Shi Xinxin still looked very wronged and started crying, "Don't scold me, it's all that damned Sheng Chenjin. If he wasn't a playboy, it would all be that damned Sheng Chenjin."
As Shi Xinxin cursed Sheng Chenjin's name, Xu Jiayi was very surprised. Although he knew Shi Xinxin could never forget Sheng Chenjin, Xu Jiayi didn't realize she was so unwilling to let him go.
Even at this point, Shi Xinxin was still shouting Sheng Chenjin's name.
Despite feeling a pang in his heart, Xu Jiayi still managed to pull Shi Xinxin out of the bar.
"Let's go home, Shi Xinxin." Xu Jiayi picked up Shi Xinxin and took her back to her apartment.
When he opened Shi Xinxin's door, Xu Jiayi was shocked by what he saw.
Everything was a mess – dirty clothes, snack wrappers, everything was in disarray. If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, Xu Jiayi wouldn't have believed that Shi Xinxin was living in such a place, like a garbage dump.
Xu Jiayi had visited Shi Xinxin's place back in China, and it was nothing like this.
It was true that leaving Shi Xinxin to live alone in America had led to trouble. Xu Jiayi painstakingly cleared a path with his feet from the doorway and brought Shi Xinxin to her room.
And all along this short path, Shi Xinxin was not quiet.
Shi Xinxin, in her semi-drunken, semi-conscious state, still recognized Xu Jiayi. "Why are you here, Xu Jiayi?"
Xu Jiayi sighed. "If I had known you were living like this, I would have come to America with you."
Hearing Xu Jiayi's words, Shi Xinxin didn't seem to understand. She just smiled foolishly and said nothing.
Xu Jiayi could only sigh and put Shi Xinxin on the bed. "I'll see if you have anything here to help you sober up, so you don't have a headache tomorrow morning."
With that, Xu Jiayi was about to leave. But Shi Xinxin grabbed his sleeve. "Don't go, Sheng Chenjin. Don't go."
Xu Jiayi looked at Shi Xinxin with her eyes closed, still murmuring Sheng Chenjin's name in her sleep, which only made him more annoyed.
At this moment, Xu Jiayi really wanted to scold Shi Xinxin, but she wasn't sober, and scolding her would be useless.
Feeling Shi Xinxin's grip tighten, Xu Jiayi could only lean by her bedside, watching her sleep and call out Sheng Chenjin's name.
"Why can't you forget that person?" A faint sorrow flickered in Xu Jiayi's eyes. Even though Shi Xinxin was not conscious at the moment, Xu Jiayi didn't want to show too much sadness in front of her.
He didn't want her to see his pain.
As the stars twinkled in the night sky, Xu Jiayi stayed by Shi Xinxin's side as she slept.
When Shi Xinxin woke up, she heard strange noises outside her room.
Shi Xinxin rubbed her aching head, remembering that she had almost been carried away from the bar yesterday. She panicked and quickly checked her clothes. She was still wearing yesterday's clothes, and this was her room in America.
Shi Xinxin breathed a sigh of relief. The noises outside were getting louder.
Shi Xinxin recalled seeing Xu Jiayi yesterday, but that seemed impossible. She gave a wry smile. "The person I saw when I was drunk was Xu Jiayi? It's unbelievable."
Thinking this, Shi Xinxin took a deep breath and buried herself back in the covers. She didn't want to bother with who was outside; she just felt unwell and wanted to sleep more.
At that moment, the door creaked open.
Shi Xinxin jumped up from the bed in surprise and saw Xu Jiayi with one hand on the doorknob, looking at her with interest.
"Xu Jiayi!" Shi Xinxin looked at him in surprise. "How did you get here?"
Shi Xinxin still couldn't believe it and rubbed her eyes.
Xu Jiayi smiled gently at her. "Stop rubbing your eyes, they'll get damaged. I'm here, right in front of you."
But hearing Xu Jiayi say this, Shi Xinxin was very surprised. "But how did you come?"
Xu Jiayi smiled slightly. "I came to see you." He then urged Shi Xinxin, "I've already prepared breakfast for you. Hurry up and get up to eat."
"Breakfast?" Shi Xinxin looked at Xu Jiayi in surprise.
Xu Jiayi nodded. "Have you not eaten breakfast since you came to America?"
Shi Xinxin quickly retorted, "That's not true. I'm just surprised you can cook breakfast."
"What's so difficult about that? It's simple to make." As he spoke, Xu Jiayi made to close the door. "Hurry up and change, then come out for breakfast."
"Okay!" Shi Xinxin sounded a little excited. As soon as the door closed, the excitement in her eyes vanished, replaced by a hint of loneliness.
However, with Xu Jiayi's constant urging, Shi Xinxin quickly showered, changed, and opened the door to come out.
When Shi Xinxin opened the door, the sight before her startled her.
The once messy room was now extremely clean and tidy. The dirty clothes that had been on the sofa were now neatly hung on the balcony, and the floor was so clean it could be used as a mirror.
The room was actually quite small, with just a kitchen, a bathroom, a living area, and a bedroom. And the bedroom was on the second floor. It was a small building, but it had all the necessary amenities. If kept tidy, it could be very cozy.
But since Shi Xinxin moved in, she had rarely cleaned it. It wasn't that she didn't like cleanliness; it seemed she had lost the motivation. She had been living in a daze every day.
She wanted to forget Sheng Chenjin, but no matter how hard she tried, Shi Xinxin couldn't forget him. She missed him even more, which was why she started drinking. She thought getting drunk would help her forget faster.
But every time she got drunk, Shi Xinxin would still utter Sheng Chenjin's name in her heart or unintentionally out loud.
"Eat your bread," Xu Jiayi said, wearing simple home clothes and mopping the floor for Shi Xinxin.
"Xu Jiayi." Shi Xinxin was still somewhat surprised, even a little disbelieving. "You're like a snail girl."
Hearing Shi Xinxin's remark, Xu Jiayi walked over and playfully punched her on the head. "Snail girl? Come on, Shi Xinxin, you're not usually such an untidy person, are you?"
