Chapter 3 Rebirth

Sunlight filled the windowsill, birds chirped crisply, and the cicadas' song was incessant.

A gentle breeze fluttered the white lace curtains on the windowsill.

On the bed in the room, the person lying there shifted, rolling up the quilt and curling into a ball.

"Mmm..."

A pained hum arose. The person on the bed was already drenched in sweat, their dark hair matted.

Suddenly, their tightly closed eyes snapped open, their gaze filled with intense killing intent, bloodthirsty and desolate.

Upon seeing their surroundings, Su Ling clearly froze. She shot up and took in everything in the room.

Her eyes couldn't hide her shock and disbelief, as if she couldn't believe her luck.

Closing her eyes, she opened them again after a long while. She rubbed her eyes and pinched her arm hard, leaving a bruise. Only then did she realize it wasn't a dream.

She had been reborn!

Su Ling quickly threw off the quilt and found her phone, checking the time: June 2093!

She had truly been reborn, three months before the apocalypse.

Her hands, clutching the phone, still trembled. Having endured the fiery trials of the apocalypse, the indifferent depths of Su Ling's eyes began to stir, and her eyes gradually welled up, "Heaven is not against me, heaven is not against me!"

She had been reborn, so what about her portable space...

Su Ling felt a wave of dizziness, her vision darkened. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in a breathtaking fairyland under a blue sky and white clouds, with green mountains and flowing water, rich in spiritual energy.

Mountains rose and fell, stretching endlessly, forests layered upon forests, and the sea vast...

Looking at it all, Su Ling felt both familiar and strange.

Was this her portable space?

But she clearly remembered her portable space wasn't like this.

In her previous life, she had activated her portable space a year after the apocalypse.

When her portable space opened in her previous life, it was an endless expanse of desert on all four sides.

Lifeless, it merely served as a storage for supplies, far from the vitality it possessed now.

Her current portable space was a perfect, scaled-down replica of Earth, complete with a functioning ecosystem.

The portable space was vast and beautiful, but without any living creatures, it felt empty.

Thinking of this, Su Ling exited the portable space and left the room, heading to the kitchen to find something.

Opening the refrigerator, she found it empty. She searched the kitchen for a long time and finally found a packet of strawberry seeds she had bought on a whim. Holding the small packet, Su Ling entered the portable space.

She went to the glistening black soil and scattered the strawberry seeds on it, tilling the earth and covering them.

Su Ling was still in the exploration phase of using the space.

Just as she finished planting the strawberry seeds, she faintly heard the gurgling sound of a stream. Looking up, she saw a house appear in her field of vision.

Su Ling quickly stood up and walked towards the newly appeared small house.

A bridge, spanning a gently flowing stream, led to the house.

Crossing the wooden bridge, Su Ling stepped into the area of the house. She gently pushed open the small yard gate and walked in.

The yard was neatly laid out, the soil was red, and nothing was planted. In the center of the yard was a fountain-like decoration. Next to it stood a wooden dining table and four logs chairs.

Su Ling paused, looking at the dry fountain, wondering if it would ever flow with water again.

She turned towards the house and stopped before the small wooden house, pushing the wooden door, which slowly opened.

Su Ling stood at the doorway for a moment, then stepped inside.

The first thing that met her eyes was a portrait of a woman hanging on the wall. The woman in the painting was dressed in ancient costume. As Su Ling stepped forward to get a closer look, the painting suddenly ignited without fire.

Fearing the fire would damage the wooden house, Su Ling quickly pulled down the painting.

It was this pull that caused the burning portrait to transform into a stream of red light and bore into her glabella.

Su Ling's vision darkened, and she braced herself against the table to keep from falling.

The next second, she was engulfed and consumed by a sensation like being burned by raging fire.

"Mmm..."
