Capítulo 1793: Chapter 1796 A Truly Ridiculous Request
“Great-grand…” Lily paused briefly, then corrected herself: “Has Mr. Scott passed away?”
Bella hadn’t noticed Lily’s unfamiliarity with Mr. Scott’s title and, wiping away tears, said: “Yes, it’s all our own fault. That time at the auction, the last remaining assets of the Scott family were squandered by your grandfather. Later, when the old man woke up in the hospital and found out your grandfather had been humiliated at the auction, he just… he just…”
Bella couldn’t continue.
She just covered her mouth, crying relentlessly.
The old man, who had been wise and powerful for a lifetime, was humiliated like that, angered to death by his own son in a hospital bed.
And the most pathetic thing is, because during his life, he reached a level where people and gods were indignant at him.
He had already severed ties with Larry and his group.
So, even after his death, Sylvia and Larry did not pay respects as members of the Scott family.
“Lilith, your great-grandfather didn’t have it easy this lifetime. Your great-grandmother passed away early, and he alone raised me and your uncle, as well as the grandchildren, through hard work if not accomplishment. Before he passed, your great-grandfather’s only wish was for our Scott family to reunite and reconcile.”
“I know, I was wrong to you and your mother in the past. But… I know my mistakes now. Lilith, help me this time, help Hannah, and in doing so fulfill your great-grandfather’s last wish, okay?”
Lily had never seen someone like Bella.
It’s not that she wasn’t obligated to fulfill any wish of Mr. Scott.
Even if she was, that wish wasn’t to help Bella and Hannah.
Bella’s shamelessness and absurdity made Lily feel suffocated, just about to lash out and drive her away, when a man’s warm, large hand clasped her hand.
“Don’t rush, let me speak to her for a moment.”
Aidan Lucas had long noticed Lily’s impatience and, to prevent Lily from getting angry, he comforted her.
He looked at Bella kneeling on the ground, his tone cold, “You want us to help Hannah, how do you want us to help? Save her? Or expose Frank Chamberlain’s true nature?”
“This…” Bella was taken aback.
She evidently hadn’t expected Aidan Lucas to ask such a question.
She gathered her thoughts and said: “Hannah worked hard to become the First Lady, she certainly doesn’t want to give up now. As for exposing Frank Chamberlain… well, that really wouldn’t be good. After all, they are about to be married, their fates are intertwined, better not…”
Bella’s attitude was indecisive, not at all straightforward.
Plus, she spoke with hesitation, achieving nothing despite talking for so long.
Aidan Lucas couldn’t help but frown, adding another layer of suspicion to Bella’s purpose here.
His large hand on Lily’s back, he gently kneaded.
Held in his embrace, feeling the man’s unusual gesture, Lily instinctively caught on to his intention.
Before Bella could speak, Lily interjected: “Enough enough… you’re right, we’re family at the end of the day. Now that great-grandfather is gone, the Scott family only has you left outside… For the sake of my mother and uncle, we’ll help you and Hannah. Tell us… how you want us to help you.”
Upon hearing this, Bella immediately looked joyful.
She bowed to Lily several times, her movements seemingly genuine, completely willing.
After she finished bowing, she said: “It’s simple, at Hannah and Frank Chamberlain’s wedding, I’d like to invite you and Mr. Lucas as Hannah’s family. Especially Lilith, you, as Hannah’s cousin, if you’ll accompany them at the wedding, it’d give Hannah more honor when she marries into the Chamberlain family in the future.”
