She lowered her eyelids, concealing the flutter in her eyes. "Sheng Chenjin, we can't talk about feelings yet. I'm still young, and you're still young."
"Xin Xin..."
As Sheng Chenjin called her name, Shi Xinxin immediately covered her ears. "I want to listen to music. I don't want to hear it."
Her cheeks were flushed. Shyly, she averted her gaze from Sheng Chenjin's fiery eyes and turned away.
His gaze darkened. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a tie. "Do you want to listen to music, or do you want to work?"
"I want to listen to music!" Shi Xinxin took the tie, examined it, and then tied it around her neck. "It looks good, it suits you."
"I'm glad you like it," Sheng Chenjin said softly.
Shi Xinxin smiled, a sweet smile. She looked up at Sheng Chenjin. "I think you look especially handsome in a tie. I wonder if I'll have the honor of becoming your bride someday."
Sheng Chenjin remained silent, merely gazing at her.
Shi Xinxin's face flushed slightly, and she coughed lightly. "Uh, I mean, you look really handsome in a tie. You're not wearing any necklaces, watches, rings, bracelets, or earrings, but you're wearing this tie."
"You gave it to me, and I can't bear to take it off," Sheng Chenjin glanced indifferently at Shi Xinxin. "When you gave me the tie, you didn't say I couldn't wear it."
Shi Xinxin bit her lip, her smile a little stiff.
After a moment, she managed an awkward laugh. "I had no idea back then that you would keep and wear that tie."
Sheng Chenjin raised an eyebrow. "So, you're saying that if I had known, I would have taken it off?"
Shi Xinxin choked. "That's not what I meant. I meant..."
She wanted to explain, but she didn't know what to say.
"I understand what you mean," Sheng Chenjin curved his lips, reaching out to pinch her delicate, rosy cheek. "Don't worry, since I've cherished it for so many years, I won't lose it."
Shi Xinxin's smile was a little forced. "I know."
Sheng Chenjin took out the ring and then took Shi Xinxin's slender hand, placing the diamond on her left ring finger.
Shi Xinxin looked down at the diamond ring on her finger, and Sheng Chenjin's words echoed in her mind: "Xin Xin, when we have our wedding, you must wear a white wedding dress and a sapphire brooch."
She smiled, a brilliant smile.
Shi Xinxin looked at him, a hint of sadness flashing in her eyes.
Shi Xinxin looked at him, a hint of sadness flashing in her eyes.
Her gaze fell on his neck, where a silver necklace hung. The pendant was a large, teardrop-shaped sapphire, surrounded by golden patterns that shimmered under the light.
Shi Xinxin couldn't help but reach out and touch it.
Sheng Chenjin caught her hand and then took off the necklace. "Do you like it?"
Shi Xinxin nodded. "Yes, it's very beautiful."
Sheng Chenjin smiled and put the necklace in his pocket. "If you like it, then keep it."
"Ah, aren't you afraid I'll break your necklace?" Shi Xinxin teased him intentionally.
Sheng Chenjin chuckled. "If it breaks, it breaks. It's not valuable anyway."
Shi Xinxin pouted, slightly indignant. "Why isn't it valuable? I remember my father saying it's an heirloom, priceless."
Sheng Chenjin raised an eyebrow. "So precious, are you sure you want to break it?"
"You're not worried, so I won't care." With that, Shi Xinxin pulled open the car door and got into the passenger seat.
The car started and drove forward.
The night view was beautiful tonight, the sky was studded with stars, and the music in the car was melodious and gentle. Shi Xinxin looked at the scenery outside, a smile on her lips.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
Shi Xinxin picked up her phone and saw Ye Dongyang's number. After a moment's hesitation, she pressed the call button.
As soon as the call was connected, Ye Dongyang's slightly magnetic and gentle voice came through the receiver.
"Xin Xin, let's meet."
He was asking her out. Shi Xinxin was delighted, but she didn't reply immediately. Instead, she turned to Sheng Chenjin. "Sheng Chenjin, Ye Dongyang called to ask me out."
Sheng Chenjin responded calmly, "Oh, go ahead!"
"You don't mind me going on a date with him?" Shi Xinxin asked with a smile, her clear eyes seeming to hold starlight.
Sheng Chenjin said indifferently, "What's there to mind?"
"Aren't you jealous?" Shi Xinxin tilted her head, looking at him.
Sheng Chenjin shook his head. "I don't mind."
Shi Xinxin said with a smile, "Then I'll be going now!"
"Wait a moment," Sheng Chenjin called out to stop her.
Shi Xinxin looked at him, puzzled. "What is it?"
Sheng Chenjin's long, handsome fingers tapped lightly on the steering wheel. "We're not boyfriend and girlfriend now, and we're not engaged. Is it appropriate for you to be with me?"
Shi Xinxin blinked at him and then said softly, "What's inappropriate about it? Both our families know about each other. If we're not engaged, then we're not considered to be dating. Who else would I date then?"
Sheng Chenjin pursed his thin lips and remained silent.
After a moment, he instructed the driver in front, "Turn around, back to the apartment!"
"Ah?" Shi Xinxin's eyes widened in surprise. "What are you doing?"
"Aren't you going on a date with Ye Dongyang?" Sheng Chenjin said coldly.
Shi Xinxin said urgently, "No, I'm not going on a date with Ye Dongyang. I..."
Sheng Chenjin interrupted her. "You don't need to explain to me. I know what I'm doing. I'm not going back to the apartment right now just because we both had drinks today. It's too dangerous for a girl to go home alone. What if you meet a bad person on the way? Besides, you don't have any spare clothes. You can't keep wearing these pajamas, can you?"
Shi Xinxin was taken aback. "What about you? What will you do?"
"I'm fine," Sheng Chenjin said, glancing sideways at Shi Xinxin with a soft, doting gaze. "You're a girl, and you should be more concerned about cleanliness. So, I've prepared clothes for you."
"I..." Shi Xinxin opened her mouth, wanting to speak but stopping herself.
She wanted to refuse, but she was afraid Sheng Chenjin would misunderstand, so she nodded. "Okay!"
Sheng Chenjin smiled faintly and took out a key from his pocket, opening the drawer beside him.
Shi Xinxin glanced over and saw that it was filled with all sorts of small bottles and jars, many of which had labels, some even in English. They were all skincare products.
Sheng Chenjin handed her a tube of ointment. "This is scar cream. After applying it, your facial scars will be almost gone."
Shi Xinxin took it. "Thank you!"
She put the ointment in her bag and then changed the subject, asking Sheng Chenjin about his work. Although she studied design, she had no knowledge of jewelry and jade, and didn't understand how to appraise them.
