Chapter 94 Rao Bei Chen

Seemingly unwilling to give up just yet, the girl glanced out the window before turning to the man. Her eyes darted around, and she took small steps to catch up to him.

"If, I mean, if it's always just us siblings, going to the survivor base will be rather boring. I think we could invite people to join us. Or, we could join others."

The girl was lively and outgoing, enjoying company.

These past few days of the apocalypse, unable to go out, she was nearly suffocating.

Having finally encountered survivors, she was determined not to let the opportunity slip away. The man sat on the sofa, holding a cup of water, and looked at the girl. "In this apocalypse, people's hearts are treacherous. You think they're friendly, but are they really?"

After posing the question to the girl, the man continued, "You like excitement, I know, brother. Just hold on a little longer. Once we reach the survivor base, there will be plenty of new friends and excitement."

The girl pouted, then grudgingly sat beside the man. "Then when do we set off for the survivor base?"

"Wait a little longer." After saying this, the man's gaze fell upon the design blueprints spread out on the table. "Later, I'll need to go out to prepare the supplies we'll need for the journey. You stay home obediently, don't go anywhere, understand?"

The girl didn't speak, merely nodded obediently.

If Su Ling were here, she would surely recognize this sibling pair.

The man's name was Rao Beichen, and the girl's name was Rao Can.

Rao Beichen was one of the few who possessed the same construction ability as Su Ling, the ability to build mobile fortresses and produce crystal cores. In his past life, Rao Beichen was the very first to successfully construct a mobile fortress.

Of course, all of this was a story for another time.

When the siblings met Su Ling in the days to come, it would be discussed further.

The scene returned to Su Ling. She subtly noticed that the gaze that had initially been on her disappeared briefly, and then a new gaze fell upon her.

Soon after, those two gazes seemed to reach a silent agreement and withdrew.

Although the stares directed at her had vanished, Su Ling didn't let her guard down.

Perhaps they had left to approach their direction; one could never be sure.

Looking at Gu Shangse ahead, Su Ling didn't urge him on or interrupt him. Instead, she patiently waited for him to practice his abilities.

After all, she believed in facing challenges as they came, and that nothing was insurmountable.

Glancing up at the sun, Su Ling felt that she and Gu Shangse wouldn't be able to return in time to meet Xu Lin and the other two and resolve their food situation.

She hoped that the three of them wouldn't worry too much about her and Gu Shangse's absence.

Watching Gu Shangse diligently killing zombies and collecting crystal cores, Su Ling kept an eye on the shops lining the streets they passed.

Her personal space couldn't be revealed, at least not for now.

Therefore, the food they would have for lunch had to be sourced on the spot, from whatever they could scavenge from the shops they passed.

Time ticked by, and Su Ling followed Gu Shangse's pace, stopping and starting. The street shops they passed yielded no food.

Su Ling had almost given up hope when, at the corner of the street, a cake shop with its door and windows partially ajar caught her attention.

She glanced at Gu Shangse in the distance and called out to him, "Gu Shangse."

Hearing her voice, Gu Shangse finished off the zombies near him, discovered his own, and turned to look at Su Ling. "What is it?"

Su Ling pointed to the cake shop by the roadside. "We won't be able to get back for lunch. Let's see if there's anything inside."

Gu Shangse understood Su Ling's intention. After scavenging the heads of the fallen zombies, finding nothing, he jogged towards Su Ling.

Stopping in front of her, he, being slightly taller, looked down at Su Ling. "You wait here for me. I'll be right back."

Su Ling hummed in agreement and watched as Gu Shangse turned and entered the cake shop, while she and Yang Yang remained outside to wait.
