Chapter 558: Chapter 46: Krimasha Relics (7)
"You, wipe your blood into the ’Bloodline Slot’, just like you did earlier." Andrew said to Jones.
Jones didn’t move, just stood there blankly.
"You don’t still think I’m lying to you, do you? Didn’t I already demonstrate it once? Relax, until we get what we want, we’re on the same side." As Andrew spoke, he turned around and glanced at Jones.
Jones looked at Andrew and softly asked: "So...the Blood Clan were really humans once? All of them?"
"Are you still stuck on that question?" Andrew seemed a bit surprised.
"Isn’t that question important? If one day you suddenly discovered you were a Wood Elf, wouldn’t you feel it was strange?"
"Uh... I honestly wouldn’t find it strange at all." Andrew shrugged and said, "Does it matter whether I’m a Wood Elf or not? What’s important is I’m still Andrew An."
"Aside from the Blood Clan, are there any other remnants left behind?"
"That, I’m not sure about. Maybe there are, maybe there aren’t. But I do know the original remnants couldn’t have survived—they simply didn’t live that long. And if they became something else... the experiments most likely failed. It’s been ten thousand years, have you seen any forces resembling the Krimasha Remnants rise up?" Saying that, Andrew pointed at the ’Bloodline Slot’ again: "Hurry up, open it, stop wasting time. If you’re interested, I can tell you in detail what I know after we leave. Of course, that’s on the condition you drop any pursuit of accountability against me and hand over everything we find in here to me."
Jones hesitated, but ultimately stepped forward, bit open his finger again, and wiped the blood into the slot.
Very soon, just like before, the stone door began to slowly open amidst a sweeping wave of white light.
What unfolded before the group were countless piles of treasures.
Yes, treasures of gold and silver—various golden items, gold coins, gemstones, and jewelry scattered like rubbish, piled up carelessly everywhere.
Andrew looked around the room briefly, then raised the ignition stick in his hand near a nearby object resembling a fire basin.
The fire basin was lit, erupting like a mini explosion, with flames dancing around. In the next moment, countless other fire basins within the room automatically ignited.
The firelight illuminated the mountainous piles of gold, and the entire world was instantly bathed in a radiant golden glow.
It was a massive stone chamber, with dimensions over a hundred meters in length, width, and height. Twelve colossal columns, each requiring four people to encircle it, stood in symmetry. At the center was a pool, and within the middle of the pool lay a platform on which a large stone box resembling a sarcophagus rested. Nearby, on the steps, there was a skeleton dressed in torn mage robes quietly sprawled.
"Hmm... we verified one thing. During the Krimasha era, humans used gold coins as currency as well." Andrew said as he put away the ignition stick and stepped over the gold and silver beneath him, heading toward the central sarcophagus. "If there’s truly treasure in this relic, it must be here. Hahaha, now, let’s open it up."
Jones, Dora, and Turuk entered the stone chamber, but stayed near the edges. Only Andrew moved forward step by step, walking into the pool and wading through ankle-deep water to approach the sarcophagus.
At this moment, Andrew was so excited he seemed almost unable to contain himself. However, as he looked at the sarcophagus, he quickly noticed a problem—it was impossible for him, even as a Blood Elf and an Elf Mage, to lift the heavy lid of the sarcophagus.
"Hey, Jones, come help me open it."
"Aren’t you worried it might be dangerous?" Jones slowly walked toward Andrew, stepping through the shallow pool, but instead headed toward the skeleton nearby, staring at it intently.
"What are you looking at?" Andrew asked.
Jones didn’t answer but bent down, reaching out to pick up a pendant hanging around the skeleton’s neck.
"Lefebvre?" Jones glanced at Andrew and asked, "This pendant seems like it’s a magical artifact."
Andrew took a closer look and replied, "Yes, it resembles the one Gray took from me. But that’s not important, Jones. The real treasure is definitely inside here."
"What does Lefebvre mean?"
"Who knows? Maybe it’s a name or surname. Jones, hurry up, help me open this sarcophagus."
Jones hesitated, placed his hands on the crevice of the sarcophagus, and then pried it open. The lid was lifted aside immediately.
What emerged before Andrew was a corpse, long reduced to skeletal remains, clothed in a faded but originally blue mage robe. Surrounding it were several items that appeared to be burial goods.
"Uh... this really is just a coffin?" Andrew climbed inside completely and began searching through it meticulously.
The items he cleared out were: a scroll, a decayed and illegible letter, a seemingly intact wand, a ring engraved with complex runes, a badge inscribed with "Krimasha Mage Alliance", and a bracelet featuring magical runes.
Just like the skeleton outside, there was also a pendant engraved with "Lefebvre" inside.
Andrew held the items in his hands, widening his eyes and carefully examining them.
"The corpse inside is female, and the one outside is male. They both wear pendants marked ’Lefebvre.’ If ’Lefebvre’ is a surname, then the two of them must be husband and wife." Jones briefly remarked.
"Who cares about their relationship? That’s not important, right? What we care about is the knowledge from the Krimasha era." With that, Andrew rushed to the door, took a backpack from Turuk, and placed all the items from the sarcophagus, except for the corpse itself, inside it. He also included the skeleton’s possessions from outside. Then he slung the backpack over his shoulders.
