Chapter 466: A chance

Chapter 466: A chance

Meanwhile... back in the Bloodlands... a few hours earlier...

"Dream on. Dream on. Dream on. Dream until your dreams come true. True. True. True." Damon swung his hips and danced around as he sliced another horde of demonic beasts that lunged at him.

Blades of blood flashed. Limbs flew. The beasts hit the ground in a spray of dark blood. Damon laughed and kept dancing in the same spot as he absorbed all the blood essence spilled all over.

The elven girl who was sitting on the ground near him, holding her knees and trembling, stared at the scene in shock. There was fear in her eyes as she eyed the monster corpses all around her. But there was even more shock and horror when her gaze fell on Damon and how casually and effortlessly he was dealing with everything that came his way.

"What are you looking at, green eyes? Is this your first time seeing someone fight or what? It’s not like I am going to kill you next?" Damon wryly chuckled. He liked it much better when the girl was sleeping and didn’t stare at him with those judgmental eyes that seemed to hate violence.

"Do you know what’s going to happen if I don’t fight and kill them? We will die. They will eat us alive. Do you know what’s going to happen if you continue to be a scared little girl like this? One day, someone will snatch you again and push you into a life a lot more miserable than this."

Damon dismissed the blood sword and sat down with a sigh as he used his wind magic to gather all the loot around.

"You need to become stronger. You need to be able to fend for yourself. I mean, do you always want to be a sad little slave girl? I am sure life has been miserable for you, but you are safe now. Use this opportunity to become stronger."

"Well, you can also continue to be this helpless little mute girl. I will be protecting you for the time being, and later will probably leave you in a safe place where you do not have to worry about anything. But at the end of the day, unless you become strong, I don’t think you will ever feel safe."

"Any thoughts?"

The elven girl only continued to stare at him dumbly. Damon let out a sigh and did not bother talking to her anymore. He had tried talking to her in a bunch of different ways. He already did the sympathy role. He tried to be understanding. Short of promising her freedom, he pretty much did everything else, and still, there was no response.

"Ah fuck." Damon scratched his head and sat down beside her. He had already told her that, unlike him, she was free to move around, but the elven girl showed no signs of moving.

Instead, the world around them started moving.

Damon’s eyes lit up. Whoever placed the curse on him surely did not take into account the fact that he was sitting in the middle of complex formations that changed the very space he was in. The whole place rearranged itself every few hours, and it looked like that time was finally here.

So what was going to happen now? Age-old freaky formations set up by some old monstrous vampire or his curse? Which was going to win?

Well, technically, the curse could still win. It seems to be an extremely powerful one just from what little knowledge he had about curses. So he couldn’t just let Jesus take the wheel and hope for the best. He needed to ensure that he used this chance properly and gave it the push it required.

Damon had been spending a few hours sitting idly now, and he managed to rummage through his brain and think of something. There were many different types of curses in Earth Online, and many different types of professions could use them.

However, a curse as powerful as this one was probably stuck to his very soul. Not his body, not his mind, but directly his soul. That had to be the reason why he was unable to even log out and get back to the real world.

However, dealing with one’s soul was completely different from dealing with one’s mana core. Even if they were moderately talented, one would be able to easily reach for their mana core and learn how to use it. But the same couldn’t be said for the soul.

One needed to be truly talented to get a sense for their soul like that old man Artimius or Sylvara, and even more talented to be able to use soul energy.

Damon was pretty sure that those ice clan guys had only a third-tier soul cultivation technique in their possession, and hence, their current condition was pathetic. But everything would change if they truly came into possession of techniques of a higher caliber.

The same went for the other super ten. If all these guys managed to get their hands on anything related to soul, Damon would be fucked over. This was also one of the reasons why he wanted to get his hands on a soul-strengthening technique and catch up to them.

Of course, there was also his injury and the fact that his primordial mana core could potentially explode from the inside out at any given instant, blasting him and his soul.

Considering all of this, one could say that this was not his first brush against his soul. Maybe there was a way he could reach for his soul and even take everything a step forward and identify the mark of the curse, or at least the presence of it on his soul.

If by chance he ended up doing something like that, then there was a very real possibility he could simply erase the damn thing from within him.

It was a bad idea. A stupid idea. He had absolutely zero chances of achieving it, but he had no other ideas at the moment. It was time to give this one a try.
