Chapter 329: Chapter 301: Can You Take Me In First?
Before Gu Qili returned to her home country, Mickey had already found her a house that was not in the downtown area, close to the vineyard, with two bedrooms and one living room, facing south on both sides, and very spacious.
After shopping for some daily necessities, Mickey asked what she wanted to eat. Gu Qili put the items into the trunk of the car and thought for a moment, then said: "Let’s have pig’s trotters rice from Li’s."
Bordeaux also had pig’s trotters rice, but it was far from authentic, and finding genuine Aus City cuisine in Bordeaux was nearly impossible.
While Gu Qili and Mickey were dining in the restaurant, they suddenly heard a crisp, somewhat nasally voice: "Uncle, give me a portion of pig’s trotters rice."
The ordering counter was too high, so he had to stand on tiptoe to put the money up: "Uncle, no soybeans or greens, just the pig’s trotters." As he spoke, he licked his lips.
"Wow, this little guy is just like you." Mickey elbowed Gu Qili and pointed to the soybeans and greens on her plate, which she had set aside distastefully.
Gu Qili looked up, and the little guy had already picked up his takeout box and entered through the revolving door, leaving her with only a view of his defiant back.
She thought, for such a young child to come out and buy food by himself, his parents must be quite careless.
Right after finishing the meal, Gu Qili received a call from Chen Yishu.
"Qili, you’re back?"
"Yeah, I just arrived this morning." Gu Qili opened the car door and sat inside.
"Do you have time now?"
"Yes." She had just returned to the country, originally planning to visit the vineyard, but she had arranged to have dinner with an investor the other night.
Chen Yishu chuckled twice, then shamelessly asked, "Then could you pick up Tongtong from kindergarten for me? Qian Ru and I are tied up today, and Tongtong was thrilled to hear her Aunt Qili is back."
"Sure, I’ll stop by after school."
"Thanks a lot, I’ll make it up to you when we meet next time."
After hanging up, Mickey swung her fist in indignation: "That bastard Chen Yishu, did he ask you to pick up Tongtong again?"
Gu Qili blinked innocently: "Yes."
"He and his wife are always glued together, spending everyday all lovey-dovey, and he doesn’t even have time to pick up his own kid! I’ve picked her up several times on his behalf."
Chen Yishu and his wife met while traveling and were just friends at that time. Later, when Gu Qili went to country F, Chen Yishu went out of town to clear his head and coincidentally met her again. The two traveled across much of China together, developed a sympathetic friendship, and couldn’t help falling in love. Shortly after returning, Lin Xianru became pregnant, and they quickly got married.
Their honeymoon was spent in country F. Later, when little Tongtong was born, Chen Yishu and his wife even took her to country F for a trip, where Gu Qili took great care of them and developed a deep bond with Tongtong.
Seeing Chen Yishu find his own happiness, Gu Qili sincerely felt happy for him.
The kindergarten dismisses at four, and Gu Qili was there waiting early, while Mickey had to leave earlier to go to class.
When dismissal time arrived, children started coming out one after another, picked up by their parents.
Gu Qili waited for a while and didn’t see Tongtong, so she went to ask the teacher.
"You are Miss Gu, right? Mr. Chen called to say that you would be picking up Chen Zitong today."
"And where’s Tongtong?"
"Aunt Qili." While speaking, Chen Zitong came running out with a big backpack, her braids swinging left and right with her steps.
She lunged into Gu Qili’s arms and hugged her thighs tightly: "Aunt Qili, I missed you so much."
Gu Qili squatted down and lifted her up: "Auntie missed you too. Why were you so slow today?"
"I was waiting for Niannian." Tongtong cocked her head, her little face showing worry.
Niannian?
Gu Qili’s body jolted, as if someone had struck at her acupoint.
No matter how much she wanted to forget the past, in her midnight dreams, Niannian was like a thorn, forever lodged in her heart, occasionally causing her deep pain.
"But Niannian didn’t come at all today." Tongtong pouted, "Even the teacher doesn’t know where he went."
Her words abruptly pulled Gu Qili back from her thoughts, her smile becoming slightly stiff: "Is he your good friend?"
Tongtong nodded vigorously then immediately shook her head: "He’s really great, but he doesn’t really fit in, he doesn’t like to talk to anyone. I heard his father is very rich, but their relationship seems not very good, and every time there is a parent-teacher meeting, it’s their butler who comes."
