Chapter 45 Subdue

The armless zombie reacted swiftly. Before Su Ling could get close, it dodged her attack.

Then, it circled behind Su Ling, leaped into the air, and landed on her.

It used its only remaining injured arm to tightly grip Su Ling's neck. Its legs coiled around Su Ling's waist. Having gained control, it opened its mouth, revealing sharp fangs, and lunged for Su Ling's neck.

Knowing it was about to taste fresh blood and raw flesh, it became excited. The strange sounds from its throat made Su Ling's scalp tingle.

Su Ling couldn't shake off the armless zombie. A chilling aura was closing in on her neck.

She knew that if she didn't act quickly, her neck would be in grave danger.

With this thought, Su Ling gave up resisting and struggling. She used her knife to slash her own palm.

The blade cut through her skin, and blood began to flow.

As soon as the blood appeared, its metallic scent spread through the air, immediately drawing the armless zombie's attention.

Its sharp fangs halted a certain distance from Su Ling's neck. Su Ling could even feel it twitch its nose, inhaling deeply the blood scent permeating the air.

This was her chance!

Su Ling acted with lightning speed, without a hint of hesitation. She directly grabbed the short knife in her hand and thrust it forcefully into the armless zombie's head. Then, she sidestepped, grabbed the zombie's arm, and yanked hard.

She pulled the armless zombie off, causing it to fall to the ground. She then knelt on one knee, pressing down on its chest with force. Her short knife followed, slitting its throat. With a sharp twist, she severed the connection between its neck and head.

Having dealt with the armless zombie, Su Ling ignored the wound on her palm. She snapped her fingers, and a bright, fiery red flame erupted and burned in the air.

By the light of the flame, Su Ling could clearly see the armless zombie's condition.

In this short time, the wound where its arm had been cut off had already healed, and there were even signs of new flesh growing.

This discovery sent a chill down Su Ling's spine.

Even in the early stages of the apocalypse, zombies were awakening consciousness and possessing regenerative abilities. This was too terrifying.

If she hadn't come here, if she hadn't gone up to the rooftop through the stairwell, she wouldn't have discovered the existence of this armless zombie.

If this armless zombie were allowed to continue evolving, it would inevitably become a Corpse King.

Ultimate Corpse Kings were the most terrifying beings among zombies.

They could, single-handedly, wipe out an entire survivor base.

In her past life, there had been instances where survivor bases were massacred by incredibly powerful Corpse Kings.

Picking up her short knife, Su Ling pried open the armless zombie's skull to search for a crystal core.

A red crystal core appeared in Su Ling's vision. The moment she saw the red crystal, she froze.

No wonder this zombie was so formidable. A red crystal core could instantly bridge several levels of power.

Fortunately, she had encountered and eliminated it. If it had been left to evolve, it would truly be a terrifying threat.

After collecting the crystal core, Su Ling approached the Tang blade embedded in the pillar and, with all her might, pulled it free.

She wiped the Tang blade clean with a white towel, sheathed it, and slung it over her back. Gripping her short knife, she navigated through the mall.

She had no intention of returning the way she came. She truly wanted to avoid encountering Li Yunlong and his group again.

While moving through the mall, Su Ling didn't forget to collect supplies.

Anything she saw and needed, she moved into her space.

Ascending via the now-stopped escalators, Su Ling knew another fierce battle awaited her.

Pausing midway up the escalator, Su Ling picked up a peach and began to eat it.

After finishing the peach, she grabbed a few strawberries and a mango.

Once the fruits were consumed, she drank a bottle of water from her space.

After replenishing her energy, she drew her Tang blade and looked upwards, her steps never faltering.
