Chapter 32 Who Poisoned Her

"Arsenic!"

"How could she have been poisoned with arsenic?"

Zhang Meiyu’s eyes widened, filled with disbelief.

How could Tang Xiaomin have been poisoned by arsenic from a mere burnt talisman?

She only intended to dispel Tang Xiaomin's ill fortune, not to poison her.

The doctor said gravely, "Mrs. Tang, we are only responsible for saving her. As for how she was poisoned, we have no information."

The doctor handed the critical illness notice to Zhang Meiyu, who was now in a complete panic.

If anything happened to Tang Xiaomin, she would surely not escape blame.

"Doctor, Doctor, no matter what method you use, you must save her, Doctor!"

The doctor replied, "Mrs. Tang, we are doctors, and we will do our utmost. However, we are not gods."

Just then, a scream came from the emergency room.

"It’s bad, the patient's heart rate is dropping rapidly, hurry..."

The doctor rushed back into the emergency room, leaving Zhang Meiyu alone, bewildered.

Zhang Meiyu was stunned, utterly stunned.

Trembling, she took out her phone and called Tang Zhongcheng.

"Honey… Xiao Min… she’s in the hospital, hurry over, the doctor gave her a critical illness notice…"

Zhang Meiyu was on the verge of tears, driven to tears by urgency and fear.

Tang Zhongcheng, who was in a meeting, stood up immediately upon hearing this.

"What happened? Why is she in the hospital when she was fine?"

Zhang Meiyu dared not admit that she had put something in Tang Xiaomin's coffee.

"Honey, please come quickly, I just heard the doctor say her heart is failing… sob."

*Crash!*

Tang Zhongcheng, hearing the news so suddenly, dropped his phone and walked out without a word, leaving the meeting room.

When Tang Yu and Tang Zhongcheng arrived at the hospital, the doctor announced that Tang Xiaomin’s condition had temporarily stabilized, but she was still not out of danger and needed to remain in the intensive care unit for observation.

There was nothing they could do, and they weren't allowed to see her. They could only anxiously wait at the hospital.

Tang Zhongcheng, after failing to get a clear answer from Zhang Meiyu, questioned the doctor.

Upon learning that Tang Xiaomin had been poisoned with arsenic, his first suspect was Zhang Meiyu.

"Did you poison her, ah!"

Faced with Tang Zhongcheng's accusation, Zhang Meiyu could only reveal the truth.

"I… I don't know either."

"Yesterday, I returned from Fragrant Mountain, and a master gave me a talisman. After burning it and mixing it with water for Tang Xiaomin to drink, it was supposed to dispel her ill fortune. I don't know how she got poisoned with arsenic."

"How could I have intentionally poisoned her?"

"You know in your heart whether you poisoned her or not," Tang Zhongcheng said.

"Her temperament has changed drastically lately, she’s been defying you and going against you. Last night you even wanted to kick her out of the house to live alone. Besides you, who else would do such a thing to her!"

Zhang Meiyu felt wronged; she truly hadn't intended to harm Tang Xiaomin.

What hurt her most was Tang Zhongcheng's lack of trust.

After so many years of marriage, they should have understood and trusted each other.

But today, Zhang Meiyu suddenly realized that she had never truly understood the man in front of her.

Especially concerning Aunt Xue, Tang Zhongcheng had meticulously arranged for Aunt Xue to enter the Tang family, and the hidden reasons were still unknown.

Zhang Meiyu, not to be outdone, retorted, "I dislike Tang Xiaomin, but so do you, don't you? I suspect you too. You also hate her to death."

"You…"

Zhang Meiyu and Tang Zhongcheng almost had a fight at the hospital.

Tang Yu arrived and mediated.

"Dad, Mom, stop arguing for now. No matter what, Xiao Min is related to us by blood. How could we harm her? Perhaps it was an accidental ingestion."

"What's important now is the Ye family. They will likely hear the news, and we need to provide a reasonable explanation when they inquire."

Tang Zhongcheng thought for a moment and decided to go all out.

"Just say she has congenital heart disease and suddenly fell ill, so she was rushed to the hospital. That's the explanation. Remember this, I'll sort out the hospital."

The Tang family motto was to prioritize the family's interests in all matters, so they naturally wouldn't let outsiders know that Tang Xiaomin had been poisoned with arsenic within the Tang household.

After the doctor’s rescue, Tang Xiaomin woke up and, with her astonishing recovery ability, was discharged from the hospital the next day.

Zhang Meiyu felt guilty towards her and personally poured her a glass of water.

"Xiao Min, have some water."

Tang Xiaomin looked at the glass of water, recalling the coffee.

Although the doctor said she was hospitalized due to a heart condition, Tang Xiaomin knew very well that she had always been in good health.

She had fainted that day because she drank Zhang Meiyu's coffee, and that day Zhang Meiyu had suddenly acted kindly towards her, reminding her that the coffee would taste bad if it got cold.

Tang Xiaomin looked at the glass of water and said with a cold laugh, "You didn't poison this, did you?"

Tang Xiaomin's words made Zhang Meiyu's face turn pale, her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly denied it.

"What nonsense are you talking about? How could I possibly poison you? No matter what I do, I'm still your mother, how could I do something like that to harm you?"

"Really? Then why did I end up in the hospital before?" Tang Xiaomin said coldly, "Zhang Meiyu, I've noted this down, and I will definitely get my revenge."

"Tang Xiaomin, I truly didn't harm you!" Zhang Meiyu vehemently denied.

Tang Xiaomin sneered and said no more. She had nothing to say to her.

Zhang Meiyu experienced a feeling of being unable to explain herself.

It wasn't her doing, yet Tang Xiaomin was convinced she was responsible, and so was Tang Zhongcheng.

Aunt Xue said beside Zhang Meiyu, "Madam, if Tang Xiaomin doesn't appreciate it, then so be it. Why bother trying to please her?"

Zhang Meiyu looked at Aunt Xue beside her, scrutinizing her carefully.

She suddenly realized that Aunt Xue, whether in her attire or skin care, was no less than herself, a wealthy madam.

In terms of looks, when Aunt Xue first arrived at the Tang family, although not as beautiful as herself, she was still pleasing to the eye.

After learning that Tang Zhongcheng had helped Aunt Xue fabricate her academic qualifications years ago, Zhang Meiyu found Aunt Xue increasingly displeasing to her.

"My affairs with her are none of your business as a housekeeper. Remember your place; you are merely a servant of the Tang family and are not qualified to comment on the masters' affairs."

Aunt Xue was doused with cold water by this sudden reprimand, and she was greatly surprised.

"Madam, you are right to reprimand me; it was my mistake to speak out of turn."

Zhang Meiyu glared fiercely at Aunt Xue, "Although you've been in the Tang family for over ten years, if you make such a low-level mistake again, don't blame me for being unforgiving."

"Madam, I know I was wrong, truly know I was wrong."

"You may leave!"

Aunt Xue meekly withdrew, but after she reached the second floor, her expression was filled with disdain.

"So what if I said something wrong? With you, you actually think you can drive me away, hmph."
