Chapter 5 No Interference

The next day, at Sheng Shi Group.

Early in the morning, Sheng Chenjin had instructed his assistant to contact Shi Xinxi for a collaboration discussion.

The collaboration between the two elders had already been settled; the remaining matters were merely details to be handled by their respective teams.

What Sheng Chenjin was most concerned about were the three children.

The information his assistant had provided him yesterday indicated that Shi Xinxi was once a child of the Su family, and the date of her car accident coincided with the date the other girl had fled.

Sheng Chenjin sat in the conference room, watching Shi Xinxi and her team professionally handle various issues, his gaze growing increasingly dark.

Could she be connected to the girl who had escaped back then?

"Mr. Sheng, what do you think?"

Shi Xinxi suddenly spoke, facing Sheng Chenjin.

Sheng Chenjin turned his head and saw the cold and composed Shi Xinxi.

"Whatever you say."

Shi Xinxi had just mentioned that due to the increase in raw material prices, the previous price needed to be adjusted upward by two percentage points.

Sheng Chenjin actually agreed!

"As long as Miss Shi personally oversees this project, any conditions can be met."

Sheng Chenjin, who was decisive and ruthless in the business world, actually uttered such words!

All the senior executives present were stunned, staring at Sheng Chenjin with wide eyes.

Had the CEO not woken up properly today?

Shi Xinxi herself was taken aback.

This project was the first one her company had undertaken since its return, and she naturally intended to monitor it closely. However, for this request to come from Sheng Chenjin's lips felt somewhat peculiar.

"Okay."

Shi Xinxi agreed immediately, lowered her head, signed her name on the contract, and then handed it to Sheng Chenjin.

Sheng Chenjin took it and signed his name directly, officially commencing the collaboration between the two families.

"Miss Shi, would you like to have dinner together?"

Sheng Chenjin closed the file and squinted at Shi Xinxi.

Shi Xinxi raised an eyebrow.

A dinner together wasn't an unreasonable request.

"Certainly, I'll host then, Mr. Sheng."

She stood up, her well-fitted dark gold and black qipao making her appear exceptionally elegant. Combined with the subtle smile on her lips, she exuded an irresistible charm that captivated everyone's attention.

They left the conference room together, each accompanied by an assistant.

While waiting for the elevator, Shi Xinxi's phone rang. She glanced at it and saw it was Shi Xiaoyu.

The polite smile on her lips instantly softened, and she answered the call with a flick of her finger.

"Darling, what's wrong?"

She asked in a low voice.

Sheng Chenjin, standing beside her, instinctively turned his head upon hearing this, his gaze locking onto Shi Xinxi.

Were the children calling?

Those identical children?

"I won't be home for dinner, I have some matters to attend to..."

The children were clearly waiting for Shi Xinxi to come home for dinner. Sheng Chenjin's eyes flickered, and he spoke up.

"Miss Shi, I don't mind if you bring the children along for dinner."

Shi Xinxi frowned.

Who brings children to a business dinner?

She was about to refuse.

However, the three children on the other end of the phone clearly heard Sheng Chenjin's voice and immediately became excited: "Mom, quickly give us the address, and I'll have Assistant Sister send us over right away."

It wasn't just Shi Xiaoyu, but also Shi Xiaojie.

Even the usually gentle Shi Xiaojie was surprised: "Mom's with a man?"

"Is he a candidate for a new dad?"

"Let's go grab a free meal, hurry!"

Shi Xinxi's face turned dark.

These three brats were practically bouncing with excitement. Refusing now would be rather inappropriate.

"Let them come."

Hearing the voices of the three children, Sheng Chenjin's heart was filled with complex emotions.

A new dad?

Did the three children not have a father?

Had Shi Xinxi been searching for a father for the children all these years?

How much hardship had they endured all these years?

"I'm sorry for causing you trouble."

Shi Xinxi sent the address to Shi Xiaoyu, then looked apologetically at Sheng Chenjin.

Her voice was calm, and she didn't explain what the children had said, maintaining a composed demeanor.

"It's not trouble."

He was already struggling to find an excuse to approach these children, so how could he possibly find it troublesome?

The group proceeded to the hotel. The three children, escorted by an assistant, also arrived. The three darlings pushed open the private room door and walked straight in.

"Mommy!"

All three rushed towards Shi Xinxi.

Shi Xinxi, who had been calmly strategizing in the conference room just moments ago, curved her lips upwards, revealing a gentle smile.

"Say hello to Uncle Sheng."

The three children looked curiously at Sheng Chenjin.

Faced with those three pairs of clear, bright eyes, Sheng Chenjin's heart skipped a beat uncontrollably.

"Hello, Uncle Sheng."

The three greeted him in unison, their smiles innocent.

Sheng Chenjin nodded calmly, his expression serene.

"Hello."

"Are you hungry? Let's eat first."

Sheng Chenjin, who usually disliked children, invited them to eat. The three children cheered and sat obediently around Shi Xinxi. They all began to eat in unison.

Despite their young age, their movements were elegant and their etiquette impeccable.

They were simply perfect.

The more Sheng Chenjin watched, the more he felt that these three children were indeed of Sheng family blood.

The thought that these three children would call him "Uncle" in unison filled his heart with an immeasurable sense of satisfaction.

"Ouch."

Just as he was looking at them with increasing satisfaction, he felt a sharp pain in his eyes.

Accompanying the pain, his vision gradually darkened.

He moved, and the bowl and chopsticks in front of him fell to the floor.

He then collapsed to the ground uncontrollably.

No one present had anticipated this sudden turn of events.

No one expected this heir apparent to suffer such a sudden relapse.

His assistant quickly ran over to help Sheng Chenjin up.

"President!"

An eye relapse was not something that could be treated with medication like a heart condition.

It was far more fatal than any heart ailment, and the assistant was flustered, unsure of what to do.

He had no time to attend to Shi Xinxi and her three children.

The bodyguards stationed outside quickly entered the private room and whispered a few words into the assistant's ear.

Their gazes also briefly swept over the mother and children, a flicker of surprise in their eyes, but they dared not stare any longer.

By this time, the assistant had calmed down, and the accompanying doctor had already begun treatment.

The unusually calm quartet caught the assistant's attention.

The assistant pushed up his glasses, his eyes still filled with surprise.

It would be understandable if Miss Shi, who was accustomed to such situations, remained unfazed, but even the three children, who were only kindergarten age, did not move an inch.

If the President's guess was correct and these three children were indeed of the Sheng family, then they would not disappoint Old Master Sheng.

The assistant walked over; this matter needed to be handled, at least to ensure secrecy.

While the assistant was contemplating, Shi Xinxi was also observing every move of the Sheng family, including the gazes of those present that seemed to measure them and the expressions of surprise and confusion.

Shi Xinxi was long accustomed to this.

"Mommy, should we consider saving Uncle Sheng?" The eldest, Shi Xiaoxian, looked like a little adult, thoughtfully considering for his mother.

"Mommy, let's not consider it, let's just save him." The third child, Shi Xiaoyu, felt that this new dad seemed a bit weak, and his brow furrowed slightly.

"Mm-hmm, I agree too," the second child, Shi Xiaojie, nodded in agreement. After all, he was a capable new dad, and this time, Mommy could make a sacrifice.

But Shi Xinxi remained a detached observer. After all, things were different now; she no longer needed to spend a great deal of time navigating the complex world of the wealthy elite.

She didn't need to.

But...

She looked around at her children strangely.

They hadn't interfered with her decisions for a long time.
