Chapter 77. A Corpse

Chapter 77: 77. A Corpse

It was early morning. Around five in the morning. It was too early even for Riki, who was used to waking up early.

Riki was standing on the beach behind the mansion.

Even though it was only five in the morning, the sky was already quite bright, even though the sun had not yet fully risen.

Riki just stood there, wearing black pants and a gray hoodie. Because the air was very cold, coupled with the strong wind that morning, Riki covered his head with a hood. Both of his hands were in the pockets of his hoodie.

Riki himself didn’t know why he had woken up so early. Therefore, he chose to stand quietly in front of the beach, watching the small waves roll in.

The mansion was located near the southern beach with small waves. This was in contrast to the northern area, which had large waves that people usually used for surfing.

[Are you ready to accept a new mission?]

Riki nodded, "Sure, because I’m bored."

"You’re bored, master?"

Riki turned his head, still not used to the figure of Twaila, the fairy who had transformed into a more solid body.

The fairy was about 170 cm tall, weighing around 55 kg. She had a small waist and a fairly large chest. Her body looked ideal, but also unreal at the same time. With those long legs, she resembled a Barbie doll.

The fairy, with her slightly pinkish white skin, looked radiant that morning. She had long, wavy black hair.

It was very unreal.

But Riki could still understand the unreal figure, because she was indeed a fairy, not an ordinary human being.

"I’m not bored, actually. More accurately, I don’t know what to do, even though I know I have a lot of work to do," said Riki.

"I am your assistant, so I am here to help you. If you have specific tasks, I can handle them for you. Because my mind is connected to yours, and I also have a lot of knowledge about this modern world. I also have some powers that you can rely on," said Twaila, taking Riki’s hands and smiling at him.

Riki hated how easily he was charmed. But he was just an ordinary human being and an ordinary man. Of course he would be easily charmed by such a super beautiful figure.

"So, what can you do for me? I mean, what kind of work can you do?" asked Riki.

"Many! I can do office work, I can also do your college assignments, I can cook, clean the mansion, take care of the garden, and more. Because my mind is connected to yours, when I do office work or college assignments, you can also feel it, as if you were doing it yourself. Our minds can be connected, or not, you can control it as you wish,"

Riki’s eyes widened in amazement at what the fairy could do for him. It was incredible!

The fairy was truly a real assistant.

"Then, Twaila, can you use my skills too? For example, cooking with my skills and my knowledge?" asked Riki.

Twaila nodded, and as she did so, her thick hair moved along with her head. It was very adorable.

"Of course, master!"

"Connect our minds, and cook breakfast for me and everyone else. If anyone asks, just say you’re my new assistant, okay?"

Twaila nodded again, "Sure thing, master! I’ll go now—"

"Wait! Change into regular clothes, don’t wear a pretty dress like this."

Twaila changed her clothes in an instant, into more casual clothes. It’s just a plain white T-shirt and pink shorts.

"Hmm, okay, you can cook now."

Twaila left cheerfully. She was like a child, walking while jumping here and there.

It was so cute that Riki was worried about showing her to all the humans on earth. He felt reluctant.

[Ahem!]

[Have you forgotten about me?]

Riki chuckled, "Of course not, I’ll do the mission now while Twaila cooks breakfast."

[All right, your first mission today is to find a corpse—]

"Wait a minute! Why have my missions been like this lately? Can’t you give me a normal mission?" Riki protested.

He knew that as his level increased, his missions would inevitably become more difficult. However, he didn’t expect his missions to always be related to death. If he didn’t prevent people from dying, he would get missions to find dead people.

[You are now at the gold level, so of course your missions will be more difficult and unpleasant]

[But don’t worry, because the rewards will make you happy!]

[Will you do this mission?]

Riki rubbed his face roughly, but then he nodded in agreement.

"Alright, I’ll do the mission."

[Good, master]

[Your mission is to find the body of a celebrity who was killed by a mafia gang on the orders of someone influential]

[Your task is only to find the body and contact the authorities]

Riki fell silent. He didn’t expect the body to be connected to someone from the upper class. It would definitely be very difficult to find the perpetrator.

