Chapter 193: Chapter 193: The Capital Chain Has Broken
Lily sighed, she hadn’t been in touch with her uncle lately and had no idea what he was busy with.
Just as she was about to say something, Aaron suddenly appeared in the studio.
He had stubble all over his face, looking extremely haggard; you could see the fatigue in his eyes.
"Sorry, Nora. I didn’t expect this to happen," he said, his voice still somewhat weak.
He hadn’t been resting well for days and was really out of strength.
He lifted his head, looking weakly over, and seeing him like this made Nora uncomfortable.
She hurriedly invited him to speak in the office, meanwhile asking Lily to pour him a cup of hot water.
"Just what is going on, uncle? You look..." She didn’t directly ask about the orders issue but first opened by asking about his current state.
Aaron gave a bitter smile momentarily, unsure of what to say.
"It’s nothing, just some issues with the company’s cash flow. I’ve been working on gathering funds lately."
"So, that’s why the factory stopped operations?" Lily gasped in shock.
She’s been busy and hadn’t gone home to check things, so naturally, she was unaware of all this.
Problems with cash flow could cause a major upheaval for the company.
Nora was about to offer some reassuring words when Aaron suddenly pulled out a contract.
"I’ve managed to get the money, allowing the factory to operate. We’ll rush your orders out. Once finished, this contract will be voided, and I’ll pay for the breach of contract. I’ve also found a new factory for you to work with."
He didn’t know what happened this time, as the other party withdrew their investment inexplicably.
They were discussing new plans together just yesterday, and the next day, the partnership was canceled.
These past few days, he’s been going around trying to pull in investment partners, yet everyone seems to have shut their doors on him.
He considered it might be Jasper, but then dismissed the idea.
Though he and Jasper dislike each other, Jasper isn’t the type to be that sinister.
"Let’s not talk about this now, but your side..." She seemed concerned.
Aaron smiled softly, "At this point, having a bit of your concern makes all the effort worth it."
It’s as if the years of secret admiration finally bore some fruit.
"You still have the spirit to joke," Lily punched him lightly.
"I’m not joking anymore. If the fundraising fails this time, I fear I’ll lose the company. Nora, you might have to take me in, give me a position just so I can earn a living."
He spread his hands helplessly.
It’s indeed the case—if he can’t find a partner in the next few days, he’ll just have to wait to be acquired. The money from the acquisition can pay off the employees’ debts.
Nora felt a jolt in her heart, not realizing the situation was so grave.
The atmosphere in the room became awkward, and Nora wanted to agree but feared Jasper might disapprove.
Lily instinctively knew this, so she quickly broke the awkward silence.
"Don’t worry, if acquisition doesn’t work out, there’s still my mom and dad. If you’re in trouble, you can ask them for some help first."
She didn’t pressure Nora, deftly diverting the topic.
As for Aaron’s new collaboration proposal, she did not accept it.
"Uncle, focus on sorting out your company first. I’ll find a way for the collaboration," she nodded, expressing gratitude for Aaron’s words.
Just as they were talking, Jasper entered from outside.
Seeing Aaron in the room made his face look much worse. If he hadn’t seen Lily, he might have told Aaron to leave immediately.
