The paperwork was done.
Tomorrow afternoon, Zhang Huan would attend the Parent-Child Day as Luo Bing's guardian.
For now, Lin Xiao hadn't told Luo Bing; he wanted to give the little boy a surprise.
This would likely be one of Luo Bing's last Parent-Child Days at kindergarten.
In the evening, after dinner, Luo Bing went upstairs early, which was quite unusual.
"Should you go check on him?"
As a mother, Luo Qinghan, despite Bing Bing not being her child, instinctively felt worried.
"Mm."
Lin Xiao quickly arrived at the door of Bing Bing's room and knocked.
"Can I come in?"
"Uncle, please come in."
Luo Bing opened the door for Lin Xiao and then sat at the table, busy assembling a Lego Lamborghini that Lin Xiao had bought him a couple of days prior.
It was a large model, almost half a meter long when completed, and it required considerable time and effort to build. Judging by the pieces on the table, Luo Bing had been working on it for days, with only a small portion left.
Lin Xiao didn't disturb Bing Bing, quietly watching from the side, occasionally offering a hand to help correct a minor issue.
The scene was exceptionally harmonious.
In about half an hour, the sports car was finished.
Luo Bing looked at the completed Lego with shining eyes. "Uncle! I finished it!"
"Yes, that's great."
Lin Xiao nodded.
It seemed he and Luo Qinghan had worried unnecessarily. Luo Bing had been so engrossed in building the Lego that he had gone to his room early. He had initially thought the child was feeling down because he wouldn't see his parents at the Parent-Child Day tomorrow.
Afterward, Lin Xiao helped the child place the Lego model on the cabinet.
"Uncle."
Luo Bing suddenly asked, "When can I see my mom and dad again?"
"Your father might take a bit longer. Your mother should be back next year," Lin Xiao replied truthfully.
"Mom will be back next year?"
Luo Bing's eyes lit up. He hadn't asked this question before. He was six years old and understood that bad people were caught by the police, but he didn't know how long they would be imprisoned. He had only recently come to terms with the fact that his parents had done something wrong.
For him, this was something incredibly difficult to accept.
"Yes, if your mother doesn't make any more mistakes while with the police, she can be released next year. If she behaves well, she might even be home for Chinese New Year this year."
Hearing this, Luo Bing became even more excited. "That's great!"
"Tomorrow is Parent-Child Day. Will you be disappointed that I'm standing in for your parents?" Lin Xiao asked.
Luo Bing fell silent for a moment, clearly flustered and even a little scared by the question.
"It's okay, Uncle told you before that good children should tell the truth, right? As long as you tell the truth, Uncle won't blame you." The answer was obvious.
"I miss Mom."
Luo Bing sat there, looking at Lin Xiao with wide eyes.
"Alright, then I'll tell your mom and ask her to try her best to come back and see you as soon as possible, how about that?"
"Okay!!"
Upon hearing this, Luo Bing immediately grabbed Lin Xiao's hand. "Uncle, you must ask Mom to come back soon!"
After all, he was just a child.
After chatting with Luo Bing for a couple more minutes, Lin Xiao left the room.
The next afternoon, after lunch, Lin Xiao accompanied Luo Qinghan to the kindergarten. At the entrance, he happened to run into Zhang Huan.
"Sister-in-law."
