Chapter 743: Chapter 115: A Sudden Change

Early morning.

Aske slowly woke up in bed.

So tired, he felt as if his body had been hollowed out.

He had never realized before that teaching could be such a painful affair.

It wasn’t that everyone was slow, in fact, the girls were quite intelligent. After all, they had studied under him for nearly two years and their way of thinking was completely in sync with the players; he only needed to explain the theories briefly and everyone would understand.

The problem was that everyone’s “thirst for knowledge” was too high, which meant they kept asking him increasingly difficult questions… Well, he had intended to explain these to them gradually, but he hadn’t expected the girls to have already self-learned to this extent.

It was like undergraduate students suddenly starting to self-study postgraduate courses, which left him, a doctoral advisor, both gratified and weary.

Not until one o’clock in the morning did Aske belatedly awaken to realize that the girls might not be there just for the sake of learning…

but to linger in his room to monitor and prevent others from staying there.

Although this sounded a bit convoluted, if one thought about the incident that happened in the seaside town hotel in Sicily, they would fully understand. The mutual trust between people is very important, and once that trust is lost, it is extremely difficult to regain.

It’s like if everyone queues up, order is maintained; however, as soon as one person cuts in line, the rest start to furiously do the same.

After spending some time shooing the girls away, Aske finally managed to go to bed and sleep, only to start having nightmares.

He dreamed that he had married all the girls in his team (of course, he had no such thoughts in real life, but anything could appear in a dream), and then he was eating and drinking in the manor hall on Fire Island, with Nora cooking for everyone.

After eating and drinking his fill, he got drunk, and upon waking, he found himself tied to a chair, with a battered Nora walking up to him, holding a kitchen knife saying that she had already killed all the other girls…

Aske was dumbfounded at the time, and Nora in the dream had completely turned dark, wearing a creepy, eerie smile, even showing him a video of her knife-wielding comrade.

Then she was about to castrate Aske and commit suicide, but fortunately, he was about to wake up from the dream when he suddenly remembered that he was skilled in martial arts… no, that he possessed Extraordinary Power.

Thus, a conceptual weapon Short Knife appeared in his hand, he cut the ropes while blocking the kitchen knife in Nora’s hand, and simultaneously silenced her Law Ability (Star Nine Forms. Destruction), finally holding the bloodied, scarred Nora in his arms.

“You…” Aske fell silent for a long time before he uttered a sentence, “turn yourself in!”

That’s when the dream ended.

Upon waking, he first broke out in a cold sweat, then slowly regained his composure.

First of all, he wasn’t a stud.

Secondly, he wouldn’t be threatened by a kitchen knife because he was a formidable fighter, not even a group would be a match for him.

As for being drugged… like in the dream where Nora drugged him to castrate him, his Intuitive Ability would have warned him before he started drinking.

Was the danger sensing of the Intuition Sequence just for show?

After convincing himself with a series of theories, Aske still felt somewhat heavy-hearted. He got out of bed, walked to the window, and took a few deep breaths.

Then, he saw a group of half-elves surrounding the neighboring treehouses below. Dressed in green clothes, carrying bows and arrows, handguns hanging on either side of their hips, and wearing hats with feathers protruding from them, they resembled the Robin Hood of Western legends.

Some of the half-elves even looked up here, showing a hint of wariness in their expressions.

It wasn’t long before someone knocked on the door outside.

“Excuse me.” The person outside said, then clicked the key and opened the door.

Turning around, Aske saw several green-clad half-elves enter, firearms in hand, speaking in an official tone:

“We are from the Royal City’s security team, a citizen has reported a homicide here, and now we need your cooperation with our investigation.”

“Murder?” Aske was slightly taken aback before his expression changed dramatically, “Who died?!”

“A guest staying nearby,” the security team member exchanged a calm look and answered, “According to the hotel’s registration, he seems to have been your guide?”

Oh, that guide.

Aske breathed a sigh of relief.

Although he had a fairly good impression of the half-elf young man and regretted his passing, if it came to choosing between the girls and him, the answer was obviously the former.

Fortunately, the girls were unharmed.

However, the expression he unconsciously showed caught the eyes of the security team members, immediately causing some sort of unfavorable reaction.

Noticing the hostility emanating from them, Aske quickly reacted. Since the first impression was already marked, he did not do anything to exacerbate it but simply cooperated with them and left the treehouse.

Beneath the treehouse, the confused girls were also brought out. In the center of the clearing, there stood a stretcher covered with a white cloth, surrounded by a crowd of half-elf onlookers.

If it had been the Aske of old, he would have instantly sensed a “mission feel” in the air, but having adapted to local customs for a while, his intuition had dulled, so he merely stared blankly at the corpse on the ground.

In that split second, a half-elf woman burst from the crowd, weeping loudly as she rushed toward the body and threw off the white cloth.

The security members quickly rushed over to stop her, but the body was already exposed before the crowd: its complexion was purple and bloodshot eyes bulged as deep ligature marks encircled the neck.

The sight frightened the onlookers; some screamed, some stepped back, and many bore expressions too pained to watch directly.

“It was you! You killed him!” The half-elf woman, sobbing on the corpse, suddenly lifted her head and shrieked hysterically at Aske.

Aske: ???

A thought suddenly jumped into his mind:

Oh, it’s a framing…

Before anyone could react, the woman furiously charged forward, drawing a dagger and stabbing at Aske.

The girls reacted swiftly, too. Before Aske could move, Mia instantly teleported in front of him, then leapt up and spin-kicked the half-elf woman, sending her flying.

The woman fell to the ground with the force of the kick, turned her neck awkwardly, vomited blood, and then went limp.

Mia: ???

Eh? When did I become so strong?

But she had no time to ponder that, as the watching crowd erupted in an uproar, with many indignant half-elves rushing forward, intending to exact justice on the spot.

The security members could only form a human wall, attempting to hold back the furious mob, but they faltered under the overwhelming numbers. The girls retreated to Aske’s side, all sensing something amiss about the situation. Medea, sensing a thick malevolence, suggested,

“Shall we run?”

“Should I make them all quiet down?” Nora asked.

“Why not just erase their memories?” Medea was eager to try.

“Or just kill them all, save us the trouble,” Sigrdrifa suggested.

Everyone: ???

“That’s a bit too much, hey.” Eleanor quickly interjected.

“Hahaha, I was just kidding,” Sigrdrifa said with a slight smile.

But from your expression just now, it didn’t look like you were kidding at all! Eleanor thought to herself.
