Chapter 40: The Seraphim

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: The Seraphim

With Orion Winslow’s approval, the girl stepped forward slowly and nodded slightly at the two of them.

At the same time, the three activated their thoughts, awakening the sanctum keys hidden deep within their consciousness.

In an instant, three uniquely-shaped keys emerged from their brows, rotating and fitting perfectly into a single ancient token in the air.

The ground suddenly trembled violently, and an emerald green light gate slowly revealed itself from the void.

The floating token then disintegrated into three streams of light, which re-entered their brows.

At this moment—

Aster Grant’s forehead revealed a golden sun wheel mark, Crystal Winslow’s brow showed a flowing crescent moon pattern, and Laney’s forehead brightened with a star emblem.

Then, the three of them simultaneously stepped into the portal radiating mysterious light.

Their figures were gradually swallowed by the green light; as the last person entered, the Emerald Portal slowly closed...

A dazzling pillar of light shot straight into the heavens!

At the same moment.

The Angel Race’s base, Aeridor Peak.

A blond angel suddenly opened his eyes, a playful smile tugging at his lips:

"The Elven Race’s sanctum has been opened? Interesting!"

With a gentle flutter of his wings, he appeared in the center of the palace instantly.

The few elders guarding the place immediately knelt on one knee:

"Greetings, Clan Scion!"

Michael Miller waved his hand casually.

"I’m going out for a while, make sure you know what to tell my father."

The elders exchanged glances, one mustering the courage to advise:

"Clan Scion, you just stepped into the Extraordinary Realm, if you encounter danger on your way out..."

"I can handle my own safety."

Michael interrupted impatiently.

"With such a big event like the opening of the Elven Sanctum, how can I not join in the fun?"

Though the Elven Race was once a major clan akin to the Angel Race, they chose to be close to humans, even setting the keys to their sanctum so only humans could acquire them.

But...

The Angel Race has its ways of entering the Elven sanctum, only frustrated by being unable to locate it.

Now that they’ve found it, Michael will not miss this opportunity!

And...

As far as he knows, during that great calamity, the Elf Queen seemed to pay a huge price to keep her daughter alive!

The Elf Queen’s daughter...

A smirk appeared on Michael’s lips!

Regaining his composure, he changed the subject:

"How are things on the Seraphim side? Any leads on that girl?"

"To report to the Clan Scion," an elder bowed and said, "those stubborn old folks refuse to speak."

"But back then we already broke her wings; even if she’s been sent away, she won’t pose any threat."

Michael nodded in satisfaction.

As long as the Seraph royalty’s bloodline cannot grow, his father’s position as clan leader remains secure.

"I’m leaving, remember—"

Michael spread his wings and said coldly, "Do not tell my father about this!"

As Michael’s figure vanished into the sky, the elders exchanged glances.

"Should we really not report to the clan leader?"

"No worries, someone will protect the Clan Scion in secret."

"But isn’t the Elven Sanctum restricted to Commander Level and above?"

An elder sneered, "Do you think those primitive beings and a few humans in the Awakening Stage can harm the Clan Scion?"

"Indeed. Let’s focus on watching the Seraphim prisoners."

Meanwhile, in the palace dungeon.

A group of shabbily dressed angels sat together, in the center was a beautiful but exhausted female angel.

"Summer Gardner," an old man whispered, "where did you send Lazuli? The Seraph people didn’t find out, did they?"

The woman known as Summer Gardner shook her head slowly, "They... will never find Lazuli."

"She should be able to live peacefully!"

...

As Aster Grant and the others entered the sanctum, the scene before them suddenly changed.

They found themselves in the middle of a brutal battlefield!

On the scorched ground, remnants of shattered buildings and bodies were scattered everywhere, the air thick with the stench of blood and demonic qi.

And just ahead, less than a hundred meters away, an alarming scene was unfolding...

Five massive Demon Clan members surrounded, wildly attacking a small figure in the center.

It was a Cat Clan girl!

She was covered in blood, her snow-white fur stained crimson, and her left arm hung uselessly, evidently broken.

Yet she bit her teeth hard, clutching a half-broken dagger in her right hand, resolute in her emerald slitted eyes.

"Get lost... you filthy demons!"

The Cat Clan girl roared, fiercely swinging her blade at the nearest wolf-shaped demon.

The blade marked a blood trail on the demon’s chest, angering it.

With a sneer, the wolf demon swung its claws wrapped in the stench, fiercely swiping down!

"Lazuli, save her!"

Without hesitation, Aster Grant issued an order!

"Swish—"

Silverwing abruptly spread in the void, Lazuli’s figure darting across the battlefield like lightning.

Her speed was at its peak, leaving only a trail of afterimages in the air.

"Judgment!"

Lazuli swung her right hand, the sword blade sweeping across...

"Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!"

Three gruesome demon heads shot into the sky!

The remaining two demons hadn’t even reacted before Lazuli appeared behind them.

With a flash of silver light, their bodies were instantly sliced into several pieces!

The battlefield fell into abrupt silence.

The Cat Clan girl stood there, stunned, staring at the angel who suddenly appeared.

"You... You are..."

Her words were not finished before her body, due to excessive blood loss, collapsed forward.

Lazuli hurried forward, catching her.

Just then, Aster Grant and Crystal Winslow approached.

Seeing the girl’s cat ears and tail, Aster Grant felt a bit surprised.

So he checked her information.

[Beastkin (Cat Clan)]

[Level: Awakening Tier Seven]

[Talent: Excellent Four Stars]

[Skills: Beastification...]

Seeing Aster Grant and Crystal Winslow’s surprised expressions, Laney explained:

"These are Beastkin, they are quite common in our country!"

"Judging by her features, she should be Cat Clan!"

"This race is relatively weak!"

Aster Grant nodded and turned his gaze to the two of them.

"Now that we’ve just entered the sanctum, should we wait for her to wake up and understand the sanctum better before taking action?"

Crystal Winslow and Laney both nodded in agreement at this suggestion.

After all, the information received in their minds only told them how to enter the sanctum.

It didn’t tell them how to act within the sanctum.

Thus, having someone familiar with the sanctum is crucial!

Aster Grant’s gaze fell upon the unconscious Beastkin, surveying the area.

It’s not difficult to guess what happened here.

A few Awakened Tier Nine demons broke in here, and these low-tier awakened Cat Beastmen had no chance against the five Awakened Tier Nine demons.

Crystal Winslow took out a light green potion from her arms and carefully fed it to the Cat Clan girl.

The potion passed through her throat, slightly restoring her pale complexion.

She opened her eyes weakly, and upon recognizing her savior, her pupils contracted, exclaiming:

"Prophet!"
