Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Unbelievably Stupid

After leaving the banquet, she and Lily returned the outfits and went straight home.

Coincidentally, they bumped into Jasper Sinclair, who had also just returned, as they reached the neighborhood.

She glanced at Jasper Sinclair’s suit, which didn’t look like the one she saw at the venue, and she suddenly breathed a sigh of relief.

"Did you go to a banquet tonight?" He took the initiative to break the silence.

Just one sentence made Nora Northwood’s heart, which had just relaxed, tense up again. She looked over suspiciously, wondering how Mr. Sinclair knew.

Jasper Sinclair smiled wryly and tapped her face.

"Usually, you only wear this kind of makeup when attending a banquet, so I guessed it."

Nora awkwardly nodded, realizing she was overthinking it.

It makes sense, after all, if it were President Sinclair, he’d have to be crazy to squeeze himself into this kind of neighborhood.

But thinking of the events of the day, she still kept a cold face and didn’t speak.

Just as he was about to say something, his phone suddenly rang. Seeing that it was Grandma’s call, he quickly answered, "What’s up, Grandma?"

"You little rascal, can’t I call you unless there’s something important?" Grandma Sinclair sounded a bit displeased on the other end.

"Of course not, but it’s so late, you should be sleeping." Jasper quickly changed the subject.

"Indeed, it’s time to sleep, where’s my granddaughter-in-law?" She ignored Jasper and instead asked about Nora.

Jasper raised the phone indicating for Nora to take the call.

"Grandma." Her tone became sweet and endearing when she spoke to Grandma.

"Good girl, has Jasper been bullying you?" Upon hearing her granddaughter-in-law’s voice, Grandma Sinclair’s tone instantly softened.

Nora hesitated for a moment but thought it wouldn’t be appropriate to complain in front of someone else’s grandmother. She shook her head and said, "No, Mr. Sinclair treats me very well."

Meanwhile, Jasper touched his nose awkwardly.

"That’s good, I’ll come to see you in a few days." Grandma Sinclair stated the main point of her call, "I’ll let that rascal know when the time comes."

Just as she finished speaking, the nurse on the other end reminded Grandma Sinclair that it was time to rest.

"Alright, I’ll wait for Grandma at home. I’ll cook whatever you want to eat then."

Only then was Grandma Sinclair satisfied, nodding as she hung up the phone.

Raina Sinclair watched Grandma with a puzzled face: "Mom, what are you so happy about, could it be that rascal has finally come to his senses?"

Grandma Sinclair looked disdainful, "How could that be, he’s still as foolish as ever. When we go over this time, we’d better give those two kids some help, it seems they’re not uninterested, so what’s the point of holding back."

She pouted, wondering why young people today were more rigid than those of her time.

Raina looked at her mischievous-like mother with some headache, helplessly smiling as she prepared the bed to let the old lady rest quickly.

After hanging up the phone, Jasper looked at the woman beside him with a complicated expression.

Was she really trying to be good to Grandma, or was it because...

"What’s the matter? You’ve been staring at me." Nora frowned, somewhat displeased; this man really was hard to figure out.

Jasper withdrew his gaze, his expression turning cold again, "Nothing."

The two entered the house one after the other.

"I’m sorry for what I said at the hospital this morning, I didn’t mean it." He said just before returning to his room.

Nora simply paused but clearly had no intention of responding to him, and she continued into her room.

A couple of days later, Grandma called him early, saying she would be coming over today.

Because the old lady had undergone surgery, Nora spent a long time researching to decide what to cook for her.
