Chapter 178: Take the fight to the next level!

Chapter 177

"Ohh my opponent, you have been deceived." Drey was seen smirking even after the sickle was an inch away from his neck.

"Huh?" The demon muttered, and then, in a flash, the sickle was grabbed and halted as it hit Drey’s neck. But it didn’t draw blood because a hand held it tight.

’What is this? His han... I know he can’t move that fast...’ the demon’s thoughts trailed off as it turned around to see someone else holding the sickle. His palm was cut from gripping it tightly, blood dripping down from the deep wound.

The person was Max, his breath ragged as he huffed and panted. His earlier sliced-up arm had now regenerated completely, and he had thrown himself into danger again, pushing his body to its limit just to save the S rank— even though no one was sure if the hunter actually needed saving.

"You? Ho... how did you regenerate your arm so quickly? And how the hell can you still stand up?" the demon asked in frustration.

Tring!

[HP: 50/100]

Max didn’t care as he waved the screen away. He had been receiving brutal hits and blows from the demon for a while now, so his HP had dropped drastically. Still, that didn’t seem to bother him one bit.

"I’m a dragon. Why else are you shocked about how I regenerated?" Max asked with a small smirk curling his lips.

"And about how I can still stand? Well, that’s for me to know and for you to find out... in hell!" The dragon roared as he swung his second fist straight into the demon’s abdomen with all the strength he had. But even that couldn’t push the demon away.

"I guess I’ll just have to beat you till you can’t even stand anymore!" the demon shouted as it swung its second sickle toward the dragon’s face.

A loud clang rang out as Drey quickly blocked using his sword. Sparks flew, and the ground beneath them cracked from the force.

"I don’t know why you felt like I needed your help, but you need to leave this to me and stop distracting me," Drey growled slightly, his eyes fixed on the demon’s every move.

"Screw you both!" The demon thundered as it bolted forward with immense speed, slamming into Drey and sending the S rank skidding back while it darted toward Max.

It was upon the dragon in a flash, claws slicing through the air toward his neck— too fast for Max to react. But before the attack could connect, Drey grabbed Max’s collar, yanking him backward just in time. The claw strike missed by inches, cutting through the air instead.

The demon hurled its sickle toward Drey, forcing the hunter to block with his sword before trying to swat it away. Suddenly, the chain appeared again, snaking through the air before twisting around and shooting toward Max instead.

Clang!

Max’s claws shot up, barely managing to deflect the sickle, sparks bursting from the collision. Drey wasted no time and bolted forward, appearing right in front of the demon with a powerful thrust of his sword. But the being quickly kicked the ground and shot into the air, dodging the strike as it landed behind the hunter.

Before Drey could even turn, the demon spun and swung its foot forward with terrifying speed. The kick smashed into Drey’s back with such power that it lifted his body off the ground and hurled him several meters away.

"Why you!" Max roared furiously as he blitzed toward the demon, his claws gleaming dangerously.

But before he could reach it, the demon spun and drove a heavy punch straight into his gut, lifting him off his feet and sending his body crashing into the street.

Groaning in pain, Max tried to stand, but before he could regain his footing, the demon was already there— just a meter away.

Then, with a deep snarl, Max spread his hands wide as energy condensed around his palms, glowing with violent intensity.

[Draconic Force Palm Activated]

CLAP!

KA-BOOOM!

A thunderous shockwave split through the air as a massive gust of wind slammed into the demon with immense force. Still, the creature stabbed its feet into the ground, refusing to be lifted off. It crossed its arms in front of its face, absorbing the impact of the shockwave as dust and debris swirled wildly around.

"I told you all, I have the power to be an Upper Echelon Six, and you think you can best me?!" the demon roared as it darted toward the dragon at full speed.

Before it could reach its target, a glowing sword cut through its path, swung in a deadly arc toward its head.

Quickly, the demon brought its chained sickles up, clashing against the sword with a violent impact that shook the air and earth alike. The ground shuddered as deep cracks spidered outward in all directions.

Drey stood behind the sword, teeth grinding back and forth as his arms trembled slightly from the impact.

"I won’t let you touch a single hair on his body! Because of the dragons, we were able to repel aberrants like you! And with the gift of their bodies that they gave to us, we still have the power to defend ourselves!" Drey shouted. His voice was fierce, his eyes blazing with conviction.

"Their bodies were respectfully turned into weapons, one of which I wield right now. And you think I’ll let you touch him? Never!" he roared. For the first time since the battle began, he looked genuinely angry—furious even.

"And don’t you understand?" the demon growled as it leaped a meter back. "It’s because of his aura that the seal which trapped us weakened! Now I’m here! You still want to protect him?"

"The master asked us to protect him. I know some of us would not agree, but I promised to follow the master’s orders to the letter. That includes eliminating those who threaten this world," Drey said firmly as he pointed his sword toward the demon.

The demon’s lips curved into an amused smile. "And you think it will end when you kill me? You think this will be the end?"

"No, it won’t," Drey replied with a calm, cold tone. "But I’ll be at ease knowing I managed to add a demon’s life to my collection."

"Then come on, my friend," the demon said as it took a stance, feet one meter apart. "Let’s take this fight to the next level."

"Alright. Here comes the full power and speed of an S-rank hunter," Drey declared.

Instantly, the ground began rumbling loudly, almost like an earthquake was about to erupt. The air grew dense, charged with power and killing intent as both sides stared each other down—hunter and demon, ready to clash once again.

Hey everyone! I know that I added a new privilege tier and with this, I might be expected to increase my Chapter update rate but I’m so sorry, we are going to be stuck at 2 Chapters per day for now while I get things together in school. I’m so sorry and that’s why I’m mass releasing ten Chapters as a form of apology.

I hope it is accepted 🥲
