Chapter 1753: Chapter 1756: Taking out a dagger and pressing it hard against her neck
Theodore Lucas waited under the tree for a long time, until the sky darkened, but Tara Hammond never appeared.
What’s going on?
This was a habit she’d developed over the decades. Could she really have changed it just after leaving him?
As he was thinking, a silver sports car appeared at the end of the road in the distance.
Theodore squinted; he recognized that car. It was the one he had originally bought for Evelyn Lucas.
If he couldn’t find Tara, finding Evelyn would do!
Seeing the silver sports car gradually slowing down and approaching, Theodore immediately took the opportunity to rush out.
"Thump, thump, thump——"
His filthy, grimy hands slapped hard on the car window.
Through the tinted window, he saw Evelyn’s face inside the car turn pale with shock when she saw him.
Evelyn wanted to drive through.
But Theodore immediately saw her intention and spread his arms out to block the car.
Though Evelyn was used to being haughty, she wouldn’t run someone over in the camera-heavy Rich District.
The distance to the mansion’s iron gate was still considerable.
Evelyn couldn’t drive in, so she had to roll the window down a small crack.
Then she pulled out three ten-dollar bills from her wallet and stuffed them through the window gap.
"Take it, take it. Where’s this smelly beggar from? Take it and don’t block the way... get lost..."
Evelyn didn’t notice at all that the one blocking the way was Theodore Lucas.
She casually dismissed the scruffy middle-aged man with thirty dollars.
Never once did she associate him with the dignified, elegant Theodore Lucas in her memory.
"You... Evelyn, you think you can dismiss me with such a small amount of money? You’re really underestimating me, Theodore Lucas!"
Theodore, feeling deeply insulted, angrily pointed at Evelyn inside the car and cursed.
Yet with his other hand, he deftly caught the two red bills fluttering out of the car window.
Then quickly stashed them back in his pocket.
"You... who did you say you are?" Evelyn was stunned.
Her eyes staring straight at Theodore!
"Who am I? I am your father! I fed you, clothed you, and raised you this big. What, now that I have no money and power, you turn your back on me?"
Evelyn’s face went rigid, completely unprepared for the possibility that the person before her was Theodore Lucas.
And the way he spoke, the crude words, she had never imagined they could come out of Theodore’s mouth!
Her most instinctual reaction was to feel disgust towards such a filthy man.
But Theodore had once been the person Evelyn admired and respected the most.
She couldn’t help but roll down the window: "How have you been lately? How’s my brother? Is he with you? How did you become like this..."
Evelyn cared not only for Theodore but also for Nolan Lucas.
Of course, such concern was not heartfelt; it was merely a habit developed over the years.
"How dare you ask!" Theodore seized the moment, grabbing Evelyn’s wrist and trying to pull her out.
"If it weren’t for you and that bitch Tara, how would I have ended up like this? And Nolan, if it weren’t for you, how could he disown me!"
"You, what are you doing, let go of me!" Evelyn had never been touched by such filthy hands before.
She was so disgusted she almost vomited last night’s dinner, feeling no shred of respect or admiration for Theodore now.
With her other hand, she picked up the handbag beside her and swung it at Theodore.
"Don’t move, one more move and don’t blame me for being ruthless!" Suddenly, Theodore pulled out a knife and pressed it hard against Evelyn’s neck.
