Chapter 86 The Village Chief Visits

After clearing the weeds from the open space behind the house, Fu Wenwen used her abilities to make the root systems churn underground, softening the soil. With all this done, Fu Wenwen smiled, hands on her hips, satisfied.

"Mom!! Where are you?" Just as she was about to go out and borrow some seeds from the neighbors, she heard Lin An's anxious cry.

Fu Wenwen quickly responded, "Eh, Mom's here!"

"Mom, where did you go?" When Fu Wenwen returned to the front yard, Lin An immediately rushed into her arms, tears streaming down his face.

Fu Wenwen wiped away Lin An's tears and held him up, her heart aching. "Mom went to the backyard to till the soil. I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you."

"Mmm~" Lin An buried his face in Fu Wenwen's embrace and shook his head, afraid that his mother would run away.

"Are you hungry? Look, Mom made you something delicious!" After comforting him for a while, Fu Wenwen let go of Lin An, took his hand, and led him to the kitchen.

"Look, pork rib rice! Doesn't it smell good?" Fu Wenwen smiled. Lin An nodded vigorously.

"Mom's cooking smells the best," Lin An gave Fu Wenwen a sweet smile.

Fu Wenwen chuckled, took Lin An to wash his hands, then had him sit down. She went into the kitchen, poured soy sauce into the pot. The oil from the ribs had been absorbed by the rice. With a little soy sauce mixed in, the flavor would make Lin An want more.

There was just enough food for her and Lin An, one bowl each. After taking just one bite, neither of them could stop eating.

After a satisfying meal, Fu Wenwen brought out a new story and told it to Lin An, coaxing him into a nap.

Only after hearing the new story did Lin An fall asleep contentedly.

Fu Wenwen went to her neighbor Aunt Tian's house to borrow seeds. Aunt Tian was surprised when Fu Wenwen said she wanted to borrow seeds.

"Fu Zhiqing, do you know how to plant?" Aunt Tian asked worriedly.

Everyone in the village knew that Fu Wenwen wasn't someone who could do farm work.

"I'll just plant a little for fun," Fu Wenwen chuckled.

After borrowing the seeds, Fu Wenwen nourished them with her wood-element ability before planting them. Seeds that had been nurtured had a higher survival rate and increased yield.

With another boost from her wood-element ability, small green sprouts immediately emerged from the soil, a thriving sight that brought joy.

Fu Wenwen didn't dare to use too much of her ability, as it had only just been planted, and it wouldn't be good if she were discovered.

She returned home, about to lie down with Lin An, when there was a sudden knock on the door.

Fu Wenwen opened the door and saw the village head. She nodded at him and invited him in. "Village head, what can I do for you?"

"Fu Zhiqing, as we agreed before, you will be the village's scorekeeper from now on. Please remember to come to work tomorrow," the village head told Fu Wenwen.

However, Fu Wenwen didn't want to take on this job anymore. "Village head, how about we forget it? Can you find someone else to be the scorekeeper? I don't want this job to cause unpleasantness in your family. Could you assign me another job?"

"Fu Zhiqing, on this matter, I, as a father, apologize to you on behalf of my daughter! I spoiled my girl too much. I didn't realize her thinking was skewed before, but now that I've discovered it, I can't just ignore it." Seeing Fu Wenwen say this, the village head understood.

He apologized to Fu Wenwen on behalf of Zhu Xi.

"Village head, please don't say that, it's not your fault!" Fu Wenwen quickly moved aside, feeling it would be a grave sin for the village head to apologize to her.

"A parent is responsible for their child's upbringing. It's my fault as a father for not teaching her well!" the village head told Fu Wenwen. "I know you're afraid of offending me, but don't worry, I will absolutely not hold any dissatisfaction towards you because of Zhu Xi."
