Chapter 428: Chapter 383: He is Willing to Go to Hell
Luo Shangqing, wearing white gloves, took the blood sample and casually asked, "Where did you get this from?"
"You test it first, I’ll tell you later."
Luo Shangqing had a feeling that this sample was not simple, but he still tested it immediately. To his surprise, the blood matched Gu Qili’s very closely, almost perfectly.
"Shuoqian, whose blood is this?" Luo Shangqing knew Gu Qili had no relatives, and the high compatibility probably meant that it was from someone closely related by blood. But her father had passed away, and so had her mother. Could it be...
"It’s her twin sister, Gu Yunxi." Mu Shuoqian leaned against his workbench, glimpsing hope faintly.
"You can’t be serious?" Luo Shangqing suddenly realized what he was planning and shook his head disapprovingly, "Shuoqian, don’t do anything foolish,
"Then tell me, when will we find a donor? Should we wait until Qiqi is in extreme pain? I can’t stand watching her suffer even for a minute each day. Do you know how painful that feels? It’s more painful than someone gouging out your liver with a knife. So, no matter the cost, even if it means a life for a life or spending my life in prison, I must keep her alive." Mu Shuoqian finished speaking, bitterly curling his lips up, "Nothing is more important than her living. If going to hell is what it takes, I’ll do so without regrets."
Luo Shangqing, having been brothers with him for so many years, understood his stubbornness; once he made a decision, there was no turning back. He couldn’t wait any longer; his patience had already been worn thin by her pain. He would rather resort to illegal measures or even become a hitman to ensure her safety and health, regardless of the costs involved.
What else could Luo Shangqing say? As his brother, he had already decided to stand by his side, ready to commit even arson and murder together.
"So when do you plan to act?" Luo Shangqing asked, calm in his demeanor,
"In two days, after I’ve handled some matters, you should prepare for the surgery." Mu Shuoqian wanted to smoke, but smoking was banned in Luo Shangqing’s laboratory, so he had to restrain himself, "Old Luo, what I’m giving you is a corpse. All you need to do is the transplant surgery. You understand what I mean, right?"
Mu Shuoqian didn’t want to drag Luo Shangqing down with him, so he decided to take the responsibility alone.
"What nonsense are you talking about? There’s no need to be so clear with me. If I do this, I’m part of it. I’ll face the consequences with you," said Luo Shangqing with a resigned laugh, "Who else but you, my love-stricken brother, could bring me such fate."
Killing for organs totally went beyond his medical ethics and moral principles, was despised by the society, unacceptable by social standards, and challenged his own beliefs. Yet, he wasn’t afraid; if his hands got dirty, he wouldn’t mind giving up his medical career. The Luo family wouldn’t let him starve, but a brother only comes once, if not him, who else is going to help?
"Shuoqian, you know, taking someone’s life like this is completely immoral."
"I know, that’s why I’m willing to pay the price. Once the surgery is successful and Qiqi has fully recovered, I will turn myself in." In his life, he had never misused his wealth and power for murder or arson, except for illegally detaining Qiu Yufei for four years. And this time, he wouldn’t disregard the law again, because Gu Yunxi was a living person, and he had no right to end her life, even if she were a wicked criminal."
"But if Qiqi finds out you killed her sister to save her with a liver transplant, she will never accept it."
"That’s why she will never know. Only you and I will know about this."
"I understand." Luo Shangqing patted his arm, "I’ll arrange the surgery immediately."
"Thanks, Old Luo." Mu Shuoqian suddenly thought of something,
Mu Shuoqian left the research institute; it was already dark. He took out his phone to call Yuan Yi.
"Has Madam slept?"
"She has. She just asked for my phone to call you, but I lied that the phone was out of battery. She probably realized I did it on purpose and did not ask further. Young Master Qian, is Madam becoming suspicious? She’s been asking why you haven’t come to pick her up."
She was always smart. Being in danger and him not showing up immediately, she must have suspicions. But right now, he couldn’t go to her. He needed to stabilize Gu Yunxi first, not allowing even a hint of suspicion.
"Keep an eye on Madam, make sure she doesn’t leave there. I’ll send someone to pick you up in two days."
"Understood, Young Master Qian."
Yuan Yi hung up the phone, and as he turned around, he saw Gu Qili standing behind him which startled him, giving him a guilty conscience. Hastily, he said, "Madam."
"Yuan Brother, didn’t you say your phone was out of battery?" Gu Qili looked at him suspiciously. She hadn’t heard much, but she had sharply caught the words "Young Master Qian." He was talking to Mu Shuoqian.
"I... I charged it just now." Yuan Yi said with a slightly embarrassed smile.
Gu Qili extended her hand: "Then please lend me your phone, I need to talk to Mu Shuoqian."
Yuan Yi hesitated and did not immediately hand over his phone.
