Chapter 546: Secret Revealed?
Chapter 546
Thud! Thud! Thud!
"Ack!"
GROWL!
"Fuck!" Grey cursed angrily as his body bounced violently across the ground before finally coming to a skidding halt. He spat blood onto the dirt, his face twisted into a low scowl.
His back was bleeding profusely from where one of the beasts had stabbed him.
A few metres away, twelve beasts stood in formation, their grotesque bodies outlined by the faint glow of the night, their eyes glimmering with malice as their claws flexed in perfect sync with the shadows.
’Crap! That hurt!’ Grey thought bitterly. He placed his hand behind him and felt the warm crimson liquid steadily dripping, soaking his palm as it gushed from his wound.
Swirling Ki to the injured part, he focused his will to slow the bleeding and seal the wound as best he could. With effort, he slowly rose to his feet, his eyes locking onto the scowling beasts who were already poised to strike.
And then, they did.
"You all made a big mistake." Grey’s voice was low and cold. He spat another mouthful of blood onto the ground, his glare sharp enough to slice through steel as the pack charged at him with thunderous growls.
Without hesitation, his sword vanished from his hand, and instead, lightning began crackling violently around his fists, arcs of electric energy dancing and snapping in the air. The beasts closed the distance in seconds, but so did Grey’s fury.
BANG!
A thunderclap-like sound tore through the night as Grey shot upward into the skies like a cannonball. Lightning trailed behind his body, streaking across the dark clouds, bolts lashing down and splitting the earth as the beasts froze mid-charge, their savage eyes following him upward.
In one fluid motion, Grey twisted in the air, his entire body shimmering like a lightning bolt. He nosedived with blistering speed, a living spear of destruction, and then smashed directly into the middle of the beasts.
BOOOM!
The explosion was devastating. A colossal shockwave blasted outward, sending the monsters staggering as sparks of lightning tore across their bodies, sizzling flesh and filling the air with the stench of scorched fur.
Dust and rubble shot up while a violent gust of wind burst in all directions, rattling the trees and forcing the twelve beasts to stumble, their footing shattered.
"Begone." Grey’s voice was a death sentence.
In a flash, he blurred forward, appearing before one of the beasts. His hands grabbed its tusks, electricity sparking down his arms into its skull. With a roar, Grey’s muscles bulged, Ki surging into his arms as he ripped the tusks free from the beast’s face in a spray of blood.
Without wasting a breath, he spun on his heel and slammed a lightning-charged kick into its abdomen. The sheer force sent its body crashing violently into another beast, both collapsing in a tangled heap of gore.
GROWL!
A furious cry came from behind him. Instinct screamed, and Grey spun just in time, crossing the tusks in his hands to block a claw strike. The impact sent him skidding several inches across the dirt, sparks flying as the tusks clashed against the beast’s hardened claws.
A sharp whooshing sound sliced toward him from the side. Grey tilted his head at the last instant, narrowly avoiding the lethal strike, his tongue clicking in annoyance.
With a flick of his wrist, a lightning arrow materialized and shot straight through the skull of the beast beside him. Its head erupted in a burst of fire and smoke, leaving a gaping, smoldering hole.
The monster in front of him staggered as Grey slammed his foot into the ground. Lightning arcs surged across the dirt, striking upward and coursing through its body, paralyzing it where it stood. In the next breath, Grey rammed one of the tusks into its head. Its body convulsed before being flung away like a ragdoll.
Four beasts down. Eight more left.
Their eyes burned with renewed frenzy, their bodies lowering as they gathered to strike. They wasted no time, their claws digging into the earth as they charged at him like a tidal wave of death.
Grey narrowed his eyes, Ki swirling violently into his palm. His grip tightened around the last tusk. With every ounce of strength condensed into his arm, he hurled it forward with a vicious roar.
BANG!
The sound was like a gunshot, ripping through the air as the tusk spun with lethal velocity, tearing through the night sky and streaking toward the nearest beast like a bolt of destruction.
Another deafening bang echoed out as the tusk shot forward like a spear and slammed into the beast’s skull. The impact drove straight through its head, impaling it with brutal force before nailing the creature into the ground. Its body twitched violently before falling still, a low, sickening thud rumbling across the battlefield.
Seven remained.
They wasted no time, their bloodlust intensifying as they roared in unison and charged. Two angled from his flanks while the rest surged straight ahead. A claw suddenly streaked toward Grey’s face, its speed vicious, but he ducked sharply, the razor-like strike cutting clean through the air above him.
Before he could regain full balance, a heavy kick shot toward his face. Grey’s palms instinctively came up, catching the attack. The raw power behind the strike forced him backward, his heels digging trenches into the dirt as he skidded a few inches away. His arms trembled faintly from the blow, but his smirk only deepened.
’Luckily, I managed to reawaken my lightning magic, which is giving me an edge in speed against these beasts. Otherwise, as a stage 2 warrior, I stood no chance against their overwhelming swiftness,’ Grey thought. His smirk grew sharper, and with his hood falling off, the confidence was plain on his face.
GROWL!
Another beast lunged from behind, its claw whistling through the night. Grey pivoted smoothly, his instincts razor sharp. The claw strike ripped through empty air, grazing past his cloak as he spun, Ki swirling violently into his leg.
CRACK!
His roundhouse kick slammed into the beast’s neck, the sound of bones snapping echoing into the air as its body was flung like a broken doll, crashing into the ground in a heap.
Six left.
The surviving beasts quickly adapted. Snarling viciously, they shifted formation. Two closed in from the front, two circled to his back, and one positioned itself on either side. Their movements were unnervingly precise, like a coordinated strike squad closing in for the kill.
Grey sighed softly, his eyes narrowing. "You underestimate me a lot, and that isn’t good for your health. After all, there’s a reason I am called the Supreme Magus."
The words were calm, almost casual, yet they carried the sharp edge of absolute confidence.
As the beasts rushed him, Grey lifted his hand high above his head. Lightning instantly crackled around his palm, arcs dancing wildly in every direction, illuminating the night with violent bursts of light. The sheer pressure in the air grew thick, and even the ground beneath him trembled faintly.
"Just die, you inferior beings!" Grey roared. His voice thundered as he slammed his hand down, Ki surging violently through him. Lightning and wind intertwined around his palm, swirling together into an unstable storm of raw energy.
BOOOM!
The explosion ripped outward, a massive shockwave of combined lightning and gale-force wind slamming into the beasts. They were flung back in all directions, their claws scrabbling for purchase as their bodies skidded harshly across the torn earth.
Before they could recover, Grey moved.
Lightning wrapped around his feet and wind carried him forward. His sword appeared in his grip with a sharp shimmer of steel. With a deafening bang, his body blurred. To the beasts, all that remained were streaks of lightning and the shrill crack of air splitting apart.
One head rolled to the dirt. Then another. And another.
In rapid succession, the six beasts fell. Black blood sprayed violently with each strike, their visions filled only with blinding flashes of white-blue lightning before death claimed them.
And just like that, Grey had wiped out all twelve Sky Ranked beasts. His chest rose and fell with heavy breaths, and blood from his back continued to pour profusely, but a wide grin still stretched across his face. The thrill of power, the undeniable rush of magic and Ki blending in harmony—he relished it.
But the grin didn’t last.
"What the hell?! Grey?"
The stunned voice froze him. His eyes widened, his body stiffening as he spun around in shock.
His magic—his most guarded secret—had just been revealed to another student.
