After much thought, Su Ling could only accept this premise.
With that settled, Su Ling finished washing the last bowl. She handed it to Gu Shangse, looking at him with a placid gaze, "This is a good ability. You should practice all three of your abilities these few days and try to reach a proficient level."
"The areas with the highest concentration of zombies in this building have already been cleared. It won't be long before this place is no longer our main battlefield. The commercial streets and night markets in the city center are the primary battlegrounds we need to conquer."
Gu Shangse took the bowl, washed it clean, and wiped his hands with a towel. "I understand."
When the apocalypse struck, that area was a prime location for crowds.
Whether it was men, women, old, or young, the city's commercial streets and night markets were their preferred spots for evening strolls.
Su Ling had been to that place before; cars couldn't pass through, and people were shoulder to shoulder.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that it was the place with the most zombies in the entire Xuyang City.
Furthermore, for survivors caught in that area, escaping alive would be harder than climbing to heaven.
Even Su Ling herself couldn't guarantee she could emerge unscathed from that place.
"I succeeded!"
From over there, Xu Lin's delighted voice rang out. Su Ling and Gu Shangse both turned to look at him.
Xu Lin, overjoyed, stood up and looked towards Su Ling.
He had been too focused on absorbing the energy from the crystal core to even notice Gu Shangse getting up and leaving.
Seeing Gu Shangse and Su Ling standing together, he was momentarily stunned, then raised his hand towards them, sand scattering from his grip.
Following Xu Lin's announcement of his success, Fatty and Skinny also declared their own victories.
"Congratulations (Congratulations)."
Su Ling and Gu Shangse spoke in unison, a rather synchronized display of rapport.
After Xu Lin and the other two successfully absorbed the crystal core energy, they proceeded according to Su Ling's plan to sweep through the floors and practice their skills on the zombies.
After Xu Lin and the other two departed, Gu Shangse did not follow. He looked at Su Ling and said, "I want to go back to my place."
Su Ling hummed in agreement and, slinging her Tang sword over her shoulder, prepared to leave.
Gu Shangse watched her, then walked up to stand beside her. "Can you accompany me?"
From the department store to his residence, the route was fraught with zombies. It would be a good opportunity to practice, and also to have some time alone with her.
Su Ling paused at the stairwell and looked back at Gu Shangse. "Can you ride a bicycle?"
She had a bicycle but didn't want to give him a ride.
Gu Shangse understood Su Ling's implication instantly. He nodded and walked in front of her. "Yes, I can."
Su Ling looked up, hands in her pockets. "Then let's go."
The two of them said no more, descending the stairs.
Su Ling led Gu Shangse to her secret base where she stored her bicycles, pointing to one. "Ride this."
Gu Shangse had initially intended to mention that he had a car and they could drive.
But then he quickly realized that with Su Ling's intelligence and capability, she couldn't possibly not know about the car parked at the department store.
Since she hadn't suggested driving, it meant she had her own plan.
"Alright." He agreed, walked over, lifted the bicycle, and wheeled it in front of Su Ling. He mounted it first, then looked at Su Ling. "Get on."
Su Ling didn't stand on ceremony. Once she was seated, she said coolly, "Let's go."
On the sun-drenched streets, where zombies roamed, a bicycle weaved through the chaos.
The man riding the bicycle had a refined demeanor and a tall, upright posture. His face was as smooth and lustrous as jade.
The girl behind him had a perfect oval face, was well-proportioned and graceful, with a cool temperament.
If this were not the apocalypse, if it were just an ordinary day,
Such a scene could have been captured by a camera.
Because the two of them were exceptionally pleasing to the eye, and had the visual appeal of a date between the male and female protagonists in a novel.
However, who could deny that this was a form of romance under the apocalypse?
