Chapter 991: Chapter 991: Massive Invasion and Taking Matters Into Their Own Hands
What is the strategic value of a Prophet?
For two Empires with considerable military forces, a Prophet is more intimidating than any size of army under any circumstances, even if this Prophet has no combat capability.
With Lin Xue’s presence, it means the enemy is almost incapable of launching any large-scale surprise attack on the Empire, as such attempts would be passively detected by her. It means that our military operations have a success rate of over ninety-nine percent, because Lin Xue can know in advance how each step of the operation must be executed to lead to success, allowing us to avoid almost all threats along the development path. Sometimes, a Prophet on the battlefield can amplify a trivial butterfly effect, triggering disastrous chain reactions for the enemy: Lin Xue once accomplished this, using just Big Sister’s Disaster Beacon to expose a third of an enemy Group Army under our Main Cannon’s range, for a duration of ten minutes, a feat that would have incurred astronomic losses if accomplished using Regular Army forces.
Of course, the Fallen Apostle is aware of the existence of such a strategic-level unit in the New Empire. Lin Xue has disrupted countless military operations of theirs, and since Miss always likes to follow me onto the battlefield, the threat she poses in combat is equally significant. The greatest difference between a battle commanded by a Prophet and one commanded by an officer is that the latter relies on experience and knowledge to control the battle, but all efforts the latter makes will ultimately be effortlessly utilized by the former—if I were the Fallen Apostle, I would surely be maddened with hatred for this Prophet long ago.
Thus they created something specifically to counter Lin Xue, something larger than an Eternal Level, looking ugly like a lump of shi, and radar shows it releasing Ghost Energy Well-level energy shocks continually, broadcasting chaotic information on all channels. The entire Universe is now filled with this noise broadcast, and Miss, located within this Universe environment, is severely interfered with.
Lin Xue gritted her teeth, wishing to smash that lump causing her headache immediately, but several direct assaults have failed. The Fallen Apostle clearly understands how critical such a device, capable of suppressing Prophet power, is, and protect it tightly.
Actually, it’s not the first time Lin Xue’s power has been interfered with. When she first awakened, her abilities were severely limited, unable to predict too unfamiliar things, lacking passive mode, and a strong energy reaction in prediction targets rendered her sight unclear. Back then, she was often interfered with by things that now seem very insignificant; however, as she gradually mastered her new powers, interference with her Prophet powers occurred less and less frequently. But unexpectedly, the Fallen Apostle suddenly crafted this device causing unprecedented interference with her powers. The operational principle of the special warship has been basically identified, appearing primitive, relying on powerful Ghost Energy radiation to fill the Universe, and broadcasting intense noise. When energy intensity reaches a certain level, quantitative change can cause qualitative change. Even Einstein didn’t conceive relativity in a marketplace; Lin Xue now faces a similar situation—worsened by her sharp senses.
"It may only work within one Universe," I looked concernedly at Lin Xue after her failed assault, "Can’t possibly broadcast to other worlds. Why don’t you retreat first?"
Miss glared angrily at that lump of dung, "The Fallen Apostle certainly hopes so. They can’t wait for me to leave the battlefield."
I thought to myself, anyone could foresee that, but what’s the use of holding out here?
At that moment, we suddenly received communication from Earth; it was Xiao Xue, left at home, calling.
"Dad! Mom! What’s happening over there? I saw something!"
I was shocked: "What’s wrong? There’s strong interference here, Lin Xue can’t see anything."
"Interference? An Interference Transmitter? They really built it?" exclaimed Xiao Xue, "Fortunately, I’m unaffected here; perhaps they still don’t know that the ’Void Creatures’ that escaped from their own lab have predictive abilities too. The enemy has divided forces into many routes; the attack on that world is just a ruse! BDE-1325, AC-67, TEA-6, and NF-15 are about to be attacked, but only one is the real target. I can’t tell which one; it’s too messy. Each fleet may carry an Interference Transmitter; I can only see which world will be attacked but can’t identify what they will actually do in those worlds!"
The communication ended, Sandora furrowed her brows tightly: "Something’s not right, not right, Ah Jun, what do you think?"
"They’re going big; how did they manage so many troops!?" I was more concerned about the scale of the enemy’s deployment; attacking five worlds simultaneously? And the first to attack is the heavily guarded XF-35-A—merely as a distraction—they simply don’t care about losses!
"This is the United Fleet, Roland Gale Corps!" a call suddenly came through the communicator, "We broke through the enemy’s flank, completed our attack mission ahead of schedule, and are retreating."
"United Fleet? Broke through the enemy’s flank ahead of schedule?" I nearly leaned onto the communicator, "The enemy is made of paper?"
"It’s a mirror," the bearded captain on the communicator looked puzzled too, "Their frontline fleet and the escort fleet with that Interference Transmitter are real units; the flank and rear units are all mirrors!"
