Chapter 73 Supplies in Hand

"Auntie, how can I accept this? I should be thanking you. How can you bring so many things for me..." Fu Wenwen said, her face flushed red.

"Oh, heavens! These vegetables are nothing! They're not worth much, just grown from our own garden! Take them, take them! If you don't take them, I won't feel right accepting your gifts either." The neighbor aunt glanced at Fu Wenwen and said.

"Then... then thank you, Auntie." Fu Wenwen accepted the vegetables, giving a sweet smile.

"My husband's surname is Tian. Just call me Aunt Tian!" Aunt Tian watched Fu Wenwen, waving and smiling.

"Okay, Aunt Tian, come over and sit at my place when you have time." Fu Wenwen waved back at Aunt Tian.

"Alright," Aunt Tian smiled.

Fu Wenwen carried the basin back home.

After taking out the vegetables from the basin, she put some pig offal and bones into it and went to thank several other neighbors.

She remembered how Zhang Lao San and the other neighbors had helped her. Just the thought of them casually throwing on clothes and rushing out when needed made Fu Wenwen grateful.

The neighbors were surprised that Fu Wenwen was spending money to buy meat for them. Although pig offal wasn't very expensive, the gesture of Fu Wenwen remembering their help made them feel warm inside.

Of course, the families wouldn't let Fu Wenwen leave empty-handed. She ended up with another basin full of fresh vegetables.

As Fu Wenwen returned home with the vegetables, she couldn't help but marvel at the simplicity and kindness of the rural people. Her initial intention was just to express her thanks, but they turned out to be even more enthusiastic than her.

Through this incident, Fu Wenwen finally learned the surnames of the four neighboring families.

The family to her left was surnamed Tian. The one in front was surnamed Ma. The two households to her right were surnamed Sun; they were two brothers who had built their homes close together.

That day, the aroma of pork wafted from Fu Wenwen's home and those of her neighbors. Fu Wenwen stewed a pot of pork bone soup, stir-fried pig intestines with the garlic sprouts she received, then kneaded dough to make noodles. She cooked the noodles in the pork bone broth and served them with the stir-fried pig intestines. A bowl of fragrant pork bone and intestine noodles was completed.

Fu Wenwen and Lin An ate with gusto. Lin An finished his entire bowl of noodles, not even leaving a drop of soup.

This startled Fu Wenwen, who worried that Lin An might have eaten too much.

"An'an, does your tummy hurt from eating so much?" Fu Wenwen looked at Lin An's small belly with concern, afraid he might be uncomfortable.

"Mom, your noodles are so delicious!" Lin An looked at Fu Wenwen with shining eyes. He had never eaten such fragrant noodles before.

"Do you like it? If you like it, I'll make it for you again tomorrow!" Fu Wenwen smiled.

"I like it," Lin An's eyes sparkled; he couldn't have been happier.

Seeing Lin An so happy, finally displaying a child's innocent smile, Fu Wenwen's lips curved upwards unconsciously.

It turned out that a child's smile was truly contagious.

That night, after coaxing Lin An to sleep, Fu Wenwen once again tried to use her special ability. She opened her space, looking for books. She remembered having obtained a few storybooks before.

Looking at the space filled with supplies, Fu Wenwen chuckled. She was fortunate that before transmigrating into this book, she hadn't had a chance to hand over her supplies. Flour, rice, grains, oils, seasonings, various beans, and so on were all treasures.

Not to mention, she had also stocked up on quite a few towels, soap, and other daily necessities. She was grateful for her "hoarding" nature that led her to collect so many things.

With these supplies, she and Lin An would have no worries about food and clothing. However, she still needed to be cautious, as she couldn't explain their origin. It wouldn't be good if they were discovered.

Having grain in hand was like possessing an empire.
