Chapter 38: Chapter 38: I Have a Friend

Nora had just taken out the washed clothes to hang them up and only nodded with a smile when she heard him speak, not saying much else.

She assumed Mr. Sinclair was just comforting him; even if the Sinclair Family investigated such a big company, what could they do?

Without continuing the conversation, the two of them went about their tasks without disturbing each other.

After hanging up the clothes, Nora went back to reading her book.

When she came out again, she saw he was still sitting on the sofa in the same position.

"Mr. Sinclair, aren’t you going to rest?" She stretched lazily, showing a bit more concern on her face.

"Yes, I’ll go rest now." He packed up his computer, stood up, and prepared to go back to his room.

When his hand touched the master bedroom door handle, he paused instinctively, recalling the morning’s argument and the anger of the little woman in the evening, which suddenly made his face feel hot.

He hurriedly slipped into the room, cursing himself internally for being useless.

That night, he slept poorly, his dreams filled with Nora’s shadow. The next morning when he woke up, he didn’t even dare to look up at her across from him.

Quickly solving breakfast, he left.

It was only until he got into the car that he let out a breath he’d been holding.

"President Sinclair, are you feeling unwell today?" Louis looked at his boss’s not-so-good face and asked inquisitively.

After asking, he heard Jasper lightly cough, "It’s nothing, just drive."

Not daring to ask more, he turned his head and stepped on the gas, and the car drove forward.

When they reached the city, more cars appeared, and they got stuck in traffic.

Louis was getting a bit irritable with the traffic jam when Jasper suddenly asked.

"Suppose, I’m just saying suppose, you really dislike a woman, would you feel annoyed if she got too close to someone of the opposite sex?"

He was startled for a moment, and his mouth was faster than his brain: "Are you talking about the boss’s wife?"

Seeing the boss’s face turn gloomy in an instant, he almost wished he could smack himself for speaking unnecessary words.

"No, just something I randomly saw; now that there’s nothing to do, I’m just chatting with you."

"Oh, I see." Louis felt goosebumps rising all over. President Sinclair wanted to chat with him? With that icy-cold face? But he still dutifully analyzed: "Feeling annoyed should mean it’s not dislike but rather like, if it’s someone of the opposite sex, you only feel that way when you’re jealous."

But after he finished speaking, he saw the boss’s face look even worse.

His heart sank suddenly; did he say something wrong?

"Impossible, as far as I know, that person doesn’t like that woman at all. A fake and greedy woman, how could anyone like her."

Jasper forcibly suppressed his displeasure, spouting nonsense. How could he be jealous because he liked Nora?

Denying repeatedly, he comfortably leaned back in the seat, looking at Louis with a gaze that seemed to view him as a fool.

"Yes, yes, yes, President Sinclair is right, how could anyone like that kind of woman."

Louis thought it would be best to agree with the boss, but he didn’t expect such words to make the boss’s face even more displeased.

Ah, he said the wrong thing again.

He obediently shut his mouth and curled up in the front, not daring to make a sound.

When the traffic moved forward, he finally let out a sigh of relief, but before long, the man behind him spoke again.

"I have a friend who got married without falling in love, and after marriage, he found out his wife has other suitors. What do you think he should do to make her... his wife know he’s unhappy?"

Jasper spoke uneasily, his face full of indifference, but his eyes occasionally glanced towards the driver’s seat.

I have a friend?

Louis wiped the sweat from his forehead; did he just uncover some incredible secret?

Swallowing his saliva, he could only brace himself to offer a suggestion.