"Can I contact the detective too?"

[Go ahead, master]

[The body is around here. It was thrown into the middle of the sea, but the waves carried it to the shore.]

The system screen changed to a map. The location of the body was marked in red, while Riki’s position was marked in blue.

"Okay, I’ll go there first."

Riki walked quickly toward the location indicated on the system map.

While walking, he called Leon. The location of the body was quite close to Riki.

It took quite a while for Leon to answer the phone.

By the time the phone was answered, Riki was already near the location of the body.

("What’s up, Riki? Why are you calling me at this time of night?") Leon asked in a hoarse voice.

"It’s not nighttime, it’s morning, half past five in the morning."

("Hmm? Then why are you calling me this early?")

"I found the body of a celebrity, and I’m confused about what to do. What if the person who killed her was a gangster hired by someone influential?" asked Riki.

Leon didn’t answer for a while, until Riki called his name twice, and Leon finally responded.

("Wait a minute, Riki... are you sure it’s the body of a celebrity? Because there is a missing celebrity, and I’ve been asked to find her.")

"I’ll hang up and send you a picture of the body."

("Okay")

Riki hung up the phone, then took a picture of the body he found. After that, he sent it to Leon. Riki also asked if he could call the authorities. After Leon said yes, he called the authorities.

Not long after, Leon and the police arrived. Leon was shocked because the body was indeed that of the celebrity who had been missing for a week.

No wonder he couldn’t find her.

After Leon and the police thanked Riki, Riki said goodbye and returned to his mansion.

[You have completed your first mission today]

[Your reward is +5 to all stats and 2 gold gacha tickets]

[You have earned 3 points]

"Why didn’t I feel nauseous seeing that body?" Riki muttered.

[That’s because your power is over 50]

[That power is not only physical, but also mental and other aspects]

[Therefore, you can tolerate seeing things that would make ordinary humans feel nauseous]

Riki nodded in understanding. It made sense why Riki felt normal seeing a corpse that was no longer in its original form. Even though the face was still recognizable.

When he returned to the mansion, he was surprised to see the people inside getting very excited about Twaila finishing her cooking.

"Master! You’re back?" Twaila asked.

Then Selene approached Twaila and struck a pose. Twaila followed her, and Sean took a photo of the two of them.

"Now it’s my turn!" Evan and Kaivan shouted simultaneously.

"No, I went first!" Liz protested.

"Hurry up, Liz, my arms are getting tired," Sean replied.

Their strange behavior made Riki even more confused.

Did they think Twaila was a celebrity or an idol?

"Wait a minute, why are you taking pictures with my assistant?" asked Riki.

"It’s not every day that an angel fall from heaven, Riki! So we asked for a photo!" replied Evan, excitedly.

Riki looked back at Twaila.

It turned out that Riki wasn’t the only one who thought Twaila was unrel. But what could he do? She was a fairy.

"Don’t disturb her cooking! You can take pictures after we eat breakfast!" Riki shouted, annoyed by the commotion.

"Just a minute, Riki, please?" Liz pleaded.

Riki smiled gently at her, "Oh, if it’s you, of course you can. You can ask Twaila for as many pictures as you want."

"I know you’re biased," Selene interjected.

"I already bought you a car, but is that still not enough?" Riki replied.

"I love the car, Riki! I’ll work hard to get my driver’s license!" Sofie chimed in.

"I can’t drive yet," Selene complained.

"I can’t either, we’ll learn together," Liz said.

"You can learn with me too, Selene!" Kaivan replied.

Riki felt like want to kicking everyone out, except Liz, Sean, Deva, and Travis. Because only those four weren’t noisy.

"Riki!! Did you just find a dead body on the beach?" Zeno suddenly arrived excitedly, showing a live broadcast from a local television station on his smartphone.

"What do you mean, a corpse?" asked Travis.

Zeno looked at him and nodded, "Yes, do you know a celebrity named Ivana?"

Deva and Travis were shocked to hear this.

"You said Ivana?"
