"Are you trying to tie me down with marriage for a lifetime?"
Shi Xinxin clenched her fists, her fingernails digging into her palms.
"We met through a blind date. I don't think it's a bad thing. At least, if we're together, I can take good care of you and also help your family," Sheng Chenjin explained.
Shi Xinxin was silent for a long while before finally speaking, "Please don't bring this up again!"
"Why?"
Sheng Chenjin didn't understand.
"Because I don't like you," Shi Xinxin looked at him, her eyes full of determination. "My feelings for you are purely platonic."
Platonic feelings...
Sheng Chenjin's heart ached fiercely, but he maintained a calm demeanor, as if he hadn't taken her words to heart.
"I know."
"So, I don't need your help."
Shi Xinxin didn't want to continue the conversation, fearing she would break down and cry.
She was afraid Sheng Chenjin would see through her facade, see through her true feelings...
"You're a good girl, and I wish you happiness," Sheng Chenjin sighed softly.
"Thank you, but I don't deserve it."
Shi Xinxin bit her lip, stubbornly holding back tears.
Sheng Chenjin pursed his lips, his deep pupils contracting, a complex expression flashing in his eyes. In the end, he said nothing and turned to leave.
Watching his receding back, Shi Xinxin felt a sharp pain in her chest, making it difficult to breathe.
She clutched her chest, tears streaming down her cheeks, soaking her clothes.
"Xinxin, why are you crying?" Mother Shi saw this and quickly handed her a tissue to wipe her tears.
"No..." Shi Xinxin took the tissue, wiped away her tears, and forced a smile. "Mommy, I'm hungry. Let's go out to eat."
Mother Shi looked at her pale face, worried but helpless. "Alright, let's go out to eat."
"Okay," Shi Xinxin nodded.
Mother Shi watched her leave, a deep sadness in her eyes...
After leaving the hospital, Shi Xinxin hailed a taxi and went to Sheng Corporation.
As soon as she entered the lobby, the receptionist saw her and quickly stood up, respectfully calling out, "Greetings, Madam President."
"Is Sheng Chenjin in his office?" Shi Xinxin asked.
The receptionist replied, "The President is in a meeting."
"Okay," Shi Xinxin said, turning towards the elevators.
As Shi Xinxin entered Sheng Corporation, all the employees bowed to her, saying, "Greetings, Madam President."
Madam President of Sheng Corporation?
Sheng Chenjin was married?
She hadn't received any news about it at all.
Shi Xinxin's eyes filled with shock.
Her steps faltered, and she turned around, casting a cold, sharp gaze at the people around her.
The surrounding staff lowered their heads, daring not to look at her or speak.
Shi Xinxin felt a wave of desolation.
"Ding dong."
The elevator arrived. She stepped in, pressed the button for the top floor, and closed her eyes.
"Ding dong, ding dong, ding dong."
Sheng Chenjin was in a meeting when suddenly, the door to the conference room was knocked.
He frowned, "Come in."
The secretary opened the door, glanced at him, and then shifted her gaze to Qiao Xiya sitting beside him.
Qiao Xiya winked at her, gave a playful smile, then stood up and walked to Sheng Chenjin's desk. "Chairman Sheng, we should be going now."
Sheng Chenjin looked at Qiao Xiya, his expression shifting slightly before quickly returning to normal.
"You go ahead, I'll be there shortly."
"Okay, then I won't keep you company."
Qiao Xiya smiled sweetly and turned to leave.
"Why is Qiao Xiya here?" Sheng Chenjin asked with a hint of confusion as he watched her leave.
"I don't know. I just went to buy some fruit and happened to run into her, so we came together. She's probably here to visit you," Shi Xinxin said.
Sheng Chenjin raised an eyebrow. "Then I'll go."
"Okay, go ahead."
Sheng Chenjin looked at her, his eyes filled with deep affection. He wanted to say something to her, but hesitated.
Only after Sheng Chenjin left did the people in the conference room breathe a sigh of relief.
"Don't you think the President's wife is beautiful, gentle, kind, and has a good temper? Why would the President give up such an excellent wife?"
"Who knows..."
"But look at Miss Qiao, even though she's young, you can tell she's definitely beautiful from her appearance."
"Yes, the President's taste wouldn't be bad."
...
The meeting ended, and everyone left, leaving only Shi Xinxin and Qiao Xiya.
"Sister Xinxin, I'm so sorry today. I've made you see things you shouldn't have," Qiao Xiya walked up to Shi Xinxin, hooked her arm, and said with a giggle.
Shi Xinxin's expression remained neutral. She glanced indifferently at the hand Qiao Xiya had linked with hers, but did not pull away.
Seeing that Shi Xinxin didn't refuse, Qiao Xiya grew even happier, a smug smile forming on her lips.
"Sister Xinxin, are you free tonight? Let's have dinner together."
Shi Xinxin looked up, her gaze indifferent.
She didn't know what else she could say. Perhaps, she was just too lonely being by herself.
"Alright."
"Then I'll wait for you."
After agreeing on a meeting place, they went their separate ways.
Qiao Xiya watched Shi Xinxin's retreating back, a triumphant arc to her lips.
She took out her phone and dialed a number.
A man's voice came from the other end.
"Hello."
Hearing his voice, Qiao Xiya's heart suddenly quickened. She suppressed her inner panic and spoke with a hint of coquettishness.
"Brother Jin, I have a gift for you."
"What is it?" the man's lazy voice held a trace of indulgence.
"I miss you."
"Be good. Wait for Brother Jin to finish his business here, and I'll fly back immediately."
"Mmhmm!"
After hanging up, Qiao Xiya's cheeks flushed, a smile curving her lips.
Sheng Chenjin was hers, and no one could take him away!
As soon as Shi Xinxin arrived at the company, she heard someone was looking for her. She walked to the door of the Public Relations Manager's office and pushed it open.
Inside the office, a beautiful young woman stood by the window, her slender figure accentuated by a long white dress.
Hearing the movement, the young woman slowly turned around.
She had a pure and beautiful face, short black hair, and luminous eyes that sparkled like black pearls.
"Hello, is there something you need?" Shi Xinxin asked, nodding slightly, her tone polite.
"My name is Ye Xi, and I'm Sheng Chenjin's sister," the girl said with a slight smile, revealing two cute little tiger teeth.
"Oh."
"Please sit down."
Shi Xinxin nodded and sat on the sofa.
"You're my future sister-in-law, so I'll just call you by your name. You don't mind, do you?"
"No," Shi Xinxin shook her head.
"Actually, I came to see you about yesterday's news," Ye Xi said.
"Did you take the photos for yesterday's news?"
"Yes," Ye Xi nodded. "I was trying to help you out of a difficult situation."
"Why did you help me?" Shi Xinxin asked.
"Because..." Ye Xi paused, then looked at Shi Xinxin with a smile.
