Chapter 468: Let’s work this out

Damon bitterly smiled. It was true that he wished for more of these lions so he could get at their unique skills, but he was fine if his wish was not particularly fulfilled.

For the next couple of minutes, Damon poured everything into the fight. He pushed his body and his mana to the limit and fired off every powerful skill he had.

Divine Bladestorm tore the air into silver rain. Radiant Wellspring kept him breathing while Bastion of the Condemned took the worst of the hits. He spat poison needles, lashed out with Blood Whip, and slammed down a Divine Punishment like a hammer. Blood Bind iced the faster ones in place so the divine blades could finish the job.

Damon utterly squeezed everything he had and blasted all of his powerful attacks multiple times to finally slaughter all ten demonheart ferocious lions. In the end, even that was not enough, and he was forced to use his trump card, [Fire Breath].

The ten lions fell one by one, roaring, then collapsing into smoking heaps of fur and dark blood.

Damon sat down and hurriedly absorbed all of the blood essence he could get his hands on. His breathing was ragged, and he was completely exhausted, but the rich blood essence nourished him and made it all a little better.

Not to mention, his luck finally took a turn for the better, and he obtained the two skills he was most interested in.

[Demonheart Fire] and [Red Blood]

One skill contained traces of Hellfire, and the other skill helped to amplify the first skill. He had also gained a good amount of stats along with the two skills, plus pretty good drops, all sweetening the pot.

"I should see just how much this can strengthen my flaming crimson lance." Damon licked his lips. "Also, my fire breath. Heh. Maybe I do need stronger opponents after all." He mumbled and chuckled to himself before closing his eyes and taking a breather.

The next couple of hours passed by uneventfully, and Damon started training, reaching out to his soul. The next shuffling could take place any second now, and when it happened, he wanted to be prepared for it.

"I hope it doesn’t take too long."

He let out a small sigh, closed his eyes, and went back to training. Coincidentally, a strange feeling enveloped him, and when he flashed his eyes open, he saw that the world around them was once again changing.

"Fuck." Damon cursed and hurriedly started trying to grab his soul. He did want the shuffling to happen sooner rather than later, but he did not want it to happen this early.

He once again tried to do his very best, but in the end, it was completely useless. He was now in a new area, and the curse was still in place. More importantly, staring at him was a six-headed snake, all heads looking at him with vicious killing intent.

"Excuse me. Maybe we can work this out. I have many snake pets. You can be one of them. I am the Venom King’s heir."

Damon proudly declared, but almost instantly, numerous powerful beams came down on him. The damned snake did not give him any time at all, and it seemed not to give two shits about the Venom King.

"You have got to be kidding me." All six beams were quite powerful, and they were all focused at the same spot, which he was currently locked in, making the attacks even more deadly. Normally, he would have evaded a shitty, powerful skill like this, but now he was forced to take the brunt of it.

And he had to protect the elf, too.

"You cannot always use my God’s name to get out of trouble." The familiar voice mentally scoffed at him, but Damon did not have the time to respond to the bitchy snake item spirit. He said a mental fuck you and once again erected [Bastion of the Condemned] and quickly followed it up with his two other powerful divine skills.

This gave him a moment, and he was finally able to see the stats of the damned snake.

[Ding! Level 223, Six-headed Hell Serpent, Elite Rank]

This demonic beast was even higher leveled than the demonheart ferocious lion!

Damon was utterly dumbfounded. What the hell was happening? That too, this one was another Elite rank monster? Also, weirdly, this demonic beast seemed to be capable of using hellfire? It was too much of a coincidence.

Damon once again spent the next few minutes in a bitter struggle with the six-headed serpent. With the elven girl dragging him down like a dead weight, it was almost touch-and-go a few times in between. In the end, he had to toss the girl aside just to make sure that she was not in a danger zone.

Not that it mattered. The exchange attacks were so brutal that there was no safe space in the nearby area. Damon had to pull out every trick he had, including his [Fire Breath], to end the fight. He had to work out using hellfire on the spot and combine [Demonheart Fire] with [Fire Breath] and [Burning Crimson Lance] right then and there.

Finally, using his shadow clone to launch a sneak attack, he managed to sever one of the heads, and from there, everything eventually turned out in his favor. Soon, all the heads dropped one after the other, and the snake finally collapsed without any fight left in it.

Damon was not doing that much better either. He was dripping with blood and sweat. These high-ranking monsters didn’t exactly fall easily prey to his poisonous blood, making everything all the more difficult.

Moreover, these beasts seem to have a solid stat foundation. He couldn’t really overpower them with his abundant stats thanks to the level difference. Things were beginning to get tricky.

Also, Damon had a bad feeling. His gut told him that the next shuffle wouldn’t be simple at all.

As he mulled over what the hell was going on and why he was jumping from one monstrosity to another instead of being randomly shuffled over to a demon bunny, something sparkling caught his eye.
