【Skill Upgrade: Puji Creation LV7 → LV8】
【Skill Upgrade: Mental Integration LV6 → LV7】
【Skill Upgrade: Corrosion Resistance LV6 → LV7】
!!!
Finally, good days again!
【Puji Creation】—let’s put this aside. The upgrade only increases production speed, not base stats. So, kind of underwhelming.
At LV8, ignoring mana cost, Lin Jun could now churn out one standard turret Puji every minute.
Corrosion Resistance was the fruit of endless torture-training inside the sixth slime chamber.
But the real gem—Mental Integration!
This was the core of Lin Jun’s entire system. Before, at LV6, his control over Puji through the fungal network capped out at about 1,500.
And that didn’t even count 【Vassal Control】 scouts, which alone ate up the focus equivalent of 100 Puji.
He could extend numbers by setting up lower-node creatures like treants, but the grand total never broke 2,000.
Now though…
He felt it—his mental capacity had nearly doubled!
The upcoming battle with the Thousand-Spindle Mayflies suddenly seemed much more achievable.
As he basked in the joy of power, happily planning ahead—
“Hic~”
One third of the fifth-layer mushroom forest blinked out of his senses.
Huh!?
What the hell!?
Did a rift tear open on the fifth layer!?
Within a second, Lin Jun found the culprit.
Sitting on the ground, dumbstruck, clutching a half-eaten ice-cream Puji—Gray!
A cone-shaped disaster zone radiated out from in front of her. Smoke curled from her open mouth.
If she had a neck, Lin Jun would have twisted it 90 degrees in disbelief.
The forest wasn’t simply erased—the fading smoke revealed collapsed, corroded mushroom trees.
But the fungal carpet? That was gone completely.
【Name: Gray】
【Level: 60】
【Skill: Acid Breath LV1】
…Wait. She reached level 60 just by eating and sleeping?
Did scarfing down that ice-cream Puji happen to give her just enough EXP?
And what the hell was this skill!?
【Acid Breath】 at LV1 just wiped out a third of the mushroom forest. Lin Jun’s own 【Strong Acid LV5】, earned from grinding slimes forever, couldn’t compare.
At LV6, would she wipe out the entire fifth layer in one blast?
So this was the gap between species.
A slime could train its whole life and still not match a dragonkin’s random awakening skill at LV1.
Lin Jun sighed at the world’s unfairness, then rushed to save the victims of this disaster.
Two Puji dragged Norris out from the blast edge—shaken but unhurt.
They also fished up the yellow-bound book, shrieking and cursing Norris for his shaky hands as it got scorched.
Above, bat Puji swooped in to hoist up poor Louisa, the vampire who’d been resting peacefully in the forest when calamity struck.
Thankfully, her innate resistance spared her from instant death. Still, as a level 50, getting floored by a stray LV1 breath was humiliating.
Emergency aid: a freshly-killed stonehide boar, drained down in gulps. Color returned to her face, rotten skin knitting slowly back together.
Louisa said nothing. Dared say nothing. She just grabbed her pickaxe and slunk back to her cave.
Finally, Puji dragged still-dazed Gray to the mushroom forest’s underground cell.
It wasn’t holding prisoners now, but after expansion it was much bigger than when Louisa had lived there.
Best to put her away before she belched again and erased the remaining two-thirds of the forest.
The silly dragon had no idea what had just happened—only that she’d caused trouble. She sat obediently, surrounded by Puji poking at her.
One pried open her mouth, checking where the smoke came from. Another stomped her belly to see if they could force another breath.
Lin Jun even tried sending fungal threads down her throat, until she bit them off in discomfort.
At last, when one Puji stomped her chest-throat junction—
“Hic~”
A puff of smoke knocked out two Puji. The rest scattered until the fumes faded.
After half a day of trials, Lin Jun finally understood.
It was a charge-type skill!
Somewhere between her throat and chest was a storage organ, holding the breath in liquid form.
Full charge: one blast erasing a third of the mushroom forest.
Partial charge: like secondhand smoke, pathetic.
The real problem? Once full, Gray couldn’t hold it in…
The earlier disaster was literally her hiccupping.
She probably leveled up a day or two ago. Lin Jun never checked her panel, and she was too dense to notice.
So he forced her to practice intentional breathing.
And he made her promise—go to the venom lake daily and blast into it. Miraji didn’t mind corrosion anyway.
Training her into the habit would take time…
Sigh—
Gray getting stronger should be a blessing. Why did it feel like a curse?
What was a dragonkin’s level cap anyway?
Werewolves and vampires capped at 90. Dragonkin should be the same, at least 80. She still had a long way to go.
But the loss was devastating. Many unborn Puji were annihilated mid-incubation.
Replanting the mushroom forest would take two weeks.
Thank goodness she hadn’t blasted the sixth layer’s forest. If Xiao Lv saw her tender shoots reduced to blackened sticks, she’d go berserk.
Carefully, ox-horse Puji cleared the wreckage. Even residual fumes in closed pockets could shave off -10 HP.
Wait—what’s this?
In a pit at ground zero, they found a small glob of black liquid.
It emitted strong corrosive fumes, fungal tendrils dissolving on contact.
Judging by the pit size, there’d been more at first, but most had vaporized.
This had to be Gray’s doing too.
They bottled it in glass—like a natural toxin.
The principle was clear enough. That “storage organ” wasn’t infinite space. The breath stored as liquid, then vaporized into gas on release.
But since she blasted too much too fast, some stayed liquid.
Which meant this was concentrated essence.
And didn’t the Thousand-Spindle Mayflies have weak corrosion resistance…?
…
…
…
The Rift.
A specially modified bat Puji descended.
【Nightmare Incarnation LV3】 + 【Corrosion Resistance LV7】 + 【Spit Arrow LV5】 + 【Fungal Regeneration LV4】 + 【Mana Storage LV7】 + 【Precision LV6】
Carrying the black liquid in a vial, the Puji approached its target.
Before arrival, it absorbed the liquid through a nozzle grown by skill.
Even at LV7, Corrosion Resistance couldn’t nullify the damage.
But with mana-buffed Regeneration, it stayed alive long enough to reach the swarm’s nest.
At once, mayflies surged to intercept.
The bat Puji spat—one shot.
Unlike fungal cannons, Spit Arrow had almost no recoil. With 【Precision】, the shot hit clean—nailing a LV31 mayfly.
Its shrill scream echoed as it convulsed and fell, dead.
Instant kill. Effectiveness overwhelming.
The bat was seized and torn apart moments later, but Lin Jun hardly cared.
Watching through the link, his mood soared.
Gray suddenly seemed much cuter.
As the saying goes—eat what strengthens you.
Would feeding her more acid Puji speed up breath recharge?
