Chapter 65: Chapter 65: The Special Nature of Life Players (Second Update)
The adverse effects of the "Eight Gates Escape Armor" fully manifested the moment Xu Nian stopped circulating his Internal Energy. An intense, piercing pain shot through Xu Nian’s entire body, causing him to involuntarily suck in a sharp breath. From his meridians to his very flesh, the stabbing pain spread relentlessly, showing no sign of stopping. If someone were to ambush him at this moment... With this thought in mind, Xu Nian dared not be careless and strived to stay alert.
The players had already charged from the backyard into the front courtyard. The members of the Sword Team were the most courageous, chopping at any Blood Demon Sect members they saw. Groups chasing a single person to cut them down made for a spectacular sight. The Construction Team had already been wiped out once by Blood Demon Sect Followers outside Jin Mansion. Daytime Alms and their squad were also forced from the backyard into the front courtyard. They had to stick with the main force, as too many Blood Demon Sect members were outside. If they ventured out again, they would just be wasting Contribution Points.
「On the rooftops.」
Chaotic Dance Steps and Flourishing Flowers sighed in relief as they saw the players start to push back.
"The situation in Jin Mansion has stabilized for now. Next are the enemies outside."
Chaotic Dance Steps slightly furrowed his brow and pondered, "The Blood Demon Sect Followers outside are more numerous than those inside. The entire Fengxiang Prefecture City is in chaos."
"Can’t we ally with other Non-player Characters?" Flourishing Flowers watched the rescued members of the Single Sword Sect, a hint of worry creasing his brow.
Relying on these players alone to face the numerous Blood Demon Sect Followers—Human Wave Tactics might work, but the cost might be too high. There were too few High-level Players in Cloud Lament. Fortunately, most of them followed orders; otherwise, the entire group would have descended into chaos.
"What’s happening with Little Boss over there?" Chaotic Dance Steps glanced at the players in the courtyard and asked with a frown, "Why haven’t I seen any of their Life Players?"
Since they had entered, Little Boss and his group had vanished. They hadn’t seen a single Life Player yet. Even if they weren’t skilled in combat, they should still come out and help.
"Little Boss... forget it. Let’s talk to Junlin and his team first. The five of them have decent Power. If they all activate their "Eight Gates Escape Armor", they might be able to fight their way out."
Flourishing Flowers, standing on the rooftop, directed, "Chopping King, your Sword Team members must immediately block the entrance. The rest of you, quickly clear out the Blood Demon Sect Followers inside the mansion, and then head to the entrance to support the Sword Team."
From the crowd, a player named ’What Should I Be Called’ immediately answered the call and led the Sword Team rushing towards the entrance. A mighty horde of players rushed over, instantly routing the Blood Demon Sect members. The indomitable spirit of the players struck fear into the Blood Demon Sect. These people seemed to have appeared from nowhere. The moment they showed up, they attacked, many fighting to the death to take their enemies down with them. This was even more ferocious than the Blood Demon Sect itself.
Junlin and his four companions grouped together, seizing the chance to quickly recover their stamina. There was no choice. Initially, it was just the five of them. Facing so many Blood Demon Sect Followers in the courtyard, it was a feat they had held out this long. Fortunately, the Sect Leader had taken care of that BOSS; otherwise, the five of them would definitely have had to reincarnate here once.
"Quick, quick, quick, Junlin and his team are over here!"
From among the players, several figures hurried over, clutching items.
Seeing who was approaching, Junlin was somewhat surprised. Players from Celestial Realm? Weren’t they all Little Boss’s people? What were they doing here?
"Junlin, quickly eat some Steamed Buns! Our Boss is still steaming them in the Kitchen; there’s definitely enough to go around!" A player named Dustless Eyes pressed the Steamed Buns he was carrying into Junlin’s hands. At the same time, he explained, "These Steamed Buns have a buff that slowly recovers stamina. Once we make more, everyone’s stamina drain will be reduced."
Steamed Bun? With a buff enhancement?
Junlin suddenly remembered that Little Boss was also a player with a special Talent. Among the Life Players, his Talent was one that specialized in conquering the Kitchen. Anything he cooked even earned praise from their Sect Leader, an NPC, and could trigger Rewards. Players like him could only truly shine in specific situations. Clearly, Little Boss had found his path.
"It really has an enhancement! A slight boost to vitality and spirit!" Evil Queen Morgana shouted in surprise, then looked excitedly at the others.
Junlin and his team also busily ate Steamed Buns to restore their stamina.
Seeing this scene, the players from Cloud Lament were not pleased.
"What’s going on here? We stormed in to save you, and you’re sitting here eating Steamed Buns?"
"Food in the game tastes mediocre anyway, but shouldn’t you at least react? A simple ’thank you’ would suffice!"
"Junlin, have you never eaten Steamed Buns before?"
"Seriously though, these Steamed Buns in the game are big and white; they look pretty good."
"Bro, you’re not trying to be lewd, are you?"
"..."
After the players inside Jin Mansion had cleared out the Blood Demon Sect Followers, they began to move toward the entrance. The next step was to either block the entrance or find a way to charge out directly. The Blood Demon Sect Followers were legitimate Contribution Points. This wave was meant for them to farm Contribution Points, so they couldn’t finish the Task so easily.
Dustless Eyes turned to address the many players, "I’ll bring Steamed Buns to everyone in a bit. Make sure you all eat plenty! The buns our Boss makes have a buff enhancement."
With that, he beckoned to a few Life Players, and they all hurried towards the backyard. Evidently, this served as an explanation to the others. Their Life Players weren’t hiding; they were contributing in any way they could.
Watching them leave, the other players didn’t say much more. After all, Junlin and his team had single-handedly defended the front courtyard. It was impressive that they had survived without being wiped out. Taking a moment to recover was understandable.
Flourishing Flowers and Chaotic Dance Steps jumped down from the rooftop and walked over, one after the other.
Junlin looked at the young man beside Flourishing Flowers, a hint of confusion in his expression. He knew Flourishing Flowers’s personality well; with his typical Rich Second Generation attitude, he wouldn’t casually get close to someone. What was the deal with this Chaotic Dance Steps? A friend from Flourishing Flowers’s circle?
"Flourishing Flowers, what’s happening here?" Junlin sat on the ground, eating as he asked. "Why bring an assistant? Don’t you want full command anymore?"
The approaching Flourishing Flowers chuckled lightly. "Let me introduce you. This is Cloud Lament’s Military Advisor. He arranged most of today’s commands. Without his control, you lot would’ve reincarnated long ago."
Chaotic Dance Steps gave Junlin’s group a slight nod, appearing somewhat aloof, or perhaps he simply didn’t want much interaction with them.
"Is that so?" Junlin sized up Chaotic Dance Steps and nodded. "Thanks, bro. If you need something in the future, just say the word."
"Let’s cooperate," Chaotic Dance Steps said indifferently. "Otherwise, those Blood Demon Sect Followers outside won’t be easy to handle. You all are High-level Players. How about you hold off their leaders outside while we clear out the small fry?"
