Chapter 238: Chapter 238: Police Investigation
The sky turned pale.
On the soft large bed, Nora Northwood’s eyelashes fluttered, and her almond eyes opened.
Her small, plain face bore a hint of daze as the pain from the hangover swept over her.
She glanced at the man sleeping next to her, fragments of memory flooding her mind.
Immediately, her rosy lips parted slightly, annoyed as she thought: Did I say something I shouldn’t have?
Nora picked up her phone to check the time; it was not yet six o’clock. The first message on WeChat was from Annie.
"Your man seems upset."
Nora’s lips twitched, and she quietly sneaked out of the bedroom.
She stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room to catch some air, but soon felt the chill of the morning was too strong and retreated into the kitchen.
Since VK Studio had been established, she seldom made breakfast for Jasper Sinclair anymore.
Nora took a tour inside the refrigerator and finally retrieved a few eggs and fresh vegetables.
After some tinkering, the ingredients were neatly arranged on the dining table.
She laid out a sheet of cling film and arranged slices of bread, lettuce, fried eggs... neatly.
Soon, several sandwiches with different flavors were prepared.
"I’m off to work, remember to eat breakfast." Nora left a sticky note and headed out.
By the time Jasper Sinclair woke up, she was already at the studio, and thus, the matter of drinking would have to wait until later.
...
VK, at the reception desk.
Nora fiddled with the items on the shelf, glass bottles of various sizes sparkling subtly in the morning sun.
There were essential oils, plant extracts, fragrance essences, and finished incense products.
Soon, others gradually arrived at the studio.
Annie’s first words at work were to ask Nora, "Did President Sinclair scold you last night?"
Her words were ambiguous, making Nora’s ears turn red.
"I fell asleep as soon as I got home last night, my head was dizzy."
Just as Annie was about to continue gossiping, Lily Sloan came over with a stack of documents, "Ladies, the police investigation has results."
Nora was relieved and quickly approached, "Did they find the person?"
"Sylvia Lane, forty-six years old, a habitual thief with a record, has already left Stanton City." Lily Sloan briefly explained the investigation results.
"But, nothing else was lost from our studio," said Nora.
If there had been a valuable item missing, this theft case might have been established.
Unfortunately, only an incense bottle was lost... and it’s not a standard product.
"Should we keep investigating?"
Nora contemplated for a moment, "Forget it, let’s stop here."
She thought that even if they continued the investigation, they might not achieve a better outcome, so it was better not to waste time.
After discussing the matter, everyone returned to their work.
Nora and Megan Underwood went into the fragrance lab one after the other, uniformly putting on sterile lab coats.
"Nora, have the other two fragrance products in collaboration with Rhea shown any progress?" Megan Underwood asked.
"I’ve made a few fragrance test papers but haven’t finalized them." She answered while putting on disposable gloves.
For the entire morning that followed, the two remained at the scenting station.
Perhaps due to a shift in her mood, Nora constantly made adjustments based on the original recipe.
Her efforts caught Megan Underwood’s attention, "Nora, you’re one of the rare people I’ve met who is extremely sensitive to scents."
Nora smiled modestly, "Maybe it’s the experience accumulated from running a flower shop in past years; there’s still much I need to learn from Megan Underwood."
