Chapter 560: Chapter 47: Krimasha Relics (8)
"Various signs indicate that the gods and demons are preparing to deal with us. Both factions... This is a very terrible piece of news. Humanity’s lifespan is too short to accumulate enough Magic Power, making us far more dependent on the gods and demons than any other race. Mr. Lefebvre says that if we face divine and demonic sanctions, we will instantly lose the magical civilization we so proudly built. The ’Human Improvement Plan,’ based on life creation and the extension of human lifespan, has been ongoing for thousands of years, but it has not yielded satisfactory results."
"The news has already reached Krimasha, but those foolish officials there seem as indifferent as ever. They claim that similar warnings have appeared countless times over thousands of years, and as long as we align ourselves with one faction, we can resolve everything. The enmity between the gods and demons is intrinsic. When we oppose the Holy Spirits, the Demon Lord inevitably shelters us. And when we stand against the Demon Lord, the Holy Spirits will align with us. Even if they have reached an accord, as long as we incite conflict between them, we can solve the issue."
"Mr. Lefebvre tried to mobilize all of Krimasha’s resources to prepare for the impending catastrophe, but his proposal was vetoed in the Mage Council. Overwhelmingly vetoed. My God, what is wrong with these top mages? Why don’t they believe Mr. Lefebvre?"
"Mr. Lefebvre decided to forcibly implement the still-unfinished Improvement Plan, directly applying it to human bodies before conducting thorough validation. His close friend Bartholomew volunteered to become the first test subject."
"Bartholomew’s condition is dire. He became manic, bloodthirsty. He even bit Adrian and Felix. Like an infectious disease, the two of them became just like him. The experiment failed. Mr. Lefebvre tried to restore them to their original states, but the experiment turned out to be irreversible."
The names of the three elders of the Blood Clan... are complete.
When Jones saw these names, his skin crawled. This meant Andrew was telling the truth. The Blood Clan truly originated from human evolution.
In Jones’ hands was a magical notebook. Upon opening it, phantom-like text would emerge, fragmented and intermittent. Due to its age, some of the text had dissolved into faint glimmers, rendering parts illegible.
Nonetheless, from the fragmented content alone, Jones could already discern its recorded information.
"We discovered some unique circumstances. How should I put this... It seems we might have inadvertently created a new species. Bartholomew—no, not just Bartholomew—even Adrian and Felix, whom he bit, possess magical perception far beyond that of any known human, although still inferior to Angels and demons. However, they can only survive on blood, and they exhibit extreme predilection for human blood... Moreover, they are highly averse to sunlight and holy rituals, both of which will scorch them. Additionally, their emotions are utterly unstable, morphing into selfishness and greed... How peculiar. All three of them were originally exceptionally kind people. Now their personalities seem completely transformed. Perhaps this is because we used certain elements from an outer dimension during the process. Truthfully, as experimenters, we ourselves barely understand those elements."
"Their emotional states appear to have settled down somewhat. They managed to convince Mr. Lefebvre to release them from the containment chambers for further research—I mean, research focused on their own conditions. Mr. Lefebvre agreed. Yet the outcome... the outcome was that they exploited the opportunity to bite four additional individuals... Mr. Lefebvre was compelled to confine the other four along with them."
"It seems we made some mistakes in our experiment. The current situation is entirely unforeseen. We have sacrificed seven individuals for this endeavor. Though they are not dead, the cost is equivalent to their loss."
"Research indicates their bodies show no signs of aging and are, in fact, growing increasingly youthful. Bartholomew is already sixty years old, yet he now appears to be merely in his early thirties. Perhaps... perhaps our experiment encountered a mishap, but at least regarding the matter of immortality, we’ve made a breakthrough."
"News of the incident involving the seven individuals has leaked. Krimasha’s Mage Council is convening to discuss punitive measures against Mr. Lefebvre for conducting unauthorized human experiments. He may face lifetime imprisonment. Regardless, the experiments must continue. Mr. Lefebvre was arrested, but before leaving, he instructed us to ensure the continuation of the research. Time is running out for me."
"Just received news—the seven mutants escaped en route to Krimasha. The escorts failed to heed our advice, underestimating the strength of those seven. Some among them were bitten on the spot and subsequently taken away."
"Krimasha’s Mage Council demands that we surrender all documentation related to the seven individuals, but we refused. We’ve sealed off the entire sanctuary, keeping them fully barred outside. We cannot surrender their documents, as doing so would simultaneously expose the results of the Improvement Plan. Rumors suggest there are traitors within the Mage Council who might leak our data to Heaven and Hell."