"Are you hiding something from me? Sending me here, yet he doesn’t show up; what exactly are you plotting behind my back?" Gu Qili’s piercing gaze made it almost impossible for him to avoid.
Fearing that she would continue to suspect, Yuan Yi had no choice but to hand her the phone: "Madam, please make your call."
Gu Qili had just reached out to take it, but Yuan Yi’s hand slipped and the phone fell onto the marble floor, the screen shattering like a spider web. Now, even if it had power, it couldn’t be used to make calls.
Gu Qili sighed, more certain that they were hiding something from her. But Mu Shuoqian deliberately didn’t want her to know, so how could she possibly ask? Moreover, this was a villa by the mountainside, accessible only by private cars, no other vehicles could come and go, making it impossible for her to leave.
"Madam." Yuan Yi also felt he made it a bit too obvious, but he couldn’t think of a better way. To dispel the doubts in Gu Qili’s mind, he could only say, "Madam, please believe in Young Master Qian."
She had always believed in him. Ever since her identity was replaced by Gu Yunxi, she had always believed in him. She didn’t want to suspect anything, she was just afraid he was doing something that could harm himself, and she feared even more that Gu Yunxi was scheming something behind his back.
By doing this, Gu Yunxi must be blaming the death of Cheng Menghong on her, Mu Shuoqian, and Qiu Lan. Her appearance had only one purpose, revenge.
How could she not worry about having such an enemy close to Mu Shuoqian?
~
When Gu Yunxi woke up, it was already the next day morning. She glanced at the spot next to her, there was no sign anyone slept there. This made her puzzled, were Gu Qili and Mu Shuoqian still sleeping in separate rooms?
While she was puzzled, someone knocked on the door and then opened it. Mu Shuoqian stood outside the door, backlighted, his facial expression flickering in the light, but his voice was still magnetic and charming.
"Are you awake?"
Gu Yunxi had just adapted to her own role, and at this moment, she was Gu Qili.
"Just woke up. Didn’t you come back last night?" Gu Yunxi uncovered the quilt, slipped on her slippers.
"Had some matters and couldn’t make it back last night. Let’s go, let’s have breakfast," Mu Shuoqian said, leading the way with a concerned tone, "How are you feeling?"
"Fine."
"Rest more, I’ve asked the servant to come back, so you don’t need to cook anymore."
Upon hearing this, Gu Yunxi was reluctant,
"It’s okay, making some simple dishes won’t be too tiring. Besides, I want you to eat the meals I cook, after all..." Gu Yunxi lowered her head, sighing softly, "After all, I won’t have many chances to cook for you anymore."
Although these words came out of Gu Yunxi’s mouth, they still brought a strong shock to Mu Shuoqian, and further strengthened his resolution.
He didn’t speak, suddenly stopping his steps, his gaze intensely fixed on her: "Don’t talk nonsense."
Gu Yunxi gently pursed her lips: "Sorry, I made you sad. I won’t say it anymore."
Mu Shuoqian remained silent, still staring at her. This face was exactly like Gu Qili’s, yet even then, he could tell instantly. No one could replace Gu Qili’s place, and only she could make him pay any price.
Felt a bit guilty under Mu Shuoqian’s gaze, Gu Yunxi wondered if her overeagerness had raised his suspicions. Just when she was about to say something to ease the somewhat awkward atmosphere, Mu Shuoqian suddenly spoke: "Since you like it, then go ahead."
"Really? That’s great," Gu Yunxi immediately smiled, rubbing her hands together, "I’ll make you breakfast now."
Gu Yunxi happily entered the kitchen, but Mu Shuoqian was staring at her back with a deep and inscrutable gaze.
Gu Yunxi’s such eager performance, was it an attempt to mimic Gu Qili or was there another motive? Regardless of the reason, this was definitely not normal.
He glanced down slightly, then followed her into the kitchen.
Gu Yunxi didn’t expect him to come into the kitchen, her smile became slightly flustered: "What are you doing in here, I can handle it myself."
"You’re not well, I’m here to watch over you." His gaze was intense, as if he could see through one’s heart, which made Gu Yunxi even more uneasy. But she couldn’t ask him to leave, so the meal was tense, and under his watch, it was impossible to poison him. She only managed to make some fried eggs and bread.
Mu Shuoqian hadn’t sat down to eat yet when suddenly someone knocked on the door. He said "I’ll get the door" and walked away directly.
Gu Yunxi felt that these few days had been incredibly unlucky for her. The opportunity had been right before her, yet she couldn’t seize it. If this dragged on, she feared she’d reveal her motives and ruin everything.
"Mr. Mu, there’s someone named Qiu Yufei looking for you. Would you like to see her?"
Upon hearing the name Qiu Yufei, Gu Yunxi immediately panicked.
