Chapter 703 The Reckless Twins

You could tell their strength was immense, and each attack was almost flawless. Even though the two of us possessed considerable combat prowess, we were still struggling to hold our ground under such circumstances. It was then that Xiao Yuande and others launched a guerrilla tactic, distracting them. Liu Yu Ning and I simultaneously counterattacked, landing solid punches on the back of their heads. However, these individuals seemed unfazed. They retaliated with a headbutt, forcing us to retreat rapidly. We crashed against a nearby wall, realizing we were cornered. They pressed their advantage, charging at us with incredible speed, now wielding Tang knives that had seemingly appeared from nowhere, slashing towards us!

We dodged frantically, shifting left and right. The two Tang knives met the wall with a clang. We had initially thought their weapons would be stuck, but that never happened!

They easily dislodged their Tang knives and began hacking at some of the nearby pillars. I couldn't understand what they were doing until the pillars began to tilt and fall towards us. Only then did I realize how incredibly sharp those Tang knives were. If they had struck us instead of the wall, we would have been cleaved in two from head to toe.

I swallowed hard, a bead of cold sweat tracing a path down my forehead. A chill of fear coursed through me. Seeing my fear, the two men let out cold laughter and charged again. Their ferocity made them seem less like living beings and more like demons crawling from hell, a horrifying fusion of Satan and Chiyou!

But of course, I wouldn't truly back down. I drew my gun and fired again with lightning speed, hoping to catch them off guard. However, I had underestimated these fellows. They quickly took cover behind the pillars. At this moment, Dao Zhi Yong and Xia Xiaoling saw an opportunity to capture the scientist and use him as leverage. But the scientist was no easy prey. Sensing something was wrong, he turned and pressed a button behind his throne. A platform quickly ascended, lifting him away. "Goodbye! I won't give up this easily. Let the people I've personally trained have some fun with you! You two, kill them! Chop their flesh into mincemeat, grind their bones into powder, and feed them to my little rat babies!"

"As you command!" the two responded subserviently. While I was distracted, they lunged again. I retreated swiftly, pulling the trigger once more!

But once again, they dodged behind the pillars. Their reflexes were incredible, almost unbelievable. However, Xiao Yuande and Liu Yu Ning were already flanking them from both sides.

Seizing the opportunity, Dao Zhi Yong abandoned his pursuit and moved towards me. The two attackers clearly understood our intentions and swiftly split up, charging at us from either side!

Even separated, the destructive power of each man was astonishing. I was pinned to the ground. Dao Zhi Yong, gun in hand, attempted to threaten his attacker, but his weapon was slapped away with one hand!

Dao Zhi Yong stumbled backward from the force of the blow, his body trembling. While he was adept at investigation, he lacked experience in such armed combat. The shock of the encounter left him stunned.

The attacker seized the moment, landing two punches to my face. I felt as if half my face was contorting, blood vessels bursting, my teeth grinding. I thought I was about to lose them.

Dao Zhi Yong threw himself desperately onto the attacker, trying to pull him off, but the man's strength was overwhelming. He shoved Dao Zhi Yong into a corner with one hand, then delivered another punch to me. I didn't know how much more I could take. The next second, the attacker raised his Tang knife and swung it towards my head!

"No!" Dao Zhi Yong roared in a frenzy. At the same moment, a loud bang echoed from nearby!

A bullet struck the attacker pinning me squarely in the head. He let out a pig-like scream, blood mist erupting. In an instant, his body went limp like a puppet with cut strings and crashed to the ground!

It seemed the spot where Dao Zhi Yong was repelled and where his gun was disarmed was very close. Otherwise, my head would have been gone!

Seeing his comrade felled, the other attacker cursed and unleashed a barrage of slashes with his terrifying Tang knife at Xiao Yuande. Though fearful, Xiao Yuande resisted fiercely, and with Liu Yu Ning providing cover, they managed to hold their ground for the moment.

Knowing that their inaction meant danger for their companions, Dao Zhi Yong and I charged forward recklessly, our guns spitting a barrage of bullets!

However, the attacker suddenly raised an iron shield, completely blocking the incoming gunfire. He then retreated a few steps. Xiao Yuande, drawing his own gun, rejoined the assault, followed by Liu Yu Ning. We unleashed a relentless volley of shots, but he endured it all!

It was evident he was weak in terms of ranged attacks, so we had to keep our distance and avoid getting close.

As we continued to fire, the attacker was forced to shrink back like a turtle, unable to advance. But our bullets soon ran out. Just as we were about to reload, he seemed to seize the opportunity, charging at Xiao Yuande and slamming his shield into him.

With a deafening bang, I watched in disbelief as Xiao Yuande was sent staggering back, his arm clearly injured. Yet, he still stubbornly fought back with his stun baton. And astonishingly, the shield was immune to the electrical shocks!

Our minds went blank. This had to be the scientist's doing!

We could only fire as much as we could, but our bullets were ultimately depleted. In the end, we were forced to dodge and weave around him, intending to wear him down. But our opponent offered no such chance, relentlessly charging with incredible speed. He Xin was gritting her teeth, trying to resist, but her combat prowess needed improvement. With no black technology effective, she was sent sprawling to the ground with a single punch, landing in a more humiliating heap than a dog.

Eventually, everyone else was knocked down, leaving only Liu Yu Ning, Xiao Yuande, and me desperately holding on! But we all knew we were at a severe disadvantage. If this continued, our situation was dire...
