Chapter 317: Hidden Meaning
As the masked young woman’s writing brush moved on top of the notebook, she muttered, "Fairy Bai’s phone can capture images of living beings. She favors the camera function because it is convenient."
"Fairy Bai will print the photos of Xiao Cui and the others, and hand them to Master once she returns to Heaven so Master can give them to Xiao Cui and the others."
Finished writing her notes, the masked young woman tucked the notebook and writing brush away and thought, ’This mission is so nice. Not only do I get more snacks as a reward, but I also get to learn Heaven’s mysteries from Fairy Bai.’
Half an hour later, a young maidservant stood outside Bai Hanyun’s bedroom. Lowering her head, she respectfully said, "Miss Bai, breakfast is ready. The Young Master invites you to dine with him."
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun looked at her blurry reflection in the bronze mirror and checked her hair. After making sure that everything was perfect, she said, "Alright. Let’s go."
With that, Xiao Cui supported her arm and gently said, "Please walk slowly, Miss Bai."
Seeing Xiao Cui treat her like a fragile porcelain doll, Bai Hanyun was speechless but decided not to say anything.
Walking out of her bedroom, Bai Hanyun looked at the young maidservant and smiled. "Please lead the way, little sister."
The young maidservant was flattered and felt honored when Bai Hanyun called her "little sister," and she quickly replied, "Please come this way, Miss Bai."
With the young maidservant leading the way, Bai Hanyun left for the dining room, followed by Xiao Cui and the four second-ranked maidservants.
From the rooftop, the masked young woman saw this grand procession. She took out her notebook and writing brush, scribbling quickly.
"Fairy Bai is very beautiful, wearing the blue dress adorned with the Dong Zhu gifted by Master. Her long, silky hair flows on her back like a black curtain, graceful beyond compare. One sentence to describe her is a fairy from the Nine Heavens."
After putting her notebook and writing brush away, the masked young woman stood on the rooftop, circulated her internal energy, and then activated her lightness skill.
In the next instant, she vanished from the rooftop like a gentle breeze.
After walking twenty minutes through long corridors, the training ground, and several barren gardens, Bai Hanyun and her attendants finally reached the dining room.
When she entered the spacious dining room, she saw Feng Xiyan and Gui Ying already waiting.
"Sorry to keep you two waiting," Bai Hanyun said as she took a seat beside Feng Xiyan.
Feng Xiyan smiled, scooped a bowl of hot porridge, and placed it before her. "We didn’t wait long. Did you sleep well last night?"
Bai Hanyun smiled and nodded, her mood bright. "Thanks to you, I slept very well."
Watching them act so intimately so early in the morning, Gui Ying sipped his tea and playfully teased, "Aiya~ today’s breakfast is so sweet. My tooth is about to fall out. Can someone bring me another pot of tea?"
When he said this, the male servant waiting on the said stepped forward and replied, "Please wait for a moment, Young Master Gui. We will bring another pot of tea for you."
Gui Ying nodded and looked at Feng Xiyan and Bai Hanyun with interest clear in his deep eyes.
Listening to Gui Ying’s words, Bai Hanyun sensed a hidden meaning behind his words. She glanced at him, puzzled, but also curious.
Seeing her confused look, Gui Ying only chuckled and began eating.
Noticing their silent exchange, Feng Xiyan said, "Miss Bai, let’s eat first. After breakfast, we will begin our plan."
Bai Hanyun’s eyes lit up at his words. She nodded eagerly and responded, "Mhm, let’s hurry. There are a lot of things to do today."
With that, the three quickly finished their meal. Before long, they walked out of the Great General’s mansion.
Looking at Bai Hanyun, Feng Xiyan said, "Miss Bai, I need to go to the underground prison and relocate the war prisoners to the open field, so I can’t go with you."
"Alright." Bai Hanyun nodded, then Feng Xiyan called, "Feng Wu."
The moment his words fell, Feng Wu appeared before Feng Xiyan and knelt. Clasping his fists, he said respectfully, "Master, what are your instructions?"
Feng Xiyan looked at him calmly and ordered, "Protect Miss Bai. Without my order, do not leave her side."
"This subordinate accepts the order," Feng Wu replied firmly.
Then Feng Xiyan turned to Bai Hanyun and handed her a small bamboo tube with a fuse attached to it.
Lowering his voice, he whispered, "Miss Bai, this is my signal flare. If you encounter danger, pull the fuse and hide. When I see it, I will come to you at once. If I’m not around, the shadow guards will come to you. Don’t be afraid, and wait for us."
Accepting the signal flare, Bai Hanyun nodded. "Understood. Thank you, Feng Xiyan."
Looking at her smile, Feng Xiyan raised his hand. Just before touching her cheek, he clenched it into a fist and lowered it again.
Staring into her eyes, he softly said, "Mhm. Then, I will take my leave first."
After lingering on her face for a few seconds, Feng Xiyan mounted his war horse in one smooth motion. With a light squeeze of his legs, the horse galloped toward the underground prison.
While Bai Hanyun watched him disappear into the distance, Gui Ying’s attention shifted to Feng Wu.
Under his gaze, Feng Wu felt a chill at the back of his neck. He quickly stepped in front of Bai Hanyun, shielding her from Gui Ying.
Seeing this, Gui Ying chuckled and lazily said, "Younger Brother, don’t be so nervous. This young master doesn’t eat human flesh."
Hearing that, Bai Hanyun turned to Gui Ying and rolled her eyes at him. "Don’t scare Feng Wu."
When he heard this, Gui Ying put on an aggrieved expression. "Fairy Bai, you are too biased."
