Chapter 65 The Next Floor

Su Ling followed the sound and saw Fatty cornered by a male and female zombie.

A table was at the corner, and he hid beneath it, using other objects to fend off the zombies' attacks.

How to describe this scene? It was quite comical, clumsy, and amusing.

Su Ling's distance to Fatty was closer than the slender man fighting the zombies, but she didn't move, remaining in her spot.

She carried an umbrella on her back, wore a black top, a lollipop in her mouth, and her neat short hair made her small face appear delicate and petite.

Leaning against the wall, arms crossed, Su Ling watched the scene with interest.

Fatty was initially huddled under the table, trembling, but he always felt a pair of eyes on him, which made him uneasy.

Then, curiosity got the better of him. He boldly looked in the direction of those eyes and saw Su Ling watching him.

Damn it!

Being watched by a delicate girl like Su Ling while being cornered by zombies and scared out of his wits was incredibly humiliating.

Perhaps driven by masculine pride, Fatty found some unknown courage. He suddenly surged up, lifting the table above his head, baring his teeth and pushing the male and female zombies back, pinning them against the wall with the table.

Since it was the early stage of the apocalypse, the zombies' movement was slow and their lethality not strong, making them easy to deal with.

However, just like humans, these things would continuously strengthen, and so would the zombies.

After pinning the zombies, Fatty quickly turned to pick up the military knife he had dropped on the ground.

"Sever the head from the body, or pry open the skull."

From over there, Su Ling's cold voice rang out.

Fatty knew Su Ling was imparting her experience. He picked up the military knife in his hand, looked at the ferocious and terrifying zombies, gritted his teeth, and lunged forward.

"Crunch," "Crunch."

The sound of the knife cutting through soft tissues was clear, sending chills down one's spine.

After Fatty's strenuous efforts, the two zombies were dealt with. He then exerted all his might to pry open their skulls, intending to find something. When he cracked open a skull and saw the pile of foul-smelling brain matter inside, the instant noodles and milk he had eaten that morning almost came back up.

Fortunately, he had strong willpower and managed to suppress it, thus avoiding wasting food.

Enduring the nausea, Fatty rummaged through the purplish-blue brain tissue with his military knife, turning the brain matter into a mush.

He didn't find a crystal core, so he moved to the other one.

With the previous experience, although he still felt some resistance, his tolerance had increased.

Again, he found nothing, no crystal core as Su Ling had described.

However, Fatty wasn't discouraged. He looked towards Su Ling, who was leaning against the wall, tilting her head and watching him.

Fatty grinned sheepishly, his usual simple demeanor showing. He pointed towards where the slender man and Xu Lin were, signaling he would go over there.

Su Ling nodded at him, signaling him to hurry.

With Su Ling's affirmation, Fatty, despite his plumpness, moved quite nimbly.

We often fear the first step we don't take. In reality, that step isn't difficult. Once you take it, you'll realize it's truly easy. All the difficulties we perceive are simply self-imposed assumptions.

Fatty thought he would strive to pass Su Ling's assessment and accompany the slender man in following her through the apocalypse.

Su Ling put her hands in her pockets and walked towards the trio.

This floor was a residential level, with not many zombies, making them easy to handle.

Basically, the mutated zombies after the apocalypse were trapped in their rooms and couldn't get out.

By the time Su Ling arrived, the three of them had already cleared the wandering zombies on this floor.

The weather was hot, and after their strenuous exercise, sweat streamed down their faces.

Su Ling handed them water and said, "Next floor?"
