Chapter 129 Unexpected Gains

High protein, abundant supply – a delicacy for survivors.

Having experienced the apocalypse, Su Ling was accustomed to such sights and found nothing unusual.

But for Jiang Jiang, who had just endured the end of the world, it was truly agonizing.

He had just vomited everything he ate for lunch. As he looked up, a piece of rotten meat crawling with maggots made intimate contact with his unharmed face.

What’s more, Jiang Jiang’s mouth was slightly open, and some maggots even fell into his mouth.

"Guh—"

Jiang Jiang clutched the wall and retched again, his stomach cramping from the sheer disgust.

Su Ling, as if oblivious to Jiang Jiang’s vomiting, carved a path of destruction, unstoppable.

She quickly cleared the zombies in the second-floor area, decapitating them to collect their crystal cores, and then headed towards the few stalls that were still faintly illuminated.

Meanwhile, Jiang Jiang had vomited until only stomach acid and bile remained. He wiped his mouth, ignoring the sticky discomfort on half his face. Seeing Su Ling moving forward, he hurried to catch up.

He felt his psychological resilience was too weak and knew he had to grow stronger quickly.

He didn't aim to be as powerful and omnipotent as his sister, but at least he couldn't be a burden or a liability.

Su Ling reached the brightly lit stalls and discovered that the generators were still running, powering several large freezers that were prominently displayed.

Thinking of this, Su Ling was delighted. She had ingredients for hot pot tonight.

Opening the freezers, she found them indeed stocked with plenty of frozen meat: ribs, pig trotters, large bones, pig heads, beef, and lamb. All the types of meat typically sold in this second-floor area were stored in these freezers.

Because the generators were still working and the freezers had not lost power, they remained operational, thus preserving the meat well.

Su Ling found some bags, taking a portion of pork, beef, and lamb each. After filling several bags until they were bulging, she casually waved her hand and collected all the large freezers in front of her into her space.

Jiang Jiang knew that Su Ling possessed the ability to store supplies. However, seeing her collect so much as they moved along, seemingly without limit, made him very curious.

But curiosity aside, he wouldn't ask.

Sometimes, curiosity killed the cat.

Furthermore, his sister trusted him, confiding in him alone. He should definitely keep her secret.

He wasn't stupid; how could he not understand why his sister chose him to accompany her, instead of his two older brothers?

What did this imply? It meant his brothers didn't know about his sister's supernatural ability to store supplies.

After the sweep, Su Ling and Jiang Jiang, carrying their bags of spoils, retreated from the farmers' market.

Emerging from the market, Su Ling surveyed the rows of shops outside, noting the abundance of food.

Jiang Jiang noticed Su Ling's longing gaze and said, "Sister, give me the things. I'll carry them, you go ahead."

Su Ling was pleased with Jiang Jiang's high level of awareness.

Putting down the items, Su Ling left Jiang Jiang behind and moved forward alone, targeting the shops.

Fruit shops, dried goods stores, pastry shops... anything Su Ling set her sights on, she took.

This time, however, her luck wasn't as great, as these were small establishments, and the collected items weren't plentiful.

Su Ling returned from her sweep, eating a box of *lu da gun* (rolled jelly cake).

By the time she reached Jiang Jiang, she had finished the box, leaving him gazing longingly and swallowing hard.

Seeing his yearning, Su Ling tossed him a box of red bean cakes and some fruit.

Then, Su Ling took a bag and squatted by the pile of hot pot ingredients, transferring some of the items she had stored in her space into the bag to take back.