The commander from another fleet also joined the communication; it was an Imperial Captain: "Your Majesty, we penetrated the rear unit and found some special spaceships. The ships have Crystal Amplifiers onboard, but there’s no life reaction inside—unmanned Mirror Generation equipment."
Soon, this commander transmitted what he observed, and the projector displayed a dark, diamond-shaped flying device of unknown size, its surface covered with Crystal Clusters, and behind the flying device, three elongated Crystal Slabs at 120-degree angles were slowly rotating, producing a light screen from which mirror units were continuously projected.
They blended into the physical fleet, indistinguishable from real units.
"They finally replicated the power of the Leader Bee," Sandora pressed the table, "That’s a Mirror Generation Ship, an advanced spaceship from the Old Empire. It can manufacture pure information-based mirror units like the Leader Bee, with rapid replication speed. But, due to lacking the Leader Bee’s Ocanic Soul, these mirror units are even more fragile compared to those produced by the Leader Bee—deceived... The actual forces attacking this world are not as large as they appear. They’re merely inserting that Interference Transmitter into the Universe to blind the Prophet’s eyes."
I carefully glanced at Miss: "Because they deduced the pattern, our Prophet here has an eighty percent chance of appearing personally on the battlefield. The Interference Transmitter is meant to thwart that."
Lin Xue suddenly burst into rage, pounding the table hard: "Damn it... it hurts."
I helped Lin Xue massage her paw: "How’s the defense of the four worlds Xiao Xue mentioned?"
"Some are strong, some are weak," Sandora had already opened other operational maps, marked target world command chain links online, "I’ve elevated the reserve units from the Capital, except for the Sixth Fleet still recovering, the Second to Fifth Fleets are heading to those four Universes. The defense armies of these four Universes consist only partially of Imperial Army, the rest are Servant Army. I fear they may not withstand the attacks."
"They must withstand," Visca suddenly appeared on the bridge, covered in the scent of gunpowder; the little girl’s head was emitting white vapor, clearly cooling modules working at full capacity: she had just returned from the battlefield, "The idiot sister is force attacking that Interference Transmitter, but those fellows’ ships are as tough as Sicaro’s face! Aside from Mother Ships, it’s all Fortress Ships, impossible to breach. This unit isn’t meant for an assault; it’s more like gathering upon arrival just to disgust."
"You’re right, they’re just here to disgust." Hila suddenly whistled, extraordinarily loud, "Ha, I heard about your Xyrin Empire from Xingchen before. I heard it was originally a Mortal Race, but it’s incomprehensibly strong, almost on par with the Divine Race. Now seeing – indeed impressive; true divine-killer power fills the battlefield, a sight I’ve only witnessed on Divine Race battlegrounds. Slightly intrigued."
The Father God strolled over with a faint smile: "Their actions are suspicious. I suggest you support other places—what Xiao Xue saw must be something the enemy didn’t want Lin Xue to see, making one of those four worlds extremely hazardous. As for here, if you don’t mind, I and Hila will hold the line."
Unfortunately, all enemy squads are outfitted with Interference Transmitters; even though Xiao Xue isn’t interfered, she can only determine in which world the enemy will appear, not what they will do upon arrival.
Sandora showed no emotion on her face but maintained silence, evidently weighing Father God’s suggestion, as entrusting national defense to outsiders isn’t a commendable act for an Imperial Leader, although the Star Domain Divine Race is an ally of the Empire. Not being an inflexible person, she nodded after pondering: "It appears there’s no better solution. Though... King Huron has endured a long journey..."
"It’s quite a hassle drifting all the way here from the other side of the Void, my combat power is surely not much by now," Hila waved her hand dismissively, "But anyway, I can’t die, I’ll disgust them first, and then Xingchen will stab them in the back. We were quite the golden duo back then."
I looked at Father God with a meaningful expression: What exactly did this pair do back in the day?
"Ahem, Hila, you better not be too careless," Father God coughed awkwardly, "You don’t understand the power of the Xyrin Apostles, don’t really think they’re mortals. You’re not much stronger than the High Order Divine Race now, the salvos from that scale of naval guns can take down a True God in an instant, you’d make a fool of yourself if you’re really shot back into the Void."
King Huron waved her hands confidently, and at the same time, some deep purple stripes suddenly covered her body from top to bottom. I didn’t even have time to see what those were, she’d already changed appearance.
Her skin turned a faint purple, straight lines with a blue-purple radiant glow extended to her face. Her long purple ponytail had already loosened, floating gently as if losing gravity. Hila closed her eyes, and when she slowly opened them again, a dazzling light shot out in an instant, then instantly withdrew back into her pupils. Her eyes had mutated, transforming into two pools of flowing white light. At that moment, a phrase echoed in my mind: Titanium alloy dog eyes?
The transformation gave this female Divine King distinct non-human traits, yet the exotic skin and patterns didn’t appear grotesque, but rather carried an eerie allure—mystic and elegant like the demon runes of the Dark Night Elves.
