Chapter 611: Chapter 315: In Her Eyes, Evie Larkin Is Someone Who Would Stab You in the Back (3rd Update)
Evie Larkin didn’t stay outside for too long, and came back at dinner time.
As soon as she entered, a servant went to greet her.
Jane Quinlan was sitting in the living room chatting with Kay Forrest and old Mr. Forrest.
Each person reacted differently upon seeing Evie Larkin.
Kay Forrest didn’t pay any attention and kept cracking sunflower seeds, throwing the shells into a small trash bin.
Jane Quinlan looked at her and nodded with a smile. Regardless of anything, in front of old Mr. Forrest, certain manners had to be maintained; she couldn’t just make things difficult for him like Kay Forrest did.
Nolan Moore’s worry seemed to have relaxed a bit, as he had been constantly checking his watch since earlier, apparently concerned about her.
Only old Mr. Forrest asked, "Evie is back, huh?"
"Mm, old Mr. Forrest, I’m back," she said with a smile as she walked over to the sofa.
In her hands, she carried a gift box and approached Jane Quinlan, handing the box over to her.
"Miss Quinlan, I guess you haven’t had the chance to buy this.
I just went to a maternity store and bought this; see if it fits you."
Jane Quinlan was surprised for a moment, not expecting that she had gone out to buy something for her?
She stood up to take the box and opened it to take a look.
Seeing a radiation protection suit inside, she looked at Evie Larkin with gratitude.
"Oh my, Miss Larkin, thank you so much.
I was planning to buy it before returning to work.
You’re so considerate, thank you."
Evie Larkin shyly smiled with pursed lips: "You’re welcome.
I didn’t have much to do this afternoon, so I went out for a bit.
I didn’t expect it to be so lively outside today."
"Today is the first day of the lunar new year, maternity stores should not have opened.
I also planned to buy one, but then I thought I wouldn’t be going to work for a few days, so I wasn’t in a hurry."
"Mm, the shops around me were closed, so I looked around other places and found one for sale."
Jane Quinlan tried on the radiation protection suit, then turned to Kay Forrest: "How do I look, more like a pregnant woman now?"
"Not bad."
Evie Larkin took a deep breath: "Mm, you guys sit, I’ll go to the kitchen to see if there’s anything I can help with."
Grayson Forrest said, "Evie, don’t bother helping out, come and sit with us for a while instead."
Evie Larkin looked at Grayson Forrest and smiled faintly.
She truly intended to sit down, but upon seeing Kay Forrest’s expression, she withheld her step.
"I’d rather go to the kitchen, I feel more at ease there."
Nolan Moore looked puzzled as he watched Evie Larkin’s figure heading to the kitchen.
Had she already adjusted her emotions, or was she harboring some other thoughts?
Only today did he realize that he truly didn’t understand this friend he grew up with as much as he thought.
After Evie Larkin went into the kitchen, Jane Quinlan stood up and headed that way as well.
Kay Forrest grabbed her hand: "Where are you going?"
"I’m also going to the kitchen to take a look."
"There are so many people in the kitchen already, with two more it will be too crowded.
Sit nicely here.
Don’t you know you’re pregnant? You should avoid inhaling fumes from cooking oil."
Jane Quinlan smiled speechlessly: "Do you plan to make your child start off not eating worldly food from inside the womb? It’s not that exaggerated."
"In any case, I just don’t want you going," Kay Forrest pulled her beside him wilfully, his hand wrapping around her waist.
Grayson Forrest also waved his hand: "Jane, it’s better to avoid the kitchen in the future. Just listen to Forrest on this."
Jane Quinlan nodded. She wouldn’t go then.
Now, she felt somewhat nauseous smelling that odor.
"By the way, you two should move back here.
Living here, there are many servants at home, and they can take care of you.
If you live alone, Jane, you’ll have to cook every day.
I’m not at ease with that."
Kay Forrest immediately gestured with his hand: "I’m not going to move back in."
Grayson Forrest’s face darkened: "Am I going to eat you or what?"
"At my size, you can’t eat me in one bite, but a few bites today and a few bites tomorrow will do it, right?"
Hearing what Kay Forrest said, Grayson Forrest glared at him.
"You, it’s the New Year, can’t you say something more auspicious?
People who don’t know would think your father is a tiger, leopard, or wolf."
Kay Forrest chuckled: "Dad, I’m not coming back also for the sake of our father-son relationship.
I understand you, and you understand me; if we live together, we’re bound to quarrel.
It would be awkward for Jane to be stuck between us.
Now with Jane carrying a child, you wouldn’t want her to suffer because of us father and son, would you?
We’re fine living outside, free and comfortable.
If you miss us, just call, and we can be back in half an hour."
