Chapter 214: Chapter 214: Take Her Away
Just when everyone thought today’s press conference could end smoothly, an elderly figure appeared at the entrance of VK.
"This is my daughter’s shop! On what grounds are you not letting me in?" May Lawrence spat furiously, resembling Quentin Ford to some extent.
Nora Northwood had completely disappointed her; the kind motherly image she once had was no longer appreciated by that ungrateful girl. In that case, no one should think they’d have it easy!
The young lady at the entrance was overwhelmed, tears already welling up in her eyes.
"I’m sorry, we have a rule that you need to show an invitation to enter."
The noisy crowd gathered attracted Yvonne Winslow’s attention. She put down her work and hurried over.
"What’s going on?"
Yvonne positioned herself protectively in front of the studio staff.
Her aura immediately subdued May Lawrence’s momentum, but her mouth still viciously spat, "My daughter is the boss here! Be careful, or I’ll have her fire you all!"
Yvonne frowned, her gaze like she was watching a mischievous monkey.
May Lawrence realized that Yvonne was no pushover.
Her eyes darted around, plotting some sort of scheme.
Before long, she let out an exaggerated "ouch" and then sprawled on the ground, shouting at the top of her voice, "How can you get physical?"
This time, it was Yvonne’s turn to be dumbfounded.
Having been in the business world for nearly a decade, what kind of rascals hadn’t she encountered?
Yet it was her first time encountering someone like May Lawrence.
Seeing the other party unmoved, May squeezed out a few more tears, "Poor me, just an old lady! You’re all ganging up on me!"
Her vivid performance left the crowd bewildered; those unaware of the truth might really think she had been pushed down.
Nobody dared to believe this woman could be Nora Northwood’s parent.
After all, everyone knew Nora’s gentleness and intelligence; they couldn’t believe someone so brash and unreasonable could have raised such an outstanding daughter.
Seeing the crowd grow larger, Yvonne promptly called the security.
"Take her to the security room."
May resisted and wouldn’t let go, her hands clawing at the ground as she cursed, "How dare you treat me like this! Just wait until I see my daughter, you’ll be screwed!"
Her words were so filthy that even the onlookers felt embarrassed for her.
In the end, it took two security guards to carry her away.
As it neared noon, people began to trickle out from the site.
Nora stood in the gradually emptying center of the venue, filled with mixed emotions.
She could hardly believe she had achieved such a feat today.
Jasper Sinclair noticed most of the crowd had dispersed and gradually approached her.
The sight of his tall, straight figure inexplicably comforted Nora.
When Jasper stopped in front of her, she blurted out, "Jasper, pinch me."
Jasper obliged, gently pinching her chubby cheek, resisting the urge for a second pinch, and then told her, "You’re not dreaming."
"I did it! I really did it!"
Just as Nora was about to jump for joy, Yvonne brought less than favorable news.
"A woman claiming to be your relative caused a scene at the entrance. I’ve already had someone take her to the security room."
As Yvonne finished speaking, Jasper and Nora exchanged a glance.
Their reactions left Yvonne stunned, "Could she... really be your family?"
"Maybe, probably." Nora frowned, knowing they had signed a contract last time. How could that family have the audacity?
