Chapter 749 Unexpected, so unexpected

Chapter 2 The Next Day

When Yun Shu woke up, she felt a slight headache.

She had realized the wine was problematic last night after drinking. Qin Yiqing, who was usually very discerning about wine, had been deceived.

It seemed she had been extremely heartbroken yesterday, to the point of being so distraught that she bought wine carelessly.

Poor girl.

After tidying herself up, Yun Shu walked out of her room. Just as she was about to knock on Qin Yiqing's door, a young maidservant spoke up, "Miss Ning, Miss Xiaoqing left early this morning. She asked me to tell Miss Ning that she had some urgent matters to attend to and had to go out for a few days. She will be back in a while."

Yun Shu was taken aback, and then she remembered their conversation last night. It seemed Qin Yiqing couldn't let go of Ji Rong and had gone to see him?

She smiled and nodded, "Alright, please prepare breakfast for me."

"Yes, please wait a moment, Miss Ning."

Meanwhile.

Qin Yiqing arrived at a teahouse.

She had not left the capital to find Ji Rong.

Because she knew it would be useless. She simply didn't know how to face Yun Shu. She knew this morning that she had let slip too much last night.

She blamed herself for her moment of foolishness and for being deceived into buying fake wine.

No wonder she couldn't help but say so many things in a daze last night, and then woke up this morning remembering it all and with a splitting headache!

It was all because of the fake wine!

She hated the unscrupulous merchants who had tampered with the wine!

At this moment, she was sitting in the teahouse, looking down at the crowds passing by. Today, she would pick someone and achieve something with that person!

Only then could she truly let go of Ji Rong and stop pestering him.

She knew she wouldn't be able to control herself.

But looking at the crowds, with so many men, why were they all so unsightly? Not a single one could compare to Ji Rong? She didn't like ugly people.

It wasn't that she was judging by appearance, but she felt that for her first time, she should at least find someone who wouldn't give her nightmares. Since she didn't plan to marry anyone in this lifetime, the man she chose for her first time had to be handsome and dashing, and also quite charming!

She rubbed her aching head.

It hurt so much.

After she found a man, she would have Ruan Xi send a message to Ji Rong, and they would go their separate ways, never to see each other again.

Having made up her mind, Qin Yiqing's eyes kept scanning the crowd below.

Indeed, because her heart had been full of Ji Rong, and she had only been stunned by the Night King, she had never truly noticed any other men before!

Perhaps before, even if other men were good-looking, she would have automatically ignored them, or even thought they couldn't compare to Ji Rong at all, and wouldn't bother to look at them.

She was being picky.

A wave of sorrow washed over her.

No one caught her eye.

Forget it, she'd change locations and go to a courtesan house. The men there knew how to serve people, and they wouldn't pester her afterward; it would be a matter of paying money.

She got up, called the waiter, gave him some silver, and then got up to leave.

Just as she was about to go downstairs.

Suddenly, the world spun.

Her head throbbed violently.

Her consciousness flickered, and she fainted.

Just as she was about to tumble down the stairs, the little remaining sense told her she was being held in someone's arms.

She wouldn't roll down the stairs...

Her face wouldn't be disfigured...

Two hours later.

The unconscious Qin Yiqing suddenly sat up in bed as if she had been resurrected.

Her large, rolling eyes surveyed her surroundings.

She found herself lying in a room, not on the cold ground being gawked at by a crowd. She breathed a sigh of relief. It was all the damned fake wine!

She had a side effect from drinking fake wine!

She was prone to dizziness!

Coupled with the fact that she hadn't eaten for three or four meals, it had given the fake wine a chance to harm her! She had actually passed out in the teahouse!

But, where was this?

Who had brought her here?

Qin Yiqing got out of bed.

She still felt a little lightheaded, as if she were walking on cotton.

She had always loved to eat and couldn't stand to go hungry. Even when traveling, if she was hungry, she would immediately stop and look for food.

After eating, she would continue her journey. This was the first time she had gone without food for several meals.

She was truly hungry!

"Could this be a doctor's clinic?" Qin Yiqing pushed open the door and walked out.

When she saw the pavilions and beautiful scenery before her, she realized this was probably not a doctor's clinic but the inner quarters of a household.

Suddenly, some consciousness returned. She remembered that before she completely fainted, someone had held her!

Could it be that person who saved her?

She stretched her arms and moved her limbs, not afraid at all of being in a den of wolves.

Although hungry, she could still kill a group of people.

"I must say, the owner of this mansion is a very elegant person. It's so beautifully decorated," Qin Yiqing couldn't help but praise.

However, it was too quiet.

Where was everyone?

Qin Yiqing walked with her hands behind her back, looking around casually.

Unknowingly, she walked a considerable distance.

The scenery around her became more and more beautiful.

It made Qin Yiqing suddenly wish she owned such a residence, and even wished to live in such a place for a while.

Suddenly, a maidservant appeared.

The maid was carrying a large tray, laden with steaming hot meals.

She almost collided with Qin Yiqing.

Qin Yiqing reacted quickly, stepping back a large pace with nimble agility.

"Ah!"

The maidservant exclaimed, but her hands were steady, and the food didn't fall.

Qin Yiqing stepped forward to help steady the tray. As the aroma of the porridge and small cakes wafted into her nostrils, her stomach began to rumble.

So hungry!

When the maidservant saw that it was Qin Yiqing who almost bumped into her, her eyes widened, "It's you! You're awake!"

"Yes, I just woke up," Qin Yiqing nodded.

"Our young master brought you back from the teahouse and even called a doctor from a clinic. I'm glad you're alright, Miss. Are you hungry? Would you like to have a meal first? I'll go report to the young master that you're awake," the little maidservant asked in a flurry of questions.

Qin Yiqing couldn't help but smile, "Who is your young master?"

"This is the Meng Mansion. Don't worry, our young master is a very good person. At the time, he actually wanted to send you to a doctor's clinic, but you were unconscious and he feared you might encounter misfortune if taken to a clinic," the little maidservant replied immediately.

Qin Yiqing nodded with understanding, "Alright, I understand. Thank you."

Then the little maidservant placed the meals on a stone table in a nearby pavilion, and Qin Yiqing sat in the pavilion and began to eat.

Perhaps it was because she had been hungry for so long.

She found the chef at the Meng Mansion to be exceptionally skilled! The porridge was so delicious! And the small cakes were so fragrant!

Before she knew it, she had eaten all the food on the tray.

After eating, Qin Yiqing felt her body filled with strength, as if she had come back to life.

Just as she was about to stretch her limbs, she suddenly saw a man walking towards her from not far away.
