Bai Xiaozhou

Chapter 145 A Familiar Feeling

Sheng Chenjin immediately signaled for the bodyguards to advance.

From Feng Lao's perspective, he saw several figures in black approaching him.

He gritted his teeth, trying to move, but the injury on his thigh made it impossible for him to budge. His hands were covered in shocking amounts of blood.

The bodyguards kicked away the burning wood and strode towards Feng Lao.

Just then, the sound of motorcycles drifting at high speed suddenly erupted from outside the warehouse. Dust kicked up from the ground, and a swift figure leaped through the window, deftly scooping Feng Lao up.

"Who are you, stop!" Shi Xinxin reflexively moved to pursue, while the bodyguards charged forward.

The person was incredibly fast. Under the eyes of everyone, they seemed to move only in fleeting shadows, creating a significant distance from the bodyguards.

Seeing Shi Xinxin about to step on a piece of burning wood, Sheng Chenjin pulled her back and said in a low voice, "They came prepared, we can't catch them."

He was stating a fact, and Shi Xinxin had no choice but to stop, watching the figure disappear with a sense of helplessness.

The person, dressed in a black cloak, turned their head slightly to look at Shi Xinxin, then escaped with Feng Lao through a back door of the warehouse.

For a fleeting moment, Shi Xinxin's gaze met the person's!

Her eyes were instantly filled with a sense of confusion. It was as if she had seen this person somewhere before; the look in their eyes was familiar.

The bodyguards reached the door and saw the man in black get onto a motorcycle with Feng Lao. They immediately split into several teams, getting into their vehicles and giving chase.

Meanwhile, Bai Feng received a call from the head bodyguard and shook his head at Sheng Chenjin. "That person had everything prepared. They bought tickets at the train station beforehand, and have already boarded the train."

Sheng Chenjin's expression turned cold. "Then stop that train."

With his power and status, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he could buy out the entire train station.

But Bai Feng then showed a look of difficulty. "The bodyguards also said that they have people on the train. If we insist on stopping it, it might affect other passengers."

Sheng Chenjin was about to say something else when Shi Xinxin interrupted, "Forget it."

She looked at Sheng Chenjin with her bright eyes. "I think the person in black might have met me before, or rather, someone I know."

From that brief, fleeting encounter, Sheng Chenjin couldn't discern anything unusual.

Shi Xinxin pondered as she got into the car.

That familiar feeling returned. She felt the gaze was so familiar, containing an expression she could never quite decipher. Yet, why couldn't she remember who that person was?

Excluding Sheng Chenjin and Bai Feng, Shi Xinxin mentally reviewed the appearances of everyone she knew who might be involved in this matter. But regrettably, none of them matched.

It was contradictory. This suggested Shi Xinxin didn't know the person, so why did their gaze feel so familiar?

Shi Xinxin pondered with a complex expression, her head aching. She rubbed her sore temples.

The three little ones sat neatly in the back seat, holding their iPads and using various ingenious methods to track Feng Lao's location.

Sheng Chenjin, in the driver's seat, turned the steering wheel with one hand, his gaze constantly on Shi Xinxin. Seeing her discomfort, he said, "I've already asked Bai Feng to investigate the train and its route. We'll have an answer soon."

Shi Xinxin nodded distractedly, acknowledging his words.

Deep down, a part of her had a premonition that this familiar person, who was absent from her memories, might be connected to the period of memory she had lost.

It seemed she absolutely had to find this lost memory.

As the car entered the city, Shi Xinxin looked out the window and confirmed their location. "Drop me off at the city hospital later. I need to ask Yan Hao a few questions."

Sheng Chenjin's grip on the steering wheel tightened instantly.

He asked with an unreadable expression, "Is there something suddenly that requires you to see him?"

He was thinking of what Yan Hao had said in the secret passage last time, and his heart ached.

Shi Xinxin hummed in response, her gaze unfocused as she looked out the window. The clear car window reflected the bewilderment in her eyes.

"The man in black who took Feng Lao, I felt so familiar with him, an indescribable feeling, but I just can't recall who he is."

Shi Xinxin turned back to look at Sheng Chenjin. "So, he must be related to my lost memories."

Upon hearing the word "memory," Sheng Chenjin's fingertips trembled slightly.

Shi Xinxin, not noticing his subtle reaction, continued, "Yan Hao probably knows about my memory loss, so I want to go see him to find out about that period. If not, I'll ask if there are any excellent treatments for memory recovery."

Shi Xinxin's expertise lay in traditional Chinese medicine and pharmacology. She wasn't very knowledgeable about neurology, largely because she had minimal exposure to human anatomy during her university years.

As Shi Xinxin was lost in thought, a sudden twitch in her nerves occurred.

Right, why was she so resistant to human experimentation?

Was this strong aversion and disgust also related to her lost memories?

At this thought, more and more questions surfaced in her mind, tangling like a ball of yarn, impossible to unravel.

Sheng Chenjin said in a calm tone, "Bai Feng already has news about Feng Lao. Why don't we find him first, and then I'll invite some renowned doctors to look into your memory issues."

"No need." Shi Xinxin's sole focus now was to recover her lost memories.

Perhaps once she recovered this memory, she would understand the purpose of Feng Lao's plan.

Her attitude was firm. "Just drop me off at the city hospital. Don't worry about anything else. I'll contact you after my investigation."

Sheng Chenjin paused, then nodded. "I'll have Bai Feng continue tracking Feng Lao. I'll go with you to the city hospital first. I'm worried otherwise."

"Okay." Shi Xinxin didn't object much to this.

She looked at the three little ones in the back seat, their faces etched with worry, knowing they had failed to locate Feng Lao. She smiled. "If you're bored, you can go home first."

However, she would have to arrange for some bodyguards to protect the three little ones. Even though she knew Sheng Chenjin had already made arrangements, Shi Xinxin still wanted to assert herself.

The three little ones unanimously stated, "We'll go to the hospital with Mommy and sit quietly in the corridor."

Shi Xinxin had no objections. Sheng Chenjin drove and parked in the hospital lot. As she got out of the car, she immediately saw Yan Hao standing at the hospital entrance.

She frowned and walked towards him. "Senior Brother, why are you down here?"

As far as she knew, it wasn't the hospital's resting or visiting hours.

Yan Hao was clearly surprised to see Shi Xinxin there. His expression shifted slightly, but when he saw Sheng Chenjin walking behind her, his face remained impassive.

"I had some urgent business, waiting for someone outside."
