Chapter 1561: Sofia’s Objective

Chapter 1561: Chapter 1561: Sofia’s Objective

McWhite was utterly befuddled by Sofia’s response, taking a long moment before asking, "Supernatural abilities?"

"I’ve already answered plenty," Sofia’s expression turned somewhat sour, "Now, it’s your turn to answer my question... Why did you seek me out?"

We sought you out... hoping to take you for investigation, McWhite sighed inwardly.

He was aware that Sofia might possess some extraordinary methods, but in his view, no matter how advanced your methods are, can they withstand Guojia’s machinery? When the machinery is fully operational, there’s a ninety-nine percent chance it can bring extraordinary methods under effective management.

But now... he was genuinely unsure; her methods were unusually uncanny, almost like divine revelations.

A simple "I declare! You are guilty," and the famously hot-tempered William collapsed on the ground, life or death unknown.

Moreover, she could discern the origins of everyone and claimed her abilities came from the Sacred Object, "Jinwu Sunflower."

McWhite thought it over several times and cautiously asked, "So, was the unconsciousness of those people due to their guilt?"

Anyway, probing for more information is the right path.

"You’re overstepping!" Sofia stated with a blank expression, "You’ve never answered my question!"

Upon hearing this, McWhite began to sweat coldly on his forehead, even on this chilly morning, because he recalled how Jason had first angered this girl by only questioning and not addressing her questions.

So he immediately replied, "There are many important issues we need to clarify with you, such as the disappearance of our most advanced signal vehicle nearby, and the members on board are the three who were severely frostbitten. Do you know anything about this?"

Sofia shook her head, "I’m not interested in these trivial matters."

Claiming ignorance certainly wouldn’t be appropriate, but the Jansen Family was involved in the search; still, she wouldn’t admit to knowing.

McWhite also found her response slippery, so he continued to apply pressure, "That vehicle contained Mai Nation’s latest research achievements; its theft implies a leak of top technology. Do you still persist that you know nothing?"

Sofia was predictably led astray by his seemingly plausible words, "I’ve already said, I’m not aware of the matter."

"I am now questioning you on behalf of Mai Nation’s government," McWhite said earnestly, "You should be aware of the consequences of lying."

Sofia defiantly responded, "You’d better also consider the repercussions of angering me."

"Alright, let’s talk about something else," McWhite didn’t want to dwell on this subject any longer, as the other party clearly didn’t want to admit attacking FBI staff, so he decided to put it aside for now, "Martin’s room; you’ve rented it for ten years, is that correct?"

Sofia, however, answered with a counterquestion, "Why, have any laws been violated?"

McWhite had been with the FBI for over a decade, and people who refuse to answer questions properly are truly rare— at first, someone might be defiant, but FBI employees would teach them to comply.

Yet, at this moment, he could only speak according to her tone, "I’m just confirming facts. Now, formally asking... Is everything inside yours?"

Sofia again answered with a counterquestion, "Are there any prohibited items?"

This dialogue style, I really dislike! McWhite gnashes his teeth inwardly, while outwardly maintaining composure, "There are some items inside that involve Mai Nation’s Guojia security."

This statement would generally be tricky for the average person to respond to, but Sofia was indeed deserving of the title ’quirky elf,’ as she blinked her large eyes, "Is it my doing?"

Alright then, I shouldn’t exaggerate things with a young girl! McWhite sighs, "Sorry, the wording was inaccurate; it’s not ’involved,’ but ’related to’ Mai Nation’s Guojia security."

Sofia’s face darkened, "Listen, I’m not interested in Guojia security, and I hate others using this pretext to monitor me; it sickens me. Well... You can leave now!"

With that being said, I have no choice! McWhite glanced around and asked with a forced smile, "Where’s that young white man? Could you invite him out for a meeting?"

"He’s already left, and I don’t know where he’s gone," Sofia replied defiantly, "Given the FBI’s omnipotence, you guys can go find him."

"It seems we need to conduct a search," McWhite said leisurely and produced a document, "This is the general search warrant; you can read it."

Sofia’s face darkened, "I declare! Anyone searching my room without a special search warrant is guilty!"

Upon hearing this, everyone shivered, and for a moment, no one dared to step forward— another judgment?

At that moment, a tousled-haired young man stepped out of a car, shook his head at McWhite— the room was empty.

These four vehicles also had instruments to detect life force fields, not just infrared detection.

"Alright then," McWhite took the opportunity to retract his words, "No need to check, I trust you. Now, I pose one last request: I hope Miss Sofia cooperates by taking a trip to headquarters."

