded one by one, standing straight as arrows, their eyes fixed forward, as if wanting to pierce through the darkness.
Yao Yue looked at the guards with satisfaction, just about to descend from the Luoyang Prefecture’s walls, when suddenly, a huge sound came from nearby, followed by a massive impact; the walls shook and stones fell crashing. The plaque hanging at the Luoyang Prefecture gate fell down. Yao Yue nearly fell from the wall. She quickly crouched on the ground and shouted, “Quick, quick, defend!”
“Charge, charge!!” Outside, out of nowhere, emerged a thousand-strong troop, everyone holding long spears and weapons, roaring out from the darkness. Yao Yue was suddenly shocked, shouting, “Quick, closely guard the gates, don’t let them in!”
The tons-heavy gate slowly closed, and inside the guard room, several soldiers repeatedly pulled levers. Under enormous pulling force, the tons-heavy gate slowly closed, but the outside enemy was nearly at the gate already; soldiers inside the guard room broke into cold sweat, shouting, “Quick, quicker!”
Boom…
Two tons-heavy steel doors crashed together. The deep, resonant sound of collision left the soldiers struck with awe, normally closing the gates never allowed such speed. It had to be done slowly, taking ten minutes to close the gates. This time it took only two minutes, and the impact generated by the gates was equivalent to hundreds of horsepower.
“Oh damn, they closed the gates!” Wa State Tribe soldiers growled in frustration.
“Deploy formation!” The Second Leader of Wa State Tribe, dressed in camouflage with a bulletproof steel helmet, coldly looked at the opponent’s shut gate; the recent massive clash had shattered all wooden reinforcements on the gate.
“Yes!” Soldiers rushed forward.
Over two thousand troops positioned in formation. Gathering around, Wa State Army had blocked both gates of Luoyang Prefecture. The small gate was perpetually closed, and though the main gate was open, it was now secured shut. Second Leader shouted loudly, “Bring out the equipment!”
Clatter…
Five trucks slowly emerged from the darkness, their headlights lighting up the scene. Yao Yue stood on the wall, clearly seeing through the glaring lights massive cannons at the back of the trucks. She was instantly shocked, exclaiming, “Oh no, damn, they actually have cannons!”
