Chapter 39 Targeted

Sheng Chenjin’s post sent the internet into an even greater frenzy.

There were three waves of online reactions.

The first wave consisted of Yang Xi’s fans, expressing their immense gratitude that Yang Xi had encountered Shi Xin Xin.

The second wave marveled at Shi Xin Xin’s exceptional medical skills. Shi Xin Xin’s fans took it upon themselves to properly address everyone who had previously doubted her.

The third wave comprised those who followed Sheng Chenjin. The frequent contact between this man, who was known for being indifferent to women, and Shi Xin Xin led to endless speculation.

What if they were simply friends in a professional capacity? The two families had a long-standing good relationship.

Sheng Chenjin’s Weibo post directly caused the rumors surrounding Shi Xin Xin and Sheng Chenjin to resurface and become popular again.

Seeing this, Sheng Chenjin’s anger finally subsided.

He offered no explanation, simply closing his phone, as if what others said had nothing to do with him.

Bai Feng: Don’t tell me you didn’t do it on purpose.

Shi Xin Xin emerged from the room. Yang Xi had already been settled.

She immediately reported her safety in the variety show group chat.

Shi Xin Xin: Yang Xi is safe and sound, no need to worry. She just needs to take a break now.

Yin Xue: Thank you for your hard work.

Fang Qi: Take a break? We’re all on break. I’m angry and I’m not saying why.

Shi Xin Xin frowned as she read Fang Qi’s message. She guessed that the news had already spread, and Fang Qi wouldn’t get any results even if he demanded an explanation from the resort.

Shi Xin Xin: Director Fang, no need to look for the resort. This matter has little to do with the resort.

Shi Xin Xin: Cobras do not appear in environments like resorts. I will tell you the results once I understand everything clearly. There’s no need to worry.

Shi Xin Xin: Someone might want to make me unhappy. The snake was put in the wrong room…

Gu Lin: Sister Xin, don’t worry. Someone is handling the online situation for you.

The people in the group chat were all comforting her, urging her to focus on resolving the matter.

Shi Xin Xin immediately went to Weibo and found that the public sentiment had shifted again.

Without checking the reason, she immediately posted on Weibo.

Shi Xin Xin: Sister Yang is safe and resting. Yang’s fans need not worry.

Disregarding any feedback, she turned off her phone and lay down tiredly on a chair outside the door.

“She’s resting. Don’t mind me. I’ll rest for a bit, and then I need to observe her condition.”

“Yue Yue, you go back first. Sheng Chenjin, you and Bai Feng should also go rest.”

Shi Xin Xin waved her hand and leaned back onto the chair, exhausted. The chair was soft, and she fell asleep shortly after.

Sheng Chenjin glanced at the time. It was already three in the morning.

“You can go back.”

Bai Feng was about to say something else, but he glanced at Shi Xin Xin and understood.

He tugged at Yang Yue’s sleeve and pulled her away.

“Let’s not be a third wheel.”

Yang Yue shook off Bai Feng’s hand and prepared to go back to stay by Shi Xin Xin’s side.

“Can’t you see it? Whether Miss Shi’s three children resemble President Sheng, you should know.”

Yang Yue suddenly realized something and looked shocked.

But she quickly recovered.

“That’s not okay either. Miss Shi has no intention of reconciling with President Sheng.”

“You can’t force Miss Shi to do things she doesn’t want to do.”

Yang Yue questioned, “Miss Shi hasn’t even told me, so she must not intend to have anything with President Sheng.”

“Oh, how can we possibly manage this? Are you really going to let Miss Shi shoulder the education and upbringing of three children all by herself, struggling to cope?”

Yang Yue was speechless. She truly couldn’t bear it.

Bai Feng curved his lips. It seemed she had been persuaded.

Yang Yue lost this conversation.

Sheng Chenjin sat next to Shi Xin Xin, looking at her slightly tired face and furrowed brow. He sighed inwardly.

Seeing Shi Xin Xin’s head nodding, about to hit the armrest of the chair, Sheng Chenjin quickly supported her head and gently placed it on his shoulder.

Shi Xin Xin was almost woken up. She nuzzled against his shoulder, found a comfortable position, and unconsciously grabbed something.

She hugged Sheng Chenjin’s arm.

Sheng Chenjin’s body stiffened; he was somewhat unaccustomed to it.

He dared not turn his head. He took out his phone with his free left hand and, with a click, took a picture of himself and half of her. He captured Shi Xin Xin’s sleeping face.

He painstakingly sent messages with his left hand, finding the WeChat accounts of the three little ones that he had secretly added earlier.

Jin: Little Qian, Little Jie, Little Yu, your mommy is asleep and doesn’t need to worry. She’s just a bit tired from being too busy.

Little Cutie: Thank you, Uncle Sheng. We’re at ease knowing mommy is with you.

Little Cutie: It’s just that mommy doesn’t want anything with you… Come on, Uncle Sheng, you can do it!

Jin: Okay, I will work hard.

Sheng Chenjin smiled and put away his phone. He originally intended to carry Shi Xin Xin to her room to sleep, but he was afraid that he might accidentally wake her and she would throw a tantrum later.

Looking at Shi Xin Xin’s peaceful sleeping face, he also closed his eyes to rest for a moment, but soon fell into a deep sleep.

Their shallow breaths mingled, creating a visually pleasing and harmonious scene.

Shi Xin Xin woke up at six o’clock. She jolted, looking at the hand holding Sheng Chenjin and her head leaning on his shoulder. She sprang up instantly.

Discovering that Sheng Chenjin was still asleep, she didn’t disturb him. She moved lightly and got up from his half-encompassing embrace.

She took his jacket, which was draped over her, and placed it back on him.

She then turned and went into the room to check on Yang Xi’s injuries. Finding nothing amiss, she leaned by Yang Xi’s side for a short nap.

In the morning, Yang Xi woke up. Shi Xin Xin told her everything she needed to know and instructed her to rest comfortably there.

Once her new house was ready, she would move her there. Yang Xi would not be able to get out of bed for some time.

Sheng Chenjin had Bai Feng prepare a meal for Yang Xi and invited Shi Xin Xin to eat with him.

“Sheng Chenjin, have any troubles found you recently?”

Shi Xin Xin felt like her mind was about to explode with everything pent up inside.

“Yes, someone heard that the pharmaceutical technology had been found and kept pestering me for it.”

“My people beat them up. I said it wasn’t with me, but I could send him to them.”

“Then he, as he wished, went to the national organization.”

Shi Xin Xin chuckled, “You’re quite amusing.”

Her laughter faded as she continued.

“So, they didn’t harm you, and shifted their target to me.”

“After all, it’s no secret that I’m on a variety show, and it can certainly be seen online.”

Shi Xin Xin raised an eyebrow.

“If I’m not mistaken, those people will be arriving in the country soon.”

“It seems such malicious methods are their usual style.”

“This little girl took a blow for me. Those people were really careless, putting the cobra in the wrong place. And even knowing that I wouldn’t be harmed by a cobra, they still used such a method.”

Shi Xin Xin pointed to the room where Yang Xi was resting.

“We’ve been targeted. Is it possible that they just wanted you to know they’ve arrived?”

Sheng Chenjin raised his eyes, voicing his alternative speculation.
