Chapter 1068 Bickering

Only someone like Old Zhou, a close friend and confidante of the Dragon Lord, would dare call him an old man so directly.

"How can you curse? And in front of the younger generation, you're really setting a terrible example! How can you be a role model?" the Dragon Lord immediately retorted.

"I won't be a role model. What are you going to do about it?" Old Zhou huffed, his beard bristling.

Lin Xiao couldn't help but chuckle at the sight. These two really enjoyed bickering.

"Come, come, sit down first," the Dragon Lord said, ushering Old Zhou to a seat. He then gestured towards the teapot and a newly opened tin of tea leaves. "Sit here. If you can't sit still, help me brew some tea."

Old Zhou's eyes widened. This was spiritual tea! And the Dragon Lord was simply brewing it with plain water – what a waste of a treasure!

With that thought, he unceremoniously dropped his cane, rolled up his sleeves, and got to work.

Seeing this, the Dragon Lord smiled with satisfaction. He knew Old Zhou wouldn't stand by and watch such precious tea being squandered.

"I can't believe that after all these years, with all the spiritual tea you've had, you still have no regard for brewing it properly. What's the difference between this and playing a lute to a cow?" Old Zhou grumbled as he brewed the tea.

"There is a difference," the Dragon Lord chuckled. He seemed to relish these exchanges with his old friend. "The lute in 'playing a lute to a cow' isn't any better than this tea!"

"You old codger, you know that too!"

Old Zhou grew even more incensed.

Lin Xiao watched the two elders, a wry smile on his face.

Xiao Zheng stood by the sofa, silent, as if he saw nothing.

"Dr. Zheng, what's wrong? Aren't you going to sit and rest?" Lin Xiao pulled at Xiao Zheng.

"Ah... no need, thank you, Officer," Xiao Zheng quickly replied, shaking his head.

Sit down?

Did he dare?

The three people on this sofa represented the core leadership of Dragon Country. What right did he have to sit with them?

"Oh, Xiao Zheng, you too. You've been working here for so long, yet you're still so reserved? Lin Xiao has invited you to sit, so sit down," the Dragon Lord chimed in. "Are you going to make me, an old man, beg you to sit?"

"No, no, no! I wouldn't dare!"

Xiao Zheng quickly sat down on the sofa.

If one wanted to understand the meaning of sitting upright, they only needed to look at Xiao Zheng now.

"Alright, Lin Xiao, what brings you to the capital this time?" the Dragon Lord finally turned to business. "Or are you worried about the items transported from your Northern Frontier and came to check on them?"

"Since the Grand Elder of the Artifact Sect is personally inspecting them, I don't need to fret about that matter," Lin Xiao shook his head. He then fixed his gaze on the Dragon Lord. "I've come this time because I have a dilemma and need to personally seek your counsel in the capital."

Old Zhou, who was in the midst of brewing tea, paused almost imperceptibly for a fraction of a second.

"What is it?" the Dragon Lord's tone was filled with curiosity as he looked at Lin Xiao, eager to know what could possibly require him to travel all the way to the capital.

"It's like this. Before I came, I learned something. It concerns the mastermind behind the annihilation of my Lin family," Lin Xiao stated calmly.

"I heard you'd already clarified this matter in Shashi, that it was related to the Nangong family, right?" the Dragon Lord nodded.
