"If he was sleeping, why wouldn't he wake up when called?"
Luo Buwei left his son and daughter-in-law to their own affairs and approached Lin Xiao, puzzled.
"Uncle, as the saying goes, you can never wake someone who is pretending to be asleep." Lin Xiao's voice was loud enough to cause Luo Cheng on the bed to shift, his heart rate accelerating.
"Pretending to sleep?"
Luo Buwei's face immediately darkened as he looked at his son.
"Perhaps, big brother feels deeply ashamed of what happened during the day and doesn't want to face reality," Lin Xiao speculated. "Or, it's possible he wants to use this opportunity to escape from reality."
"Of course, these are just my guesses. After all, big brother is thirty this year, he should have the responsibility that comes with being thirty and standing on one's own two feet, and wouldn't want to escape reality."
This last sentence from Lin Xiao made Luo Cheng dare not look up or speak, swallowing back the explanation he was about to offer.
He knew his son too well. This was clearly an admission of pretending to sleep, which explained why the entire hospital, including Professor Lu, couldn't find a suitable reason for his condition.
"You good-for-nothing!"
Luo Buwei was furious. He had been apologizing and kowtowing for his son, only to find out that the brat was just faking it and hadn't said a word. If he had known this, he wouldn't have gone down on his knees and begged.
He would have even used this as an opportunity to ask his family for money!
And now, the kid had the nerve to wake up.
As Luo Buwei pondered these thoughts, he overlooked one crucial point.
If Luo Cheng hadn't chosen to wake up at this moment, he might never have woken up again... Lin Xiao's methods were not gentle.
"So, it was all just a charade."
Old Master Luo snorted, his impression of Luo Cheng worsening considerably.
Even Luo Cheng's wife began to lose her temper. "You were comfortable pretending to sleep, but do you know how worried I was about you!"
At this point, Luo Cheng wished he had just stayed peacefully lying down. Why had he woken up?
The moment he opened his eyes, he was met with a group of people glaring at him. It would have been better to just remain unconscious forever.
Luo Buwei stared at his son, but ultimately, he said nothing. This was perhaps what they called "troubling one's father."
"Alright, now that Luo Cheng is awake, Uncle, you and the others are free to go," Lin Xiao said, his gaze towards Luo Cheng carrying a hint of amusement. It was indeed interesting to see.
With that, he bid farewell and left.
"Your son... you two handle it," Old Master Luo sighed, deciding it was best not to see. He had a rough idea of why Luo Cheng had been pretending to be unconscious and couldn't be bothered to pry further.
Madam Hua followed him, sighing as they departed.
Even she no longer wished to concern herself with the affairs of Luo Buwei's family.
Once the elders were gone, Luo Buwei, with a dark expression, looked at his son who had been faking sleep all day. "Well done! Very well done!"
"Dad, my body is fine now. Aren't you happy?" Luo Cheng shrank back, offering a sheepish smile.
"Happy! Damn happy!"
