Su Ling did not sleep well that night, plagued by nightmares that repeatedly woke her.
She dreamed of zombies mutating, becoming capable of flying, running, and jumping, attacking her from all directions and cornering her.
Not only that, but torrential rain, earthquakes, and mudslides struck one after another.
Everywhere were the corpses of survivors, the land ravaged and the sight heart-wrenching.
Su Ling was tormented by nightmares until the latter half of the night, when she finally escaped the ordeal and prepared to get some good sleep.
But she seemed to have only slept for a few minutes before she heard the sound of rushing water.
Upon hearing the noise, Su Ling's eyes snapped open, and she sat up in the darkness.
Her consciousness cleared instantly, and she entered a state of alert.
It was raining!
Reaching this conclusion, Su Ling's heart was greatly alarmed.
Had she misremembered the time? Or had the torrential rain in this life arrived early?
Sitting in the tent, Su Ling wasn't worried about the rain soaking through or the tent being submerged in water.
Because of her past life memories, she had later had Xu Lin and the others place hollowed-out wooden boards beneath the tent, separating it from the rooftop floor. Moreover, a canopy had been erected above their tent.
Even the water pipes on the rooftop had been adjusted in advance.
Su Ling wasn't concerned about these things. What worried her at the moment was how long this prematurely arrived torrential rain would last.
This was truly a case of plans not keeping up with changes.
Su Ling didn't sleep through the latter half of the night. Unable to sleep, she simply practiced her powers within the tent. She repeatedly generated crystal cores in her palm. The crystal cores she produced were of superior quality, many times better than those she collected from zombie heads.
Moreover, most of the crystal cores she produced were blue, with very few white or transparent ones.
Occasionally, red crystal cores would also be produced.
She repeatedly depleted her powers, then replenished them with the space water.
This cycle continued until dawn, when the tent became bright. Only then did she stop.
The result of her efforts in the latter half of the night was a pile of crystal cores as high as a small mountain in her tent.
She collected them all into her space, then opened the tent and went out.
They had erected a rain-proof shelter on the rooftop, so their actions were not affected or limited.
Su Ling was not the only one whose sleep was affected that night; Gu Shangse and the others were also similarly affected.
Su Ling was the first to emerge from the tent, followed closely by Gu Shangse, Xu Lin, and the others.
The rain continued to fall without stopping.
Su Ling stood under the rain shelter and looked at Gu Shangse and the others. "Should we make soy milk and wrap rolls today?"
The fruits and vegetables brought back yesterday were perfect for the filling of wrap rolls.
"Okay," Gu Shangse was the first to agree. He walked towards Su Ling and picked up a basin at the makeshift kitchen to measure flour.
Xu Lin and the others had already gone to work, their tasks clearly divided.
However, Su Ling and Zhang Miaomiao, the two girls, found themselves with little to do.
Su Ling glanced at Zhang Miaomiao, who was sitting on a chair, then turned and went back to the tent. When she returned, she placed a bag on the table.
Zhang Miaomiao was watching Li Yunlong and the others prepare breakfast when the bag was suddenly thrown at her, startling her.
Turning around, she saw Su Ling sitting opposite her.
"Medicine," Su Ling said, meeting Zhang Miaomiao's gaze, her words sparse.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Miaomiao was touched. She reached out and opened the bag. All sorts of anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and anti-swelling medications, exactly what she needed most, were inside.
Looking at the medicine, Zhang Miaomiao's nose stung, and tears welled up, dripping onto the table. She quickly wiped away her tears and looked up at Su Ling. "Thank you."
Su Ling didn't reply. Zhang Miaomiao, knowing Su Ling's aloof nature, didn't say anything further. She simply took some bread and a bottle of mineral water for herself.
After filling her stomach with something, she took a dose of medicine according to the instructions on the box.