"Void Form, feels good," Hila spoke, echoing the favorite mode that every mighty character enjoys after a transformation. Her voice carried a heavy metal oscillation with a three-element composite effect. In fact, I’d always thought those Demon Kings using speakers in their helmets were a little off until I realized my voice sounded the same, it’s not about showing off at all, "Ah, really unsightly. Actually, I’m quite envious of Xingchen. Even though there’s no distinctive feature after entering the Void Form, at least she doesn’t have to be checkered all over like me—by the way, Chen, what does your Void Form look like?"
Hearing this, I instinctively tried to walk away, but it was too late. At this critical moment of roaring battles, King Huron stubbornly dragged me to transform right there! Her reason was that transforming before battle is essential for Void Creatures, ensuring subsequent events unfold favorably due to information interference effects—but I felt she just wanted to see the spectacle.
Though she might be right, since even Father God nodded beside her. I thought about it, and my duration post-transformation had become long enough that I might as well prepare as Hila suggested. So, I focused and switched to my Void Form.
Hila was immediately shocked: "Hey, where’s your face?!"
See, I knew it...
"There’s also a Second Form." I scratched my head awkwardly—imagining my hair, then compressed my Void Domain, suppressing my form into the genie shape of the Aladdin Lamp God. Hila was once again shocked: "Hey, why do you look like a cone?"
I: "..."
"Two forms?" Father God seemed very serious, "You even have a Second Form, I haven’t heard of this before. Do you have some special trait?"
Hila slapped Father God: "What’s special? In our whole Race, there are only three of us, how many patterns could you summarize! You transform without a stir, I transform with a body full of checks, why can’t Chen transform into a paper cut and a cone too?"
I: "..."
It was my first time discovering that this Queen had such superb summarization skills!
With Father God and King Huron joining the battle personally, perhaps I no longer need to worry about the situation in this world. Even as Hila confessed, her power was temporarily weakened after crossing the Endless Void, but Father God’s power was still at its peak. I didn’t know how much stronger a matured Void Creature like Father God was compared to myself, but visually, I probably couldn’t beat him—even five or six piled together couldn’t either.
A whole Group Army of Fallen Apostles piling up would certainly still be futile.
This pair of inseparable frenemies bickering (mainly Hila doing the bickering, Father God just chuckling) left the bridge. The next moment they were already at the forefront of the battle line, two figures standing against a battlefield spanning millions of kilometers. They looked like two inconspicuous grains of sand, yet soon, the Fallen Apostles would know they would be crushed by these grains of sand.
Intense firepower passed through Father God and King Huron as if they weren’t there.
In the Void Form, they were immune to any damage from lower-level derivative creations, even Ghost Energy. It’s like how a boss in a computer screen can’t harm the player behind the screen, Void Creatures don’t have to care at all about any kind of attack within the world. This is an unreasonable level gap, maybe a Conqueror or a War Song with Law Weapon can employ Void forces to fight Father God, but these conventional warships are evidently useless.
I couldn’t tell how they were fighting, but an Assault Ship close to Hila suddenly turned into spreading dust. There was simply no intermediate process, not even the radar detected any form of energy reaction. It was as if the warship got reduced to single-molecule mist. On the other hand, the enemy ships in front of Father God disappeared piece by piece, not sent to Other Space, nor thrown into the Void, they seemed deleted instead. But here’s the problem—the scanner didn’t detect any force fluctuation around Father God and King Huron!
These two veteran Void Creatures didn’t employ any attack means, they simply stood there, and lots of Fallen Apostles just vanished around them in a "phenomenon"!
It’s like they were using cheat codes to fight, could you guys at least use some power that normal people can comprehend! These inexplicable mystical phenomena would drive Taville insane...
The Fallen Apostles quickly noticed the anomalies on the battlefield, and many warships started closing in on Father God and King Huron, but this only accelerated the demise of those ships. Around Father God and King Huron, within a 200,000-kilometer radius sphere, a bizarre "phenomenon" belt formed. Any hostile targets entering this zone just vaporized into thin air—without any attack!
But only those medium and small-sized warships got dispatched so lightly. When the Eternal-class Mother Ship fully deployed its shield and pointed its main cannon at the two, their terrifying power finally paused. Those enormous starships only shuddered slightly before stabilizing again, then there was a temporary deadlock—apparently, the insanely developed weapons of the Empire weren’t completely useless against Father God either, it seemed, because I too never considered myself invincible...
"It’s my first time seeing Father God take action...my life is complete," Monina returned beside me, looking awed, in the midst of the battle, "Father God wants the five of us to go support other areas with you."
"Chen, it might take us some time," Father God said, "We will try to pull them into the Void to deal with them. Don’t worry, it’s not dangerous, they are just some thick-skinned fellows, and it’s nothing to you guys back in the day..."
Sandora watched Lin Xue, already back to normal, and sighed, "Lin Xue, the fleet is setting off, target..."
"The fleet is setting off, target..." Sandora glanced at Lin Xue, who had already returned to normal, and suddenly sighed, "Lin Xue, your support is what gives me the greatest motivation."