Sofia shook her head and coolly replied, "I don’t want to go."

"Sorry, but I’m afraid this can’t be done at your will," McWhite spread his hands, speaking with a bit of helplessness, "The matters you’re involved in are very serious. I think it’s best if we candidly talk things through."

Sofia spoke slowly, "Those who attempt to forcibly twist my will shall live in pain and regret for life."

"Alright, that’s enough," a guy who looked like a Mohawk speaker spoke up, "I worship the Moon-worship Sect, you have no right to judge me."

The religious background on Sofia made most people quite apprehensive — regardless of whether they were fanatics or believers.

However, those with firm beliefs in different faiths might not fear her.

A flash of annoyance crossed Sofia’s eyes as she pinched a spell in her hand, pointing at him, "Thunder and lightning!"

A bolt of lightning flashed, followed by a thunderclap, and the man instantly fell to the ground.

Those present were so frightened by the sight that they all shuddered in unison.

However, those who came this time were the FBI elites. At least seven or eight people suppressed the fear in their hearts, raised their guns, and aimed them at Sofia, "Put your hands up, or we’ll shoot."

Sofia, however, did not raise her hands, "Harm done to me will be returned tenfold... an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, a foot for a foot."

With those words, who the hell dared to open fire?

However, even though she portrayed herself as some sort of deity for a while, she was eventually invited into a car by the FBI people. McWhite compensated Johnson with five Mai dollars — this amount was quite sincere.

In fact, Sofia being invited away by the FBI was actually her intention. Because the matter she caused in Mai Nation was already too big, she had to leave Mai Nation next; otherwise, the ensuing events would be endless, and Feng Jun couldn’t accompany her in this turmoil indefinitely.

So her next goal was to go abroad, preferably obtain another country’s citizenship, which would make things much easier.

It was precisely because of this that she was very concerned about her passport. After all, smuggling out of the country and then applying for citizenship is far more difficult than going abroad through normal means.

And now what she had to do was to strive to intimidate the opponent, not allowing them to create any trouble during her exit process.

No one among those who came to take her dared to easily offend her. The person from the Moon-worship Sect only received minor punishment, standing up just three seconds after the lightning strike, but he never dared to provoke verbally again.

Jason – that redneck William – was in a much more serious condition, never waking up after falling unconscious. Later, Sofia no longer paid attention to him, and everyone quietly treated him, but he remained unresponsive.

A female employee named Linda couldn’t resist quietly asking Sofia a question — when would Jason wake up?

Sofia didn’t answer directly. She only stated, "Even Saint Judge David didn’t dare to call me a bitch, being a redneck isn’t a pass for rudeness."

Linda had a vague suspicion: Jason might never wake up again in his life.

The subsequent developments proved her suspicion correct.

They were to take Sofia to a stronghold 450 kilometers away, not the FBI headquarters, but an important hub in the west.

The snowmobile didn’t drive very fast. They set off at noon, and around three in the afternoon, a call came in saying two FBI agents left behind locally had fallen unconscious.

These two agents somewhat brought it upon themselves, attempting to enter Sofia’s residence around three o’clock — not to install monitoring or listening equipment, and the fact proved treating Sofia in such a way was pointless; it would be better to install it in her neighbor’s yard.

They tried to check Sofia’s room — Sofia’s secret techniques were powerful, even with a bit of the "Holy Preacher" style, speaking with authority, and no one dared to provoke in her presence.

But when she wasn’t around, there was no harm in trying, right?

However, very unfortunately, although Johnson and Rose couldn’t stop them, both fell and fainted when entering the yard, attempting to enter the room.

Johnson was quite dissatisfied with being punched in the morning, so he kept urging maid Rose to stay calm. After smoking three cigarettes, he reported to the Jansen Family — "We’ve thought for a long time and still can’t make a decision, what should we do now?"

The Jansen Family’s choice, of course, was to inform the FBI.

McWhite had to consult Sofia again: What exactly happened?

Sofia’s face didn’t look good either, "I’ve already left with you, and you still send people to search my room, so... isn’t an accident deserved?"

Her expression wasn’t pleasant for a reason. She assumed Feng Jun would always be silently following and watching over her, and now... had this guy not even set out?

In fact, Feng Jun’s choice wasn’t wrong. He left a Divine Sense impression on Sofia, and four hundred kilometers wasn’t really that far. What could happen on this bit of distance along the way?

Might as well stay a little longer in place to enhance Sofia’s mystique.

McWhite didn’t know any of this; he didn’t even mind her change in attitude. What he cared about was, "Those two might have mishandled, can they wake up quickly?"
