Chapter 132: Chapter 132: Touching on Sensitive Topics
When Jasper Sinclair walked in with Nora Northwood, the eyes of everyone around them settled on the pair.
The Sinclair Family’s collateral relatives were more or less fine, as most of them relied on the Sinclairs for their livelihood; they only needed to show up at the family banquet once a month to make an appearance.
But the second branch of the family didn’t look too pleased to see Jasper.
And now they disliked Nora even more upon seeing her.
"Oh dear, is this the niece-in-law I’ve never met? Come over here and let your aunt have a look."
Lynn Woodward, the second aunt, affectionately stepped forward to grab her hand, but in the next second, Jasper blocked her.
"If Second Aunt is idle, I can make things a bit more difficult for the Woodward Family."
He looked over coldly.
He didn’t even need to think to know what kind of schemes this family was plotting, especially the scheming second aunt.
Lynn’s face stiffened, and she glared at her, while Leon Sinclair remained silent with his head down, lost in thought.
Meanwhile, Grandma Sinclair was still upstairs, with Raina Sinclair keeping her company.
The people downstairs were clearly each scheming their own schemes.
After a moment of silence, Lynn was still unwilling to give up and leaned over to nosily ask, "I wonder which school my niece-in-law graduated from? My nephew is quite impressive, having graduated from Crestwood University’s finance department, and he even studied abroad later. He’s quite the scholar; surely the niece-in-law is too."
She spoke pleasantly, but it was actually to deliberately humiliate Nora.
Before coming, she had investigated this woman thoroughly, knowing her background was quite average and her university education was only at night school.
The fact that even Grandma Sinclair looked up to this kind of status really showed she had gone senile.
Nora was momentarily at a loss for how to respond, furrowing her brow in thought for a long time.
Although Jasper’s relationship with the second branch wasn’t good, as a new wife, she couldn’t be too excessive.
After a while, as she frowned and was about to speak, Jasper spoke up for her in retort.
"Second Aunt really loves to meddle. I remember Cousin also went to Crestwood University, only..."
"Jasper Sinclair!"
Lynn finally understood what it meant to shoot oneself in the foot.
Years ago, when Jenson was young, he was framed and got involved with a girl. The incident blew up, and the girl accused him of coercion, leading to Crestwood University expelling Jenson.
Because of this, Jenson went abroad for a long time.
This guy sure knows how to hit you where it hurts!
At this moment, she was seething, but the man in front of her was Jasper Sinclair, and she reminded herself to hold back.
"Come on, calm down for a bit," Leon Sinclair said irritably.
But his dark eyes were fixed on Nora and Jasper.
She didn’t know if it was just her imagination, but that gaze seemed to hold a mix of unwillingness and hatred.
It seems that the Sinclair Family’s secrets are still many.
After sitting a while longer, Raina Sinclair helped Grandma Sinclair down from upstairs.
Nora was momentarily taken aback when she saw Grandma. Don’t let her usual amiable and kind appearance fool you.
Now, facing the rest of the Sinclair Family, her subtle authority made even Nora feel intimidated.
No wonder she’s the matriarch of such a large family; her aura commands serious respect.
When Grandma Sinclair saw Nora had arrived, she gave her a gentle smile, but when she turned to face everyone else, the smile disappeared.
"Linden, prepare to serve the meal." When she finished, the servants in the villa began to move.
All members of the Sinclair Family also took their seats.
Though the dining room wasn’t small, with so many people present, it felt cramped and somewhat suffocating.
