Chapter 38 The Team

Su Ling stood before the door, listening to the heart-wrenching cries from outside, her eyes unfazed.

As she heard the commotion, Su Ling lowered her gaze to the Tang dao in her hand, gripping it slightly tighter.

Her cold eyes scanned the pile of corpses before locking onto the warehouse door key.

She bent down, retrieved the key, and then placed her hand on the doorknob. With a gentle twist, a click echoed.

The door opened, and Su Ling saw the situation outside.

Five people stood at the door: three men and two women, their clothes stained with blood, looking quite disheveled.

The zombie corpse she had thrown out lay awkwardly to the side, twisted in a peculiar posture.

The screams Su Ling had just heard were two distinct female voices.

Judging by the still-wet bloodstains on the women's clothes, the thrown corpse had hit one of them.

As the door opened and Su Ling appeared, the attention of the three men and two women shifted from the corpse to her.

From the moment Su Ling appeared in the third-floor area, the group of five had been aware of her presence.

Seeing that Su Ling was alone and a seemingly delicate, fragile girl, they had not attacked her.

Instead, they had quietly observed her movements. Upon noticing that her objective was not the supermarket goods but the safety exit, they found it strange. However, they chose not to alert her and instead followed discreetly.

When Su Ling entered the room, they had intended to follow, but found the door locked from the inside.

Thus, they could only wait outside the door.

Later, they heard the door opening and a headless corpse being thrown out, hitting two of the women in their group.

This led to the ear-piercing screams!

The moment they saw the Tang dao in Su Ling's hand, smeared with flesh, blood, and debris, their perception of her silently transformed from a delicate, fragile girl to a formidable, cool, and commanding presence.

Five against one, the situation was at a stalemate, yet Su Ling was not at a disadvantage. Instead, she held the upper hand over the five.

Su Ling took a white towel from her bag, her gaze cold as she looked at the five people, her hands busy wiping the Tang dao.

"Li Yunlong." The tallest of the five men was the first to break the tense standoff.

As he spoke, the girl in his arms, pale with fright, also spoke, "Zhang Miaomiao."

Clearly, they were a couple.

Then—

The other couple also introduced themselves.

"Chen Jiakai." The speaker was, as before, the man.

Following this, the girl in Chen Jiakai's arms introduced herself: "Jiang Zhimin."

After the two couples introduced themselves, the lone boy with refined features spoke his name: "Xu Lin."

The five introduced themselves to show goodwill. Su Ling also lessened some of her coldness and bloodthirsty aura, replying, "Su Ling."

Vest, cargo pants, boots, windbreaker, hat...

Analyzing their attire, Su Ling guessed that they were likely traveling and passing through Xuyang City to restock supplies.

Li Yunlong, who introduced himself first, spoke again, looking at Su Ling, "I presume you came from outside. Can you tell us what the situation is like out there?"

Su Ling knew that three of the five men came from military backgrounds.

Furthermore, they did not exude much hostility or aggression. Therefore, she did not hesitate and asked, "Have you ever read doomsday novels or watched doomsday movies?"

Li Yunlong nodded. "We have."

Su Ling finished cleaning her blade. She tossed the towel onto the headless corpse, then sheathed her Tang dao and held it in her arms.

Looking up, she regarded the five people and said, "The world outside has become a doomsday world."

"Impossible, you're lying!"
